Chapter 322 - 323: Save It
Chapter 322 - 323: Save It
"Huh?" Di Mingjue looked in the direction she pointed, slightly furrowing his brows, and said uncertainly, "Is that a puppy?"
"A puppy that gorgeous, in these mountains?" Gu Qibao questioned in confusion, "Why is it holding onto the branch and refusing to leave?"
"Probably fell by accident." Di Mingjue replied, "Looks like its leg is injured."
"Really?" Gu Qibao stretched her neck to get a better look, it did seem like the puppy was injured.
"It can’t get up or down, can it?" Gu Qibao said again, "Poor thing, should we rescue it?"
Di Mingjue knitted his brows and finally nodded, "Let’s give it a try."
As he spoke, he squatted down and estimated the distance between him and the branch. If he were to lay on the cliff edge, and if he stretched far enough, he should be able to reach it.
Gu Qibao watched nervously, "Is it possible?"
Di Mingjue nodded, "We’ll see if my arm is long enough."
Having said that, he did not mind the dirt from the cliff and lay on it.
"Be careful!" Gu Qibao said anxiously. She quickly grabbed the waistband of Di Mingjue’s trousers, "I’ll hold onto you."
Di Mingjue: "..."
Naughty girl, out of all places, why grab the pants!
But he decided not to argue with her at the moment, Di Mingjue carefully adjusted his position, and stretched out his long arm.
Fortunately, he had long arms and fingers, and he could actually touch the branch.
"Just a little bit more." Gu Qibao said nervously, holding tightly onto his waistband, "Try harder."
Di Mingjue: "Naughty girl, if you weren’t pulling on my pants, I could have reached it!"
Gu Qibao: "..."
"I’m afraid you’ll fall if I don’t hold onto your pants!" Gu Qibao said in worry.
"If I were to really fall, you holding onto my pants wouldn’t make a difference." Di Mingjue’s tongue was heavy with sarcasm as he stretched out his arm further.
With a little more effort, he finally hooked onto the branch.
The fluffy little creature perched on the branch with its big shiny eyes wide open, seeming to be frightened silly, yet also as if understanding that it was being saved. It didn’t dare move an inch and clung tightly to the branch, its eyes showing a certain longing.
As the branch was slowly bent over, it clearly wasn’t easy due to the counteracting force of the branch.
Finally, when the branch reached its limit, Di Mingjue swiftly extended his other hand. He managed to grab the little creature just in time, right as the branch snapped back into place.
"Phew...that was close." Gu Qibao exhaled in relief and promptly let go of Di Mingjue’s waistband.
Di Mingjue stood up, frowning as he examined the little creature in his hand.
The little thing was still clinging tightly to his hand.
"What on earth is this?" Gu Qibao asked, her eyebrows furrowed.
Small and white with pointy ears, it was about the size of a palm.
"It might be a fox." Di Mingjue said, placing the little thing on the ground.
"A fox!" Gu Qibao’s eyes widened, "We have those in these mountains?"
"Probably do." Di Mingjue replied, "Check its leg, is it injured?"
"Okay." Gu Qibao nodded, about to take a look when the little creature suddenly scurried off. Running off clumsily, it seemed indeed it had injured its leg.
"Hey, why is it running!" Gu Qibao stomped her foot.
"Never mind, these types of animals are rather wild, they’re not used to humans." Di Mingjue said nonchalantly.
"Mhm." Gu Qibao nodded, watching as it disappeared into the undergrowth in just a moment.
