The sudden ringing of the phone pulled her wandering soul back.

She picked up the phone and saw it was her husband calling. Instantly, a wave of sadness hit her throat like a needle prick, and she wasn’t sure how she managed to answer the call.

All she heard was that gentle and pleasant voice asking, "Is it over?"

"Yes, it’s over." Nangong Ran realized she was already in tears.

"Where are you?" Di Mingchen asked, "Why didn’t you call your husband first, so I could pick you up?" Di Mingchen said with concern, not even asking about the results of the report.

"Oh, I just came out." Nangong Ran tried to make her voice sound calm, "I’m now in the hospital outpatient lobby."

"Then wait for me, I’ll be right down," Di Mingchen said, "Or you could walk toward the parking lot."

"Okay," Nangong Ran replied.

Her throat stung painfully, and she was desperately trying to suppress it. Nangong Ran wanted to hang up quickly, but then she heard Di Mingchen ask, "Xiaoran, why do you sound unhappy? Is something wrong?"

Nangong Ran panicked and hurriedly adjusted her mood, "No, everything’s fine! Everything is very normal, I’ll show you the report later."

"Really?" Di Mingchen smiled.

"Of course, who am I? I’ve always been as strong as national defense."

Di Mingchen couldn’t help but laugh softly, "Yes, you’re the best, able to handle both the good and the bad."

"Exactly!" Nangong Ran’s smile was bright, but her face was still covered in tears.

"I’ll head to the parking lot first, it’s too noisy here, we’ll talk later." Nangong Ran said as she hung up the phone.

The moment she hung up, she couldn’t hold it in and started crying, her small and fragile body shaking like leaves in the autumn wind, threatening to wither away at any moment.

She slowly squatted down, tears pattering onto the floor. People in the hospital probably had seen it many times and nobody came forward to ask.

Nangong Ran didn’t know how she made it to the parking lot, but when she saw Di Mingchen’s car, she quickly wiped her tears, moved aside, and took several deep breaths to adjust her emotions.

She stepped forward; Di Mingchen was already waiting in the car, his ruggedly handsome face still as gentle as jade.

"Second Brother!" Nangong Ran jumped into the car, her eyes smiling into crescents, showing no hint of emotion.

"So happy?" Di Mingchen raised an eyebrow, reaching out to affectionately touch her hair.

"Of course, everything is okay." Nangong Ran raised the report in her hand and handed it to him, "Look."

Di Mingchen didn’t mind, reached for the report and, without a glance, tossed it to the backseat, "It’s just a formality, nothing worth looking at, doesn’t affect any results."

"Really?" Nangong Ran turned to look at him.

"Of course." Di Mingchen nodded, thinking for a moment, "Actually, for Xiaoran to do this check-up, I’ve always worried it would trouble your heart. If it weren’t a requirement, I certainly wouldn’t have you do it."

"Why?" Nangong Ran asked.

"Because whether you’re healthy or not doesn’t affect me marrying you." Di Mingchen looked at her, "Even if you have health issues, I’ll still marry you. Remember the marriage vows? For better or worse, sickness and health, poverty, wealth, disaster, none of these are reasons for two people not to be together."

Nangong Ran’s eyes turned red and she suddenly said, "What if I can’t have children?"

"Hmm?" Di Mingchen was taken aback, then raised an eyebrow, "Don’t say such things."

"I mean if." Nangong Ran insisted.
