Chapter 250 16: Land of Corruption! A Sea of Extraordinary-Level Undead Soldiers
Chapter 250 16: Land of Corruption! A Sea of Extraordinary-Level Undead Soldiers
They were powerful enough to instantly kill other conventional versions of Extraordinary Creatures.
However, one of the grunt-type Extraordinary Skeletons was actually quite formidable.

[Description: An Undead skeleton born in the Land of Corruption. Imbued by a mysterious power, it has been a high-level Undead Creature since birth, incomparable to the weak skeletons of old.]
Like conventional Mage soldier types, Skeleton Mages were considered grunt units. However, their unique, large-scale AoE damage mechanics earned them a T0 ranking.
This was especially true since the Land of Corruption skill could summon hundreds of Skeleton Mages at once, making them a particularly terrifying force.
Unless an enemy specifically targeted and eliminated them, they could easily wipe out an Extraordinary Force of several thousand, or even a Mortal Legion numbering in the hundreds of thousands.
In addition, this Extraordinary Level skeleton legion contained another powerful entity comparable to the Black Knights.
The Slaughter Warrior.
Essentially, they were Desolate Tomb Guards, but at the Extraordinary Level, possessing greater individual strength and Life Force.

[Description: An Undead skeleton born in the Land of Corruption. Imbued by a mysterious power, it has been a high-level Undead Creature since birth, incomparable to the weak skeletons of old.]
If the Black Knights were pure damage-dealing machines, then the Slaughter Warriors were unyielding frontline tanks.
They already had a naturally tough physique. Combined with the traits of a Heavy Armor Soldier allowing them to don heavy armor, they could withstand several fatal attacks and remain standing, even in this high-damage 'Mutual Kill Era'.
Coupled with Healing Skills like Possession Resurrection, Regeneration, and Vampire Mark—which were extremely rare in the Lord World—their survivability skyrocketed by several tiers.
More critically, as heavy armor units that were extremely difficult to Instant Kill, a 'Suppression Class' skill like Nether Fire Burst—which would normally immobilize both the user and the target—became their ultimate weapon on the battlefield.
It was like Donghuang Taiyi from King of Glory. If his suppression ultimate was used by an Assassin-type hero, it would be purely suicidal.
But when used by the extremely tanky Donghuang Taiyi himself, it became an undisputed Divine Technique.
'Badass.'
'Hundreds of Black Knights.'
'Hundreds of Slaughter Warriors.'
'And an Extraordinary Legion of several thousand, a mix of Skeleton Mages, Skeleton Swordsmen, Skeleton Gunners, and Skeleton Archers.'
'Other than the fact that these temporarily summoned Undead Soldiers can't leave the confines of the Land of Corruption... they have practically no weaknesses.'
As he mulled this over, the army sent by the Duke of the Northern Territory charged into the ghastly Land of Corruption. They had no time to wonder why the land had become so terrifying before a massive number of Undead Creatures surged out from its depths.
"We're under attack!!!"
"It's Undead Creatures!!!"
"It's the Undead Legion summoned by that Necromancer named Arthas!!!"
"Wait..."
"Is that..."
"Extraordinary Realm Undead Creatures!?"
In an instant, gasps of shock turned to screams of terror. The regular soldiers of the Northern Territory acting as vanguard Scouts scrambled to retreat, but facing a pincer attack from Skeleton Mages and Skeleton Archers, their escape was futile.
Countless soldiers from the Northern Territory fell in swathes, like wheat before a scythe, cut down in a deadly crossfire of arrows and Magic.
Then, their bodies were devoured by the black Land of Corruption underfoot. Their remaining Life Energy was completely siphoned away, instantly becoming nourishment for a new batch of Undead Creatures that struggled to claw their way out of the gray-black earth.
Of course, the Land of Corruption couldn't endlessly summon batch after batch of Undead Creatures, and it was by no means an invincible 'Terrain Magic'.
The key was to ensure that no living beings perished on this cursed land of death.
Otherwise, the fallen would continuously fuel the Land of Corruption. The spell, which could originally only summon several thousand Undead Creatures, would then be able to spawn tens, hundreds, or even thousands more.
Conversely, if one could defeat all the Undead Creatures on the Land of Corruption without suffering any casualties, the strange terrain would dissipate on its own.
However, this conclusion only applied to the original version of the "Land of Corruption" skill.
The current Land of Corruption, however, had been enhanced to the Epic Level through the Middle-earth Warhammer Module in Qin Feng's possession.
The thousands of Undead Creatures within it were all Extraordinary Level beings. Among them were exceptionally powerful Wing Connection and Elite soldier types like the Black Knights and Slaughter Warriors.
They wouldn't be so easy to get rid of.
'Go.'
'Arthas.'
'Give them a little shock and awe with the Sea of the Dead.'
The words had barely faded. Retaining some of his combat instincts, Arthas rode Qin Feng's Winged Dragon Beast and plunged straight into the center of the battlefield, right between the Northern Territory's army and the Extraordinary Skeletons. He then descended from the sky, his figure like that of a god presiding over slaughter.
Skill activated!
Awakening the Dead!
Summoning 500 Tomb Guards!
Skill activated!
Nagash's Gaze!
Converting 42 Desolate Tomb Guard Chiefs!
Qin Feng: "..."
'Huh?'
'Is that it?'
'That doesn't really count as a Sea of the Dead, does it?'
'Whatever, it's not a big deal. I'll just pretend the tens of thousands of Undead Soldiers from the Great Wall have joined the fight. Problem solved!'
'Besides!'
'Arthas's Necromancer skill set needs some time to warm up!'
'Once he maxes out the number of units for Awakening the Dead, *then* it'll be a true Sea of the Dead!'
Meanwhile, the Duke of the Northern Territory, who was personally leading the expedition, felt his heart jolt as he gazed upon the densely packed, Extraordinary Level Undead Creatures before him.
He suddenly realized that these powerful skeletal creatures, which had appeared so suddenly, were most likely connected to the strange black soil beneath his feet.
Recalling the characteristics of the Death Zone that appeared during the Evil God's rampage, he made a snap decision and barked an order to the Northern Territory army beside him:
"Retreat!"
"Get out of this black soil, now!"
"Once we're out of this area, these Undead Creatures won't be able to attack us anymore!"
Qin Feng: "?"
'Huh?'
'They're bailing already?'
'Did I just summon the Land of Corruption for nothing?'
'You're supposed to at least take out a few of my Extraordinary Skeletons! Let them wear down your forces a bit first!'
However, the Duke of the Northern Territory's retreat was astonishingly swift. In a matter of moments, he had led the Northern Territory army out of the Land of Corruption's area of effect.
And just as he had predicted, the Extraordinary Realm Undead Creatures were bound by the borders of the Land of Corruption. They were unable to pursue them past the boundary, much less harm them now that they were on normal ground.
"Haha!"
"I knew it!"
"As if mere Undead Creatures would dare act so brazenly before me!"
