Chapter 249 16: Land of Corruption! Massive Numbers of Extraordinary-Level Undead Soldiers
Chapter 249 16: Land of Corruption! Massive Numbers of Extraordinary-Level Undead Soldiers
Just as everyone was beginning to get a clear picture of Qin Feng's Holy Empire, Qin Feng, stationed at the Great Wall, had already spotted Gulad's army, sent by the Duke of the Northern Territory to provide reinforcements.
'That wily old fox... He certainly hid his true strength well.'
'To think he'd secretly amassed nearly two thousand Extraordinary Soldiers, yet he refused to send them to the main southern battlefield to support Flame Emperor Galukasa.'
However, while their numbers were great, their quality was far inferior to Qin Feng's Wing Connection Sielo Knights and Extraordinary Dragon Cavalry.
And as it happened, these two elite Extraordinary units could work in perfect tandem.
The Wing Connection Sielo Knights could use their Burning Aura to clear out the common soldiers who had yet to reach the Extraordinary Level, while the Extraordinary Dragon Cavalry could rely on their One-Strike Evasion tactic to flawlessly instant-kill the enemy's Extraordinary Soldiers and Heroic Units.
But in order to test the effects of his new skill, Land of Corruption, Qin Feng didn't rush to deploy them. Instead, he personally mounted a Winged Dragon and flew out, summoning a patch of Land of Corruption directly in the path of the Northern Territory's approaching reinforcements.
[You have summoned "Land of Corruption." Under the influence of "Necromancy Theory Mastery," all Undead Creatures within the Land of Corruption will have their strength increased by 2 tiers, and their spawning speed will be significantly increased!]
As the system prompt echoed, the earth before Qin Feng's eyes abruptly turned a deathly gray-black. Wisps of suffocating, dark necrotic energy began to gush from beneath the ground.
The gray-black ground resembled rotten flesh soaked in ink. Every inch of soil squirmed faintly, as if countless tiny vermin were roiling just beneath the surface.
The once-solid rock crumbled to dust under the corrosion of the necrotic energy. When the wind blew, it formed a black mist with a putrid stench that caused a burning sting wherever it clung to the skin.
A few withered trees nearby were decaying at a rate visible to the naked eye. Their bark peeled away like festering wounds, revealing wood that had already turned black and sticky. The remaining leaves hanging from the branches dissolved into a dark green slurry at the slightest touch, dripping down and splashing into ripples of gray light upon hitting the ground.
The air filled with the mixed stench of rust and rotting corpses. Inhaling it felt as if countless fine needles were pricking the lungs. Even the howling north wind was dyed a grayish purple. Wherever it swept past carrying the necrotic energy, the very gravel made a SIZZLING sound as it dissolved.
Viscous black fluid gushed from cracks in the ground, like the very blood of the earth. Wherever it flowed, the grass instantly withered and yellowed, and stones became coated in thick patches of mold. Even the sunlight shining on this area grew dim and feeble, as if filtered through an invisible black veil into a ghastly white that offered no warmth to the skin.
In the blink of an eye, the first Undead Creature burst forth from the gray-black Land of Corruption.
[A "Black Knight" has been born from your "Land of Corruption"!]

'Black Knight?'
'This thing is actually considered an advanced form of a Skeleton Soldier?'
'Well, alright.'
'That does make sense.'
'After all, in the original Warhammer lore, Black Knights were the resurrected corpses of knights brought back by Necromancers and Vampires, and their slowly decaying skeletal bodies are explicitly described.'
'But what the hell is up with this skill set?'
'The original Black Knight unit didn't have any unique skills, so you just ripped the skills from the Lich King's Death Knight and slapped them on here, is that it?'
'Why not throw in the Invincible Evil Aura while you're at it?'
His inner monologue finished, Qin Feng turned his attention to the other Undead Creatures summoned by the Land of Corruption. They were all uniformly Extraordinary Soldier Types, not like the previous Desolate Tomb Guard Chief, which only had Zero-star (Red) strength.
This included, but was not limited to, Skeleton Swordsmen, Skeleton Gunners, Skeleton Archers, and Skeleton Axe Warriors... Most were weakened, skeletal versions of conventional Extraordinary Soldier Types.
They didn't possess the same powerful individual strength as the Black Knights.
But their strength lay in their extremely vast numbers.
They also possessed the "watershed" bonus from the Extraordinary Realm and the "High Output for One-Shotting People" bonus.
