Legend of The Young Master

Chapter 66: Feeding

Chapter 66: Feeding

With a swift and calculated movement, Wuyi stepped forward, thrusting the end of his hand onto Li Jun's face. Before Li Jun could react, Wuyi's both bare hands had turned the deep red color of the Statue of Valor. The moment he touched Li Jun, Li Jun disappeared. The sudden disappearance of Li Jun left his dull companions shocked and bewildered.

One moment he was there, and the next, he was nowhere to be seen.

Swiftly retracting his red hand, Wuyi continued his assault, his hands now turned black. They caught CiXin's lower jaw with brutal force, then CiXin disappeared.

The third child witnessed the shocking events unfolding before him, his dull eyes widening as he observed the merciless disappearance of his group members. In a misguided attempt to get away from the range of Wuyi's hands, he hurled himself away.

Unperturbed, Wuyi followed. A Qi initiate can never outrun an adept.

Wuyi caught him without losing a breath - the third meal was consumed.

The other kids who were fighting the wolves did not understand what was going on until the very end before they were turned into energy.

Wuyi realized after the last kid had disappeared that the kids had disappeared but their clothes and everything was still there, fallen on the ground. Which meant the statues could convert only the living into energy. But still, this was one broken ability.

Wuyi got on the back of the Alpha desert wolf, and they continued their journey as if nothing had happened. He made sure to take the precious belongings of the children with him. Wuyi could feel his statues were burping in the Sacred Chamber with the sudden arrival of a large amount of energy.

As Wuyi resumed his journey back to Lujingbao Castle, he tried to take an emotional inventory. He had taken seven lives just now that were human.

A profound emptiness filled him for a moment. It was as if he had shed his emotions along the way, leaving behind an apathetic soul. Still, he was stable emotionally. He knew a lot of his stable emotions had to do with the Statue of Harmony in his chamber. One moment he was an enraged demon; another moment he was a calm boy sitting on the back of the Alpha wolf.

He mused that perhaps emotions were a luxury he could no longer afford, and he cared only about two people in this world that could have kept him in check. Now, having killed his two connections to this world, Wuyi had no doubt the world had royally wronged itself.

His return journey was without any excitement. Wuyi traveled with the beasts until he neared the nearest town to Lujingbao, at which point he bid them farewell by consuming them.

Night was on the horizon. He moved stealthily, avoiding people and any potential trouble that might arise.

Soon he arrived at Lujingbao fort. Tomorrow was supposed to be the day when the Spring festival celebration began - the fort was bustling.

With a cloak of invisibility from the Statue of Shadow, he sneaked past the guards at the gate, remaining unnoticed.

His first destination within the fort was the chamber where the lifeless bodies of Chao and Boluo were kept.

Both their bodies were kept in the same chamber. After their death, their bodies were picked up before dawn so no one would find out what had transpired.

Maybe if Wuyi had died, his body would have been kept here too before doing the last rites for all three at once by the Luyao clan.

The late hour meant there was only one guard. The guard was no cultivator, so Wuyi had no problem passing through him - no one felt his presence. Wuyi entered the chamber without any difficulty.

When he saw his two mentors dead, Wuyi knelt before the two bodies, tears welling up in his eyes.

With heartfelt words, he spoke to them, promising, "I won't let you go." In that moment, two red hands materialized out of nowhere, piercing through a rift in reality to gently cradle Boluo's body before disappearing with it.

He moved to Chao's lifeless form next, and as he approached, two black hands emerged from the void to envelop Chao's body before vanishing with it. Wuyi let out a sigh, his gaze lingering on the empty deathbeds that once held his two dear friends, his mentors, the only two people who really ever cared about him and died because of him.

With a heavy heart, he left the chamber, silently acknowledging the finality of their fates.

Wuyi moved quietly through the fort, he knew the fort like the back of his hand. Every nook and corner were familiar to him; he passed unnoticed, a shadow among shadows.

He navigated through the kitchen, bypassed the chambers of the newly arrived guests, passed through the main chambers of the clan members, moved past Congming's main courtyard, made his way to the clan hall, and moved to the end.

He reached the most secure corner of the fort.

Here there were guards in every corner of the fort. Wuyi did not move past them.

Instead, he snuck behind every guard present and touched them with his red or black hands.

Soon the guards started disappearing one by one. Wuyi acted so fast that none had time to realize what transpired. Most of these guards were mortal with a few Qi initiates; they were no challenge for Wuyi.

The final main guard was actually a hidden expert of the clan, a Qi adept at the skin-toughening stage, but unlucky for him, maybe he would have been a challenge for Wuyi if Wuyi was still in the skin-toughening stage, but Wuyi had reached a minor level ahead of him, and with him, he had his broken cheat of the statue of shadow.

Even the main guard could not figure out Wuyi's presence until Wuyi was behind him, touching him with his red hands. The guard struggled and jumped away, but before he could get away, almost half of his body had disappeared; only with the other half, he could just see who his assailant was before he fell down on the ground.

This surprised Wuyi too; he thought his statues could devour anyone in one go. For the first time, his statues could not devour someone all at once. This meant if his adversary was almost in equal power to him, Wuyi would take time to devour him. And if the adversary was stronger than him, then the statues might not be able to devour the person.

Still, Wuyi was quick to swallow the remaining of the guard.
