Legend of The Young Master

Chapter 65: Unexpected Assault

Chapter 65: Unexpected Assault

Yuanjing killed his two guardians. These were the cold, hard facts. Wuyi cautiously began to form assumptions based on them. He had no doubt that Gao was part of this conspiracy, but he couldn't fathom how Lord Congming had allowed it to happen.

But against Yuanjing, Congming might be helpless. It all began to make sense when he recalled Gao's cryptic mention of a secret technique—most probably, Gao might have said it was demonic. Yuanjing had likely approved this attack.

News of his rapid progress in cultivation through a secret technique that Gao had assumed must have reached them, more likely Gao would have sent it to them, triggering this sinister plot.

As Wuyi moved while contemplating, any beast, be it demonic or non-demonic he came across, Wuyi swallowed them without any concern. He was pleased that he was sent to this area instead of the desert. In the desert, he might not have been able to find many beasts, which would have delayed his journey.

By morning, he had already covered more than half the distance to Lujingbao, which had taken days before. Wuyi's keen geographical knowledge of the area, instilled in him by Master Fang, guided his actions. Instead of traversing the familiar and exposed clear paths, he opted for a riskier route through the rugged forest terrain, consuming every beast and creature on his path.

As he traveled relentlessly. When it was almost evening, he encountered a pack of desert wolves. These beasts were demonic too. Wuyi had covered enough distance to know he would be reaching the fort by night, even if he walked.

So he decided to take it slow now. Night was better for him to arrive. Teleporting continuously had tired him out—he needed to be in the best condition when he arrived at the fort. Instead of devouring the wolves for energy, Wuyi utilized the power of the Statue of Harmony to delve into the wolves' minds and control their thoughts.

Soon he was sitting on the back of the alpha, protected by the wolves, as they continued their journey. Traveling at a mild speed, the dense woods grew thinner around Wuyi, the hot sun was slowly sinking in the west, but now he had forged his muscles too—the heat did not matter to Wuyi.

On the back of the wolf, he channeled Qi and relaxed, restoring his stamina after having traveled more than 700 miles teleporting—no matter the muscle forging, it was a long distance for a Qi adept level cultivator.

As they traveled, a statue of harmony alerted him suddenly. They had traversed most of the secluded areas, drawing nearer to towns and villages near Lujingbao, a revelation struck Wuyi like a bolt of lightning.

A cold smile played on his lips as he comprehended the situation.

The truth was clear. The seven Qi initiate children of Gao, the future of Congming, all except himself, had been dropped close to civilization, strategically positioned to make their way back and successfully pass the test. Utilizing the powers of the Statue of Harmony, Wuyi sensed their presence.

They had not been dropped individually but as a group of seven close to each other; now, they were moving cautiously together. The test was a joke, a cruel joke played by Gao on Wuyi—he was dropped so far while the kids were dropped so close to the fort. But then again, that was expected.

Wuyi halted his beasts at a sufficient distance to remain unnoticed by the children. He guided the wolves to walk slowly towards them.

He used the Statue of Shadow to hide himself and the wolves from the senses of the children. In all honesty, Wuyi had nothing against these kids—if it were before, he would have ignored them or maybe beaten them up, but now things were different. He had to take revenge and think of his own survival.

All seven of them were walking slowly; they seemed to be exhausted, which made sense—they had just opened two or three vital points. The body would get tired.

As the sun moved to the west, turning red, the group halted. They decided to camp under a large tree for the night. They wanted to go to the fort the next day refreshed and full of energy.

While they planned to camp, suddenly, all seven of them felt their senses go dull. They felt exhausted, the world seemed a very dark place to them, they felt nothing was good in the world, they all felt sorrowful and lazy for some reason. The Statue of Harmony had done its work smoothly.

And then their group faced an unexpected assault. Wolves, and Wuyi himself, descended upon them in a coordinated strike.

Despite all the stealthy arcane knowledge imparted by Chao and the fighting strategies taught by Huo, at this moment of attack, Wuyi ignored all the teachings and guidance. He dawned on them as a menace, a demon hungry for flesh.

As the Statue of Harmony had made all the targets dull, the Statues of Shadow and Valor spun, a torrent of reddish-black strength surged through Wuyi, driving him into a frenzied state of determination. His initial targets were Li Jun, CiXin, and another slender child who had been clustered closely together.

The kids were feeling dull but still half-heartedly trying to fend off an attack by the wolves. No matter how dull they felt, when the attack came and it was about protecting their own lives, they tried to fight back, but they could only try.

Although the children numbered seven, the wolves in Wuyi's pack totaled thirteen, overwhelming their adversaries. Not to mention muscle-forged Wuyi himself. Similarly to how Boluo was overpowered by his assailant, these kids stood no chance against Qi adept Wuyi.

Adding to that, these were demonic wolves - lower beasts but nevertheless. Hence began the one-sided massacre.

Wuyi was just happy that he had saved the energy of the Statue of Harmony so long; he had these beasts do his bidding. After using these beasts, he planned to heartlessly turn them into his meal when he reached the fort, boosting the energies of Valor and the Statue of Shadow.
