Chapter 730 - 730 720 The Crying Ancient Dragon
Chapter 730: Chapter 720: The Crying Ancient Dragon Chapter 730: Chapter 720: The Crying Ancient Dragon “Master Shifanlin, I entrust the resolution of that Ancient Green Dragon to you.” The Red Dragon Cynthia said with great respect, looking at the legendary figure before her, which stood five meters tall, with a human upper body, snake-like lower body, and eagle wings.
“Sure, but after we win this war, I want half of the Ancient Green Dragon’s treasures.” Shifanlin looked at the gang of dragons before him and stated his demand.
“That may be a problem.” A dragon immediately voiced an objection. The highest-ranking dragon within a Green Dragon Tribe inevitably possessed the most wealth, and now Shifanlin had demanded half of that wealth, making it difficult for the multi-colored dragons to swallow.
“Without even starting the fight, how can you demand so much?” Another dragon echoed, and as their voice sounded, many dragons nodded in agreement.
“Without me holding back this Ancient Green Dragon, you can’t take down this Green Dragon Tribe, so it’s not outrageous for me to demand half of the treasures.” Shifanlin firmly stated. He may have lost his memory, but he certainly wasn’t stupid, he wouldn’t let these despicable dragons use him as a pawn, he demanded a worthy reward for his contribution.
“But your biggest role is to constrain the Legendary Green Dragon. Unless you can defeat that dragon on your own, you can’t take that much treasure.”
“If I can defeat that Ancient Green Dragon on my own, then I only need to give you the value of this information. I can handle the Green Dragon Tribe by myself.” Shifanlin said with utter confidence.
“Without our help, you can’t take down the Green Dragon Tribe. Do you think the other green dragons are silly? Would they simply watch as you battle their matron? You are too naive.”
“Enough bickering. We haven’t even subdued the Green Dragon Tribe yet, and you are already fighting over something you haven’t yet acquired. Look at the disgraceful display of yourselves.” Finally, Cynthia stepped forward.
“Shifanlin, asking for 50% is too much. However, I can agree right now that if we win this war, you get 30% of the treasure that the Legendary Green Dragon has. If you want more, that depends on your performance on the battlefield. You’re not a fool and neither am I. All the spoils will be distributed according to the effort contributed in battle, the greater the effort, the more you get. The distribution of spoils isn’t decided by the strength of the participant.”
Setting the reward before the battle is too naive. If victory is already assured, some might even try to deliberately underachieve, while distributing the spoils based on military achievements forces Shifanlin to give it his all if he wants more.
“Then who decides how much military achievement one has achieved?”
“By old rules, we can’t trust anyone, so naturally we need Prince Mureya’s bodyguards to verify.” Quickly, eight Storm Giants riding Giant Peng descended from the sky at the call of another dragon.
They wouldn’t participate in this war against the Green Dragon Tribe, but they would serve as witnesses, recording everything happening on the battlefield to serve as a basis for determining military achievements.
…
“You damned bastards, dare to destroy my tribe, I will remember this grudge.” The enormous ancient dragon, resembling a jade carvings, looked at her nest engulfed in a sea of flames, anger showing in her eyes, “You’d better pray that you can always stay together, otherwise I will retaliate in kind. I’ll make you understand the pain I’m feeling right now.”
“And you, you cobbled together monster, I remember you.” At last, the battle-worn Ancient Green Dragon looked at Shifanlin, who held knives in both hands. If it wasn’t for this monster restraining her, her tribe wouldn’t have suffered such a destructive loss.
“Trying to run away.” Seeing the Ancient Green Dragon starting to spit threats, Shifanlin’s eyes narrowed, his sleek snake tail swiftly pulling through the air, and the entire person immediately rushed towards the green dragon.
“I admit you are strong, but if I want to go, you can’t stop me.” Seeing the monster, waving his knives and quickly slashing towards him, the green dragon laughed proudly. Her massive dragon body easily tore through space and disappeared into it.
“You really think you can escape? Idiot.” Seeing the ancient dragon escaping from under his blade, Shifanlin didn’t pursue it, instead he turned to observe the edge of the battlefield. There was a Storm Giant riding a Giant Peng, who had been recording everything from the start of the battle to this moment.
…
“Those cursed little monsters, I have remembered all your auras, wait for my revenge!” The ancient dragon travelling at high speed through a space rift said angrily.
“Who are you planning to revenge?” An indifferent voice, laced with annoyance, suddenly reached the ancient dragon’s ears.
“Who?” In the midst of the Space Rift, the Green Dragon that was hurtling at extreme speed suddenly heard this voice, causing its scales to stand on end.
“I’m Asimio, the Ten-winged Archangel!” A dazzling light appeared in front of the Green Dragon, taking the form of a robust figure. He was clad in exquisite armor, a Greatsword in hand. His pristine white wings stretched out behind him, expressionless as he watched the Green Dragon, whose body was much larger than his own.
“The Ten-winged Archangel!” Seeing this being, who emanated the aura of a high-level Legendary creature, the Ancient Green Dragon that had been contemplating revenge was greatly alarmed. “What are you stopping me for?”
A bad premonition rose in the heart of the Ancient Dragon. According to common sense, angels and the Five-colored Dragons should never mix, but she had witnessed too many things today that broke her previous understanding.
For instance, among the Five-colored Dragons that attacked her tribe today, many were essentially monstrous creatures in dragon’s skin. The most memorable ones included a Black Dragon that could spew five different types of Dragon Breath, and a Metallic Dragon covered in enormous magic mechanisms, carrying two Magic Cannons and shooting everywhere recklessly.
These were only the two most noticeable monsters among all the dragons. There were even more bizarre beings, like the one she had fought with, which was a monstrous creature stitched together from the bodies of various powerful Legendary Creatures.
“I have been ordered by the Lord of Dragons to capture you,” said the Ten-winged Archangel Asimio with a solemn expression, “Surrender without resistance. Follow me obediently to meet the Lord of Dragons!”
“Absurd!” Instinctively sensing that this so-called Lord of Dragons was no good, the Ancient Green Dragon roared, spewed a mouthful of Dragon Breath at the Archangel with all her might, then turned tail and fled. The last thing she wanted to do was to pick a fight with a high-level Legendary Archangel.
“Why didn’t you just surrender peacefully? That would’ve saved everyone some energy.” Watching the fleeing Green Dragon, Asimio sighed. His ten wings flapped, transforming into a stream of light as he gave chase. During this process, his body emitted a continuous aura of light, which eventually turned into a pure white Sword Qi storm, covering the Green Dragon. Shortly after, a heart-wrenching scream echoed through the Space Rift.
“Why do you struggle in vain? Why endure such pain for nothing? Won’t the end result be the same?” A while later, a heroic Angel walked out from a tear in the Space, not far from the original location of the Green Dragon Tribe. In his grip was a nearly sixty meters long Dragon Tail. The Ancient Dragon attached to it appeared to be dead, all its limbs and wings drooping.
“Do you think you can escape from me? If so, you must think little of me.” This Archangel seemed to be speaking to himself. He sighed and gave a fling of his hand, carrying the injured Green Dragon, its wounds beginning to scab over.
The immense size difference between the Angel and the Dragon created a striking contrast. Unable to resist the constant mockery by the angel, the Green Dragon, who was pretending to be dead, opened her eyes and glared at him resentfully. “As an Angel of the Heavenly Realm, aren’t you ashamed to be associating with the Five-Colored Dragons?”
“They’re not the Five-Colored Dragons you think they are. They are good dragons who take delight in overcoming evil and promoting good,” Asimio, the Ten-Winged Archangel, replied, full of righteousness. He believed that all those under Muria were good dragons and that anyone who dared to deny that should be fought until they agreed.
“So these are your so-called good dragons.” The Ancient Green Dragon turned her head slightly, looking sorrowfully at her former lair. Thick black smoke billowed from her original tribe, shooting straight up into the sky. Cheers from the evil dragons emerged from the smoke. She recognized that sound well—it was the jubilant roar of the dragons reveling in their loot.
Thinking of the loot made this Ancient Dragon think of her own collection that she didn’t have time to take with her. At this thought, tears of sorrow fell from the dragon’s eyes. So overwhelmed with grief, she hardly felt any sensation from the wounds covering her body.
“Why are you crying?” Asimio stared at the Green Dragon in his hands with a somewhat puzzled expression, bemused at the tears rolling down her eyes. Despite living for thousands of years, it was the first time he’d seen an Ancient Dragon shed tears. Who would believe this if he spoke of it?
“I’ll bring this dragon with me.” After catching the Green Dragon, Asimio paraded the dragon around the rampaging horde of Five-colored Dragons to establish that they no longer needed to fear the retaliation of an Ancient Dragon. “From now on, you can act freely without fear. Whatever you do, we are always supporting you.”
After saying that, Asimio, ignoring the astonished stares of the dragons, tore open another Space Rift and returned to Xena Pus with the Green Dragon.
“Where is this?” Moving her gaze from the Cloud Islands shrouded in mist to the young dragons frolicking and the many patrolling giants on the islands, the terrified Ancient Green Dragon also took in the sight of the dwarves and elves building structures.
“Xena Pus, the place where your fate will be decided,” Asimio glanced at the frightened Green Dragon, then, noticing the tears in her eyes, kindly advised, “Make sure to present yourself well later. Whether you will be sealed in a pillar or become part of the ruling class depends on your choices.”
Soon, amidst the reverent gaze of a group of giants, the angel dragged the Ancient Dragon into the Wind King Castle.
“Prince Mureya, I have fulfilled your command,” he reported.
