Kill Me, My Love

Chapter 46

Chapter 46

The man plunged his hand into the inner pocket of his coat and pulled out a small bundle.

– Here is the sleeping powder. You’ll put it in the drink, and in a few minutes, the dark one will be sleeping sweetly.

The girl nodded, taking the package, and quietly asked:

– What makes you so sure that I will die in the Abyss?

– Lina-Lina, – the Light sighed. – It’s precisely because of this theory that Nakir is not sitting in prison but contentedly living in Elysium. He foresaw your death. By the way, voluntary.

Nathan smiled crookedly and, turning abruptly, left the room. In his gaze, the girl read the cold certainty that Lina would indeed commit suicide. This sent chills down her spine.

The girl stared ahead at the empty hallway, clutching the sleeping powder in her hand, unable to recover. Her father is the creator of the theory. He is also that mysterious prophet through whom everything began. And Lilith said he was noble. Well, they deserve each other. Parents who wish death upon their own daughter.

It was unknown how long Lina stood like a statue, pondering everything Nathaniel had said, and after some time, Suzy started calling her. The cartoon had ended.

The next hours passed in a fog. The girl found herself in a strange state. It was as if she continued to actively do something, played board games with the child, laughed, and chatted. However, she saw everything as if from the outside. For all the time, she replayed the phrases of the Light in her head. "The world deserves another chance." "You won't let so many innocent souls die." "Your beloved dark one will stay alive." Like the voice on a damaged recording, his words echoed in her mind, convincing her, forcing her to submit.

Finally, she heard the creak of the door. Sam had returned.

Next to him was a nice elderly woman. She was tastefully dressed in a long lilac dress, with shoes featuring satin straps and an elegant hat. She held a handbag pressed to her chest, nervously glancing around. When her gaze found Suzy, her face lit up. Her blue eyes brightened, and the tiny wrinkles around her lips and eyes smoothed out.

– Hello, – she greeted first while Samael stood shifting his weight in the hallway.

– Good afternoon, – Lina replied, casting a questioning glance at her beloved.

She looked at the dark one, asking with her gaze: "Who did you bring here and for what purpose?" So the man immediately began explaining.

– This is Mrs. Mary Stuart, the widow of a business partner. She will take care of you, Suzy, while we resolve all our issues.

Hearing this, the child froze, moving her gaze from Lina to Mary, from Mary to Lina.

And before a children's tantrum could begin, the girl said:

– Yes, yes. Suzy, meet this lovely lady. You will stay with her for some time. Sam and I have encountered certain difficulties at work, so until we sort them out, it's better for you to live with Mrs. Stuart.

– She has a country villa and two grandkids your age. I think you'll make friends and have a wonderful time, – the dark one smiled brightly.

– And I also have a stable, a wonderful forest for picnics, a swimming pool, and lots of kittens. You love kittens, don’t you, dear? – the elderly lady asked, smiling gently.

– I adore them, – the little girl nodded, probably already imagining this beautiful home. – How long will I be your guest?

– Well, it all depends on your wish and the guardians' possibilities, – Mary Stuart said mysteriously.

– I hope you’re not offended that we didn't warn you in advance? – Lina asked. – It’s just that we can’t be by your side right now, and leaving you alone is a bad idea, so we decided it would be better for you to be in the company of children and in wonderful conditions. What do you say, Suzy?

– Well... – the child pondered for a moment. – I think we will have a great time, although I will miss you.

The girl threw herself into Lina's arms, hugging her tightly like a mother. At that moment, everything fell into place. Feeling the warm embrace and genuine tenderness that required no confirmation or explanations, the girl made her final decision. She would hate herself if she became the cause of this curly miracle's demise.

And how many more such wonderful children are in the world! Sincere, kind, open, who continue to rejoice in every moment of life, despite any hardships. What treachery to selfishly take this world from them. How lowly Lina felt in that moment. How could she have thought for so long, hesitated? When everything was crystal clear. She would sacrifice herself, giving a chance to millions. Yes, it would be difficult. It would hurt. Dying is frightening. She would lose Samael, her only love, but even such a great, pure feeling pales next to the weight of thousands of innocent souls.

Lina exhaled and released her embrace. Tears gathered in the corners of her eyes. She understood that she was seeing Suzy for the last time, but now she was giving the girl hope for a happy future.

– That's it, go to Mrs. Stuart, it wouldn't be proper to keep such a lovely respectable lady waiting.

The curly miracle smiled, showing her prettiest dimples and, hopping, approached the lady. The woman took the child by the hand, elegantly waving goodbye with her palm, and left the living room. Samael went to see them off while Lina hugged her knees, listening to Suzy's ringing voice gradually fading away with every second.

A void appeared in her heart that no one and nothing would ever fill.

When Sam returned, she continued to remain silent. For him, the struggle was still ongoing, but for her – everything was decided. The main thing now was to act according to Nathaniel's plan and not raise any suspicions.

– Are you upset about Suzy? – the dark one asked, sitting down next to her on the couch.

– Yes. I will miss her, – Lina sighed. – Although, at the same time, it brings me joy knowing she is in good hands.

– Yes, you should have seen how Mary got flustered when she heard the story of our rescued little one. At first, she reached for her heart medication, then barely held herself back from calling the police. She wanted the authorities to find those foster parents and take away their parental rights. I barely calmed her enthusiasm, convincing her that I would handle everything myself. I told her the main goal now was to ensure a carefree life for the child. So I'm confident Suzy will feel like she is in a personal little paradise. We don’t need to worry about her.

Samael looked tired but happy. It was extremely important for him to pass the girl into the care of a caring, responsible person.

– And now let's get back to old pies, – the man said, stroking the girl’s leg. – We need to get out of here. After all, the Abyss of Abaddon is not far away, so we are in direct proximity to the main source of danger. We'll head west; I have a few fresh ideas. We need to meet with a few dark ones, maybe we’ll discover something new.

Lina's heart sank. Damn, why is Sam so astute? She needed to quickly think of a way to stay longer.

– Are you sure that will affect the situation in any way?

– Not drastically, but we can't sit still waiting for the weather to change.

– Sam, I think this is a bad idea to leave here.

– Why?

– First of all, because we're safe here. If neither the dark nor the light have found us all this time, then we can breathe easy. But if we travel around, change routes, we could run into someone from them. You don't know their search trajectories. They are probably scouring the states looking for us. So it's better to hide and resolve things quietly and inconspicuously. Not to use the power of speech... You can meet with your acquaintances using a car and phone. I will sit in the room the whole time. I won’t go out. I think this option is optimal, – the girl blurted out her speech in one breath.

She was surprised herself that she found so many arguments in favor of an openly disastrous option.

But Samael was thoughtful, evidently not expecting such a passionate and convincing monologue from Lina.

– I don't even know... There’s a grain of truth in your words... But I'm concerned. If we are discovered, it will be too easy to take you to Abaddon. I won’t forgive myself if I lose you due to banal carelessness.

– You won’t lose me.

The girl triumphed, as she had planted doubts in the man’s heart. Now she needed to cement them or postpone them until the next day. So she decided to use the most treacherous weapon in her feminine arsenal – passion.

Lina wrapped her arms around the dark one’s neck and captured his lips in a sweet captivity, automatically ending any conversations. Of course, all rational thoughts from the man's mind, who had not had any affection for several days, were immediately swept away. Desire took precedence.

The kiss became deeper and more emotional, igniting passion like a wildfire during a drought.

Thus, the lovers spent most of the night, certainly not thinking about pressing matters.
