Kill Me, My Love

Chapter 25

Chapter 25

She felt that the dark one had prepared something special. But for now, she decided not to focus on that; she wanted freedom the most. To walk the streets, to be a simple mortal among ordinary people. Perhaps, this was a special kind of masochism, as the girl was sure that guilt would start eating her alive. However, it was better to see for herself what was happening outside.

So, she quickly snacked on fruits, took a shower, which was still steaming from use. She found clothes – jeans and a T-shirt. Also, in the wardrobe, in a black cover, hung the dress. She decided not to peek in there for now; it would be a surprise.

Lina left the room, remembering her number – sixty-six. And within a few minutes, she was walking down a crowded street. She didn’t know which city she was in, but the scale was immediately impressive. So many people, tall buildings, expensive cars, and the traffic jams they created. The girl felt like a small insect – no one looked at her. It seemed that even if she stripped naked, no one would pay attention.

By the sidewalks, homeless people sat with metal containers for change, accompanied by stray dogs. Lina's heart ached when she saw their sunken ribs and the fur infested with insects. But she could not ease their suffering. At least not yet...

She then turned into some alley. Here, there were almost no people. By the garbage bins, so much waste had accumulated that it overflowed onto the street. The smell was appropriate. A few meters away, leaning against the wall, stood two teenagers. Tattered jeans, acid-colored hats, and dark hoodies. The boys held a woman's purse and were frantically rummaging through its contents.

– Thieves, – she whispered to herself, stating the obvious.

The teenagers, seeing her, initially froze, scared it might be the owner of the items. But after a few seconds, they relaxed and, bristling, shouted:

– What do you want, get out of here!

Lina immediately realized that it was better to leave the alley, keeping her distance.

– Get lost, get lost, if you don’t want us to... – the boys yelled after her and laughed rudely.

– You won’t be laughing for long, – Lina said, not caring whether they heard her, and turned back onto the main street.

She wandered around until nearly evening. Seeing the same thing everywhere. Pompous wealth against the backdrop of terrible poverty. And the people around – harsh, indifferent, filled with lies and hypocrisy. All those women in limos and their disgusting, fat, old men. Could they possibly be together because of such a noble feeling as love? No, it's just a business transaction. Advantage. The man gets regular sex, and the woman gets a regular bank account.

Returning to the hotel, she stood under the shower for a long time, trying to wash away all this filth. There was little time left before nine, so she dried her hair and approached the wardrobe.

She pulled out the cover and unzipped it. A long black dress, simple yet infinitely sexy, awaited its mistress.

Lina understood that such beauty shouldn’t be worn with underwear. So, she made the only right decision – she put it on over her bare body. Next to the dress lay elegant heels and earrings.

Once she was dressed, the girl approached the mirror and was stunned. The wildly extreme cut of the dress exposes almost her entire leg, making it as long as possible. The earrings accentuated her swan-like neck, and the thin straps with the silky bodice showcased her rounded, appetizing curves to absolute advantage. Sam would be pleased with her appearance.

Lina took one last look at herself and left the room. She felt both like a fatal woman and a fairy-tale princess. Ahead of her were the stairs, and below awaited her one and only. The girl took a few steps down and saw him.

A black suit, a snow-white shirt, a bow tie, and a look that undressed her.

Lina walked slowly, holding the fabric with one hand so that it wouldn't come apart, revealing anything that shouldn't be shown to other men. Yes, now she was a queen. All eyes were on her. But only one excited her the most.

She didn't need any compliments; those black eyes spoke volumes more than the most eloquent words in the world.

When she reached the bottom, Sam went down on one knee and delicately taking her hand, kissed the girl on the wrist. In that moment – the world froze. It was just the two of them and the fire that raged between them. Eyes – locked on each other. Hearts – pounding in unison.

– Lina, you... – he said in a hoarse, deep voice. – You are exquisite.

– Thank you, – she replied shyly, looking down. – So what's the reason for such an appearance?

– You'll find out soon, – the dark one smiled mischievously and, rising, offered his arm gallantly.

Outside, a luxurious bright red car awaited the couple. Soft music was playing inside, two glasses of champagne were already filled. During the ride, they remained silent. But it wasn’t that awkward silence typical of first dates – no. Lina and Sam sat across from one another. The air around them heated up. Even a slight touch, when the girl accidentally brushed her shoe against Samael’s leg, ignited a storm of feelings in both.

Lina sat, realizing that they were both curbing their desires. If the driver suddenly slammed the brakes and she accidentally bumped against Sam, the scenario would be obvious. They would both tell all their plans to hell and surrender to their darkest, most passionate yearnings.

However, the trip proceeded without incidents. They got out by a tall glass building. Then, they took the elevator to the top floor.

– Today, it’s all just for us, – the dark one said, showing the girl the stunning restaurant.

It was completely transparent. Below, the city flickered with lights under the floor, while above the silvery stars sparkled. Each table had a lit candle, and in the center stood a table set for two. There were no people around.

The girl held her breath, scared to step on the transparent floor. It felt as if all the tables hung in midair, and they weren’t walking but flying with Sam.

The man helped Lina sit down and said:

– Well, I think you’re intrigued.

– Intrigued would be putting it mildly. I want to understand what I did to deserve all this, – the girl gestured around her.

– Darling, you deserve not only this but the whole world, – the dark one softly replied, uncorking the wine.

A crimson liquid poured into the crystal glasses, reSambling blood in some ways.

– So?

– I made an important decision when I lost you, – Samael’s face grew serious, and the girl understood: everything he was about to say was extremely serious. – I don’t know what awaits us in the future, but no one in this world will harm you. I swear I will rip the throat out of anyone who so much as looks at you wrong. And as for the spicy situation with the apocalypse, we’ll try to solve it; I have some connections... I don’t believe that there’s no way out, that there won’t be loopholes in the prophecy. You and I, we will be together, no matter the cost.

That was it. It was fatal. Sam said what the girl had not even dared to dream about hearing. With his words, he just gifted a chance for both of them.

– Samael, – was all Lina could say.

The lump of emotions stuck in her throat, and so the words just vanished.

She was so happy that she wanted to cry. She understood that he wasn't promising her any guarantees; in such a situation, there can be no guarantees, but the very desire to change everything meant a lot.

– And how will your family react to this? Your father and Margarita... You promised to save her.

– Lina, very soon a whole world will rise against us. And if you are ready to fight alongside me, then nothing else matters. Moreover... As soon as they find out... Both the light and the dark, everyone will be hunting us. Right now, we have only one single evening to enjoy each other.

Samael took a few sips of wine and continued:

– I want you to feel what it’s like to live life to the fullest. Let’s forget everything, any problems and worries. There is still a whole night ahead.

Lina nodded and also took a sip of wine. The bittersweet liquid quickly coursed through her body, relaxing it. The girl leaned back in her chair and looked at the sky.

She felt like she was on cloud nine in bliss. Myriads of stars sparkled coldly, watching over a world that lay at their feet. And Lina looked at them, subconsciously feeling a connection. Today this world also belonged to her.

Samael keenly observed every reaction of the girl. He was satisfied with what he had arranged and, therefore, noted even the slightest emotion on his beloved’s face.

The food on the table steadily cooled down, so while the exquisite dishes hadn’t completely lost their taste, the dark one filled the plates with select seafood in a fantastic creamy sauce.

– You have to try this. They say that tasting this dish can, for a few moments, transport you to southern France.

The girl smiled and, taking the fork in her hands, ate a few pieces.

– Sweet, aromatic, a bit sour. Very delicious, – Lina concluded, savoring every bite on her plate. – Now I want dessert.

– Dessert? There’s tiramisu and exotic fruits, – Sam replied, surprised by the girl's good appetite.

– I’m not talking about that dessert, – she smiled mysteriously and deliberately nudged her shoe against the man's leg.

At that moment, Samael clearly understood what Lina meant. Without further ado, he got up and offered her his hand.

– There was another reason why I chose this place. The designers created an exclusive suite.

The man led the girl out of the restaurant and then forward through the corridor. Eventually, they reached the snow-white doors.

– Go in, – said Sam, releasing her hand, giving her the chance to enter first.

Lina pushed the door and froze. She felt as if she had entered open space; stars sparkled around, and a silvery moon shone. In the center was a bed with black silk sheets. It seemed the girl could stand there forever, admiring the view, but Sam had other plans.
