Chapter 13
Chapter 13
Suddenly, two pillars of light appeared simultaneously in the room: one black and one white. One shot straight up from the floor, and the other from the ceiling. After a few moments, the men emerged from there. The light one had blue eyes, alabaster skin, and gray hair. He was dressed in a golden cloak and sandals. The dark one had blood-red eyes, tightly sealed lips, and fierce, bushy eyebrows. He wore only black pants and a leather vest.
– Where is Samael? Where is Nathaniel? – they asked simultaneously.
Lina pointed at the door, and at that moment they swung open, and the guides entered the room. Seeing the newcomers, they stopped in shock.
– Father? – Sam asked.
– What are you doing here? – Nathan added.
– We're here to remind you of the importance of the mission! – the light one declared.
– What the hell are you doing in the hospital if you’ve already past four states??? – the dark one shouted.
– It’s all too complicated, – Nathaniel began to explain.
– Demien told everything, I’m very disappointed in you, son. There are scandals in Elysium; you almost ruined the whole world. Do you even understand what important task you need to complete?
– We understand, – Samael ground out through clenched teeth.
– Then why is the subject still here? You shouldn't be concerned about her feelings or comfort. She’s just a vessel holding power, and nothing more!!! – the dark one yelled.
Sam and Nathan's parents had obvious power over their sons. The sons just lowered their heads, listening to their displeasure.
– You must immediately retrieve the subject and proceed with her to the gates of Abaddon. I don’t care how you do it, but on the thirty-first of October at exactly six in the morning, the vessel must meet with the hellfire. Otherwise, we all – the whole world – will vanish forever! – Nathan's father declared.
His eyes sparked with lightning, and his lips were tightly sealed. Lina looked back and forth between the dark and the light and realized that there was no difference between them except for their clothing. Absolutely none.
– Uriel will occasionally check on you to ensure you are acting according to the plan.
– If anything goes wrong, our parents will intervene immediately, and then, Samael, you can forget about your life on Earth! – the dark one shouted.
– Alright, we will do everything, – Nathan said. – It’s our honor to carry out this mission; we won’t let you down.
– I hope so, – the light one said. – There are exactly twenty days left.
He crossed his arms over his chest and said:
– Sursum.
– Samael, remember the reward. Margarita is eagerly waiting for you in her cage. Once the subject is destroyed, I will return her to you, – the dark one said, also crossing his arms over his chest and whispering. – Descendit.
Now, only the guides were left in the room, who had just received a good parental scolding, along with the girl who felt a furious disgust for the people she had begun to consider friends.
Suddenly, thunder rumbled outside, and then lightning flashed. This meant only one thing – a powerful downpour was approaching.
– Nathan, return to the bar; our car is parked there. Call me when you get here, and we’ll come down.
– Alright, – the man agreed without further ado and, without even looking at Lina, left the room.
The girl felt her heartbeat quicken in anger. Where did the dizziness and pain in her head go? Now she burned with her gaze on Samael and just waited for him to say something first.
– You need to understand, – the dark one whispered, looking somewhere out the window.
– WHO. IS. MARGARITA? – Lina asked slowly and clearly.
Her breath became heavy, as if the air suddenly thickened, and her palms began to tremble.
– It doesn’t matter...
– IT DOES! WHO. IS. MARGARITA? – the girl repeated again.
How she wanted to walk up to the man, turn him to face her, look straight into his eyes, and punch him in the face with all her might, so that blood would splatter everywhere. But for now, Lina restrained herself and continued to lie still.
– She... Lina, it’s a long story, too old and unimportant in the context of today’s events.
Thunder rumbled again. Only this time, much closer. The girl looked out the window and saw a giant black cloud in the sky drifting straight towards the hospital. This cloud was as threateningly dark as her thoughts.
– It matters, considering that to free Margarita, you decided to become my guide!
– Fine, – Samael slammed his fist on the windowsill, leaving a dent. – Do you want to know everything? Here it is: Margarita is my fiancée. We have been friends since childhood and knew we would get married someday. I was really in love with her once... But my father uses her only to manipulate me. He makes her suffer. Tortures... Maims... He’s a true sadist. I had no choice; I must help her.
The girl felt as if she had just been struck in the solar plexus. Samael loves another woman, he has a fiancée, and for her, he is ready to kill her. But he didn’t even object to his father when Lina was referred to as “the subject,” a vessel of destructive energy. He didn’t say a word against him. And that only meant one thing – that he truly doesn’t care about her. That she is just a mission, a way to get his Margarita.
It started to rain. Powerful, threatening. It became a solid wall of water longing to swallow anyone who carelessly stood beneath it.
– I hate you, – Lina ground out through clenched teeth, and in one swift motion, ripped all the tubes from her arm. – You’re disgusting to me!
She took off the breathing mask and stood up from the bed.
– You’re a liar, you only care about yourself. All your concern is a facade. All your words are empty. You are nobody and nothing to me. Just another treacherous dark one. You are just as cruel as the members of the order. To you, I am nothing, a soulless being! An apocalypse in a female body. Right, Samael?
Sam didn’t look at the girl; his hands had turned white from tension, and his gaze was fixed on the floor.
– I hate you! – Lina whispered in his ear.
Then, feeling she could no longer contain her rage, she simply dashed out of the room. She raced through the corridors, ignoring the people and staff. She heard nothing, as the only sound in her head was the frantic beating of her heart. She had become a madwoman, and now feared nothing. Shoving open the entrance doors, she was immediately met by the pouring rain. Lightning zipped across the sky one after another, and the water splashed against her, enveloping her fragile, slender body. The hospital gown instantly soaked, clinging to her skin. The girl spread her arms wide, threw back her head, and inhaled the rain. She was the rain. Fierce, cruel, cold. She had turned into pure hatred. Blinding and crystal clear.
– Lina! – Samael shouted.
He stood a meter away from her. Wet, angry, a true king of darkness with his black bottomless eyes.
– Get away from here! – the girl yelled.
They locked eyes, each filled with true rage. Even the air between them turned dark, and the rain seemed to become drops of blood.
– I’M NOT GOING ANYWHERE! – he slowly began to approach her, hypnotizing her with his gaze.
– You will! – Lina retorted.
She tried to step back, but felt as if her legs were glued to the asphalt.
– You’re not playing by the rules!
– I create the rules myself! – Sam shouted.
Moments later, he lunged at the girl and pinned her to the asphalt. Lina felt she had no control over her body. Her arms felt as if they were squeezed in some invisible vice, while the rest of her body was pressed against Sam. His gaze was pure passion and desire. He stared at her for several seconds, then kissed her. Roughly, brutally, penetrating with his tongue, exploring her, robbing her. Their bodies entwined in the rain, as if they were trying to fight each other. But in this war, there are no winners. His lips were everywhere. On her neck, stomach, breasts. They were one. Lina melted from his touch, caresses, sensual bites, and heat. She reached out to him and had no strength to suppress her breathy moans. Sam instantly tore the thin hospital gown and trailed his tongue down her body. From her collarbone, between her breasts, to her hips...
– You are mine, – he whispered hoarsely. – Mine.
– Yours... – Lina responded and pulled the man closer to her.
She kissed him fervently, uncontrollably; she had no reason to stop, to restrain her darkness. She felt his erection and readiness to eliminate the last barrier.
But Samael held back. Suddenly, he stopped, looking deep into Lina's eyes for a long moment:
– Not here, not like this.
He kissed her once more. This time gently and very tenderly.
Then he stood up, helped Lina to her feet, and just then, a car with Nathan pulled up to them.
– Did I miss something? – the light one asked, puzzled as he looked at the wet Samael and flushed girl.
Lina barely held back a smile, wrapped herself in the torn gown, and felt as if she had just raced to the top of some mountain.
– Everything is fine! – Samael said and opened the car door. (He was a perfect calm and straightforward. As if none of this madness had just happened). – The journey continues.
