Invincible through Touching Corpses

Chapter 143 - 142: Annihilation

Chapter 143 - 142: Annihilation

Qiu Taifei looked at the screen full of red warnings, feeling like he’d just survived a catastrophe. When his mecha’s display had shown the missile lock-on, he was sure he was going to die.

Thankfully, he had reacted quickly enough and responded just in time.

The feeling of relief was still lingering when he suddenly sensed the flash of a black blade coming for him. The suffocating sense of death enveloped him once more.

It was Fang Tianhe’s Vibrating Giant Blade.

Seeing this, Qiu Taifei’s eyes were bloodshot with fury. He couldn’t believe Fang Tianhe was being so reckless, not leaving him a single chance to survive!

To keep them tied down, the members of the Heaven-Sundering Mercenary Corps had only retreated at the last possible moment before the missiles struck.

Although they weren’t hit directly, they were definitely caught in the blast.

Under these circumstances, if it had been him, knowing victory was assured, he definitely would have waited a moment for the aftershocks of the explosion to subside.

But Fang Tianhe, to land the finishing blow, had charged straight through the blast’s aftershocks, even at the risk of damaging his own Mecha.

Qiu Taifei had to admit that an attack at this moment was absolutely fatal for him.

His Mecha was too heavily damaged. Its systems were all running self-diagnostics and emergency repairs. If he’d had just a few more seconds, things might have been different, but right now, only the Mecha’s right arm could move.

Qiu Taifei gritted his teeth and could only desperately raise his right arm to block.

He could only pray he’d be in time, but a bullet glowing with blue light shattered his hope.

Struck by a bullet infused with the Celestial Frost Superpower, the Mecha’s movements instantly froze. Qiu Taifei watched, wide-eyed, as the pitch-black great saber pierced his cockpit. The next instant, his vision went black, and all consciousness faded.

After finishing off Qiu Taifei, Fang Tianhe quickly turned his attention to Geoffrey.

Geoffrey’s Mecha wasn’t damaged. After dodging the missile attack, he had unhesitatingly chosen to flee.

Since he hadn’t been hit by the missile, his Mecha’s performance was unaffected, despite the damage it had sustained in the prior battle.

In any other situation, or against any other enemy, his chances of escape would have been high.

Unfortunately for him, the Heaven-Sundering Mercenary Corps had not only Shen Han’s Celestial Frost Superpower to slow him down, but also Gao Mountain’s Earth Wall to block his escape.

Pinned down by their two Mechas, Geoffrey felt like he couldn’t move an inch. When Fang Tianhe arrived in the Heaven-Sundering Mecha, creating a three-on-one situation, he fell into despair.

Even though he used every trick in the book and desperately tried to break through, after little more than ten seconds, he still couldn’t escape his fate and was likewise killed.

Meanwhile, Roger had successfully taken out the enemy’s vice-captain. After all, the man’s Mecha had also been heavily damaged, and its combat effectiveness was less than half of what it was at its peak.

In just a short minute, the tide of the mecha battle had turned dramatically, ending in a landslide victory for the Heaven-Sundering Mercenary Corps.

And with the mecha battle decided, the outcome of the entire engagement was sealed.

The Wild Wolf Mercenary Corps tried to flee almost immediately, but unfortunately for them, they had long been surrounded by members of the Heaven-Sundering Mercenary Corps. Escape was impossible.

The only ones with a chance of escaping were the members of the Fierce Tiger Mercenary Corps, especially Zeng Hong, who was piloting a Mecha.

After realizing the situation was hopeless, Zeng Hong immediately chose to run. But unfortunately for him, Lin Xinghai, who had been hounded by Bee Bombs, had somehow appeared in his path of escape.

By now, more than half of the Bee Bombs chasing Lin Xinghai had been destroyed, and the remaining ones no longer posed much of a threat.

Under these circumstances, Lin Xinghai was able to free up a gun to attack Zeng Hong.

BANG!

The familiar formula, the familiar gunshot. A Corrosive Bullet once again struck his Mecha’s knee.

At the sight of this, Zeng Hong’s eyes went red with rage. He frantically tried to attack Lin Xinghai, but his opponent was too agile for him to catch.

And even if he managed to close the distance, the other man could just duck into a building to escape danger.

And so, Lin Xinghai just kept his distance at around 200 meters, relentlessly attacking with Corrosive Bullets.

Zeng Hong could only watch helplessly as the external armor’s Defense rating on his system panel steadily dropped: 50%, 30%, 20%, 10%.

Finally, as it hit zero, he saw Lin Xinghai fire two quick shots at him.

These two shots were Armor-Piercing Bullets. Instantly, the Mecha displayed a damaged driveshaft in the right leg. The Mecha’s entire right leg was temporarily disabled.

Although the Mecha could activate its auxiliary movement mode—switching from an upright stride to a four-limbed, ape-like run—its Speed was drastically reduced.

Seeing this, Zeng Hong despaired. He could only watch as Fang Tianhe, piloting his Mecha, caught up to him.

He immediately sent out a surrender signal, but unfortunately, Fang Tianhe paid it no mind. He attacked directly, killing him in just over ten seconds.

As the last enemy Mecha fell, it signified that the enemy had lost all ability to resist.

Next, the Mechas began to sweep the battlefield. The mercenaries from both the Wild Wolf Mercenary Corps and the Fierce Tiger Mercenary Corps were powerless to resist and were killed one by one.

During this process, many of the Mercenaries chose to surrender, but Fang Tianhe spared no one.

Lin Xinghai stood in the distance, silently watching it all unfold, truly experiencing the cruelty of the post-apocalyptic world.

He knew full well that if their roles were reversed, the enemy would have undoubtedly wiped them out to the last man. It was the only way to eliminate any future threats.

Besides, Lin Xinghai had no sympathy for these two Mercenary Corps.

If they were simply fighting over resources in the wilderness to survive and grow, he wouldn’t be so merciless; after all, life wasn’t easy for anyone.

But the problem was that these two Mercenary Corps were lackeys for the Morgan Conglomerate. To put it bluntly, that made them traitors.

Once they made a choice like that, they should have been prepared to die.

After the great battle, it was time to rescue the wounded and clean up the battlefield.

In this battle, the Heaven-Sundering Mercenary Corps had a total of 5 deaths, with another 23 wounded.

With more than half their members becoming casualties, the ferocity of the battle was clear.

Fortunately, the Armored Vehicles were equipped with first-aid equipment. As long as someone wasn’t killed instantly, even with severed limbs, they wouldn’t be in mortal danger after receiving emergency treatment.

As long as their lives were saved, once they returned to the Shelter, even the most grievous injuries could be healed after a few days in a medical pod.

After the wounded were bandaged and their bleeding stopped, Fang Tianhe directed the other mercenaries to gather all of the enemy’s equipment.

This even included the enemy’s Armored Vehicles and Mechas, not to mention their Firearms.

"Commander, why are we still gathering all this stuff? Shouldn’t we just destroy their storage terminals and not leave any evidence?" Lin Xinghai asked, confused.
