INTERSTELLAR ERA: MY MIND IS A LIBRARY

Chapter 62: SPECIAL TRIAL

Chapter 62: SPECIAL TRIAL

"Good day, sir," the receptionist greeted politely, seeing Silas finally approach her.

Silas nodded.

"I would like to purchase the two models," Silas said directly.

The lady pondered for a while, then looked back at Silas with furrowed brows.

"Is it Matter and Life?" She asked.

Silas sighed at her question. What kind of dumb question was that?

"Is there more?" He asked sarcastically with a dry tone.

"Yes sir," the lady, contrary to what Silas thought or knew, confirmed the existence of more.

Silas was surprised.

"Since when did we have more than just Matter and Life?" He asked.

The lady looked at him for a second, then smiled.

"Well, it was formerly classified under the Matter branch, but after a deep scrutiny of it by the Order of Truth three thousand years ago, they finally classified it as its own branch," she explained.

"It is not public knowledge yet, but your privilege is sufficient for you to know about it," she added.

Silas nodded slowly in understanding.

"Just give me all three of them," he said.

The lady nodded, typing the three into a pad placed in front of her.

"Is that all?" She asked.

"No, I want more," Silas said, thinking about what he needed.

He had purchased some books on game creation in the first library he entered, but he wanted to see if the Hidden Archive had better materials for him.

"Can I get some books on game creation?" He asked.

The lady nodded, her fingers moving across the keyboard in a blur that suggested she had done this countless times before.

A screen appeared in Silas’s face, listing a number of books, each one based on different aspects of game creation.

[Knowing the right genre for you]

[Game creation: Research and Theories]

[The art of creating a game]

The list went on, seemingly endless, but Silas had set his gaze on these ones.

"Add these ones," he said.

She added them without hesitation and focused back on Silas.

"Techniques," Silas said. "Preferably katana, daggers, movement, and unarmed," he added.

A new screen popped up, revealing various techniques, from Common to Heaven grade. The list was truly endless.

To Silas, the number of Heaven grade techniques here was the same as the number of Common grade ones.

’I can’t underestimate a legacy built over billions of years,’ Silas mused, then proceeded to pick what he wanted.

After a few minutes, he was done, having only picked 5 techniques he knew he could afford.

[Phantom Step]

[Grounded Lightning Strike]

[Empty Draw]

[Reversing Current Slash]

[Shadow Relocation]

Silas looked at the three Heaven grade techniques with a smile on his face.

But as he remembered the cost of everything he had bought here, the smile waned.

"That’s all," he said.

The receptionist nodded and added the techniques to his cart, alongside the previous things.

"That’s 79,830 Truth Points."

Silas shook his head, already commanding Axiom to pay.

"Your payment has been settled by Lady Celeste," she said.

Just then, Silas received a notification of the books being deposited into Rion’s database.

He shook his head and said nothing more.

"Well, thank you. I would be leaving now."

"Thank you, sir."

Silas walked out of the room calmly.

"That should be all. I don’t need to go to the Virtual Dungeon anymore since I have these techniques already."

As he walked, he spoke to himself about his plans, trying to work out the next course of action.

As he strolled out, his mind could not help but go back to Celeste.

"I should go to the Virtual Arena if I want to get used to my current strength," he muttered.

He had broken through two stages in a row and had not consolidated his power.

If he wanted to avoid a mistake like the earlier one, he had to face opponents.

And there was no better place to do that than the Virtual Arena.

He exited the spire under the wandering gazes of other customers who had barely moved since he left.

Silas could not help but feel grateful thinking of how long he would have spent here.

"Till next time, Axiom," Silas said, clicking on another server.

His body pulsed as he switched servers.

He was back in the familiar space.

Looking at his rank at only Bronze 99, he could not help but frown.

"This would take a long time," he muttered to himself.

He was sure that for the next 300 matches, his opponents were bound to be below Marshal stage.

Just then, Athena spoke.

"It has been detected that your cultivation stage far outclasses your current battle rank. The Virtual Arena has been forced to introduce the special Trial."

Silas frowned as he heard Athena.

"You would be matched with an opponent at the next rank until you lose."

"So, I would be facing a Silver ranker now?" Silas said with a smile. "Bring it on. It only makes it easier for me to fight at the level I want."

[Would you like to start the matchmaking?]

"Yes," Silas said with a nod.

His figure flickered out of the space, appearing in the wide, expansive colosseum of the Virtual Arena.

Soon, a figure appeared in front of him.

[Name: Nash]

[Current rank: Silver (99)]

The guy held a spear. A cocky smile was plastered on his face as he looked at Silas.

Without a word, he shot forward, tearing through the air like a bullet.

He was by no means slow. Even the speed of sound would pale in comparison to him.

But Silas was just too fast. In his eyes, Nash seemed to be crawling.

He sidestepped calmly, letting the thrust miss by just a narrow margin.

Silas’s hand blurred forward, his dagger appearing in it as he pierced through Nash’s head.

Silence.

In less than a minute, Silas had killed his opponent.

Nash’s eyes were wide open as his frame disappeared.

The next opponent appeared in an instant, not even giving him time to rest.

[Name: Noir]

[Current rank: Gold (99)]
