Chapter 58: VIRTUAL SERVERS
Chapter 58: VIRTUAL SERVERS
Silas was heading back to his room. After a hearty meal, he had to plan his moves.
He could not help but think of his discussion with Micheal over the table.
"That game earned over a hundred billion in just one night," he muttered to himself.
This was just one night. What about a week, or a year, or even thousands of years later?
"Rion, how profitable is the gaming industry now?" He asked.
Depending on Rion’s response, Silas might have to divert his research into games.
That would be Sovereign Garden’s new business.
"Normally, starting a gaming company is really competitive due to supply being higher than demand," Rion replied.
"Hmm..." Silas said curiously.
He knew Rion still had more words for him.
"But with Sovereign Garden’s reach, you should be able to have the push you need to establish yourself. As for its earning potential, it is one of the top 5 most profitable businesses in the human empire."
Rion said all those words slowly with a cold voice, letting everything sink into Silas’s head.
Silas looked back at Clara, who followed softly, her presence almost melting into the environment, then faced front again.
"Rion, gather all free knowledge on game creation. I would check them when I am done with this," Silas commanded.
"Also, book a meeting with the manager in the next 3 days, at noon. We need to discuss the company’s growth and those investors."
"Yes, Master Silas," Rion replied, already getting to work.
Silas stopped in front of the elevator doors.
"Don’t allow anyone entry. I would be busy," he said to Clara before entering.
"Yes, Master Silas," Clara replied with a curt bow.
"Nexus Dimension, here I come," Silas said with a smile as he stepped into his room.
He jumped into the bed like a child and exhaled loudly.
"Rion, a list of all Mortal strike techniques available for purchase," he said, his face turning serious.
Rion did not reply for a second, then after a few moments, a screen unfolded in Silas’s face.
The list covered a wide array of techniques, from Common to Heaven grade.
A few caught Silas’s eye.
[Dissolution Cleave — Heaven Tier]
[Refraction — Heaven Tier]
[Miasma Wall — Earth Tier]
[Gravity Well — Heaven Tier]
[Overgrowth Cleave — Common Tier]
Those were the ones that called to Silas the most.
"I can’t believe I mimicked this Refraction technique while fighting against Han," Silas could not help but murmur with a smile as he remembered his fight with Han.
But looking at their cost, Silas frowned.
"The lowest Common Tier technique costs twenty million credits," he muttered.
That was still affordable to Silas. But seeing the massive spike between Common and Earth tier, he rested his back against the bed.
"How did it move from twenty million to five hundred?"
He whispered to himself.
"How do Governor Max and the others have Heaven grade techniques if it is this expensive?" He wondered.
Thankfully, Rion replied.
"As Marshal Rank cultivators, you can gain techniques by completing quests in the Virtual Dungeon."
"So it is simple. Complete some quests in the Virtual Dungeon, gain techniques, and repeat the cycle," Silas replied.
Rion did not say anything in response.
"Well, I should get the models first, then go to the Virtual Dungeon."
Unlike the Virtual Arena, which was a colosseum for various fighters to compete, the Virtual Dungeon was designed to make participants feel like they were in a story.
It was more accurate to say that it was a game, just with higher stakes.
"Rion, send me to the Nexus Dimension," Silas said. "Before going to the Virtual Dungeon, I would take a look at the models at the Order of Truth."
As he spoke, his body began to flicker out of the room like a glitch in reality.
He appeared in the place he had left yesterday, a back alley in the Thornwood store’s area.
"I need to find a place to relax in order to access the Order of Truth’s server."
He began to walk out towards an inn he had seen previously on his way there.
In less than 30 minutes, he reached it.
"Good day, sir," the receptionist bowed as Silas entered.
Silas nodded calmly.
"I would like to book a room," he said.
The woman nodded.
"It costs fifty thousand credits per hour," she said.
Silas sighed.
He had expected as much. As a place located near one of the biggest stores, it was definitely going to be expensive.
As for why the room was booked per hour, it was because the only reason people used inns was to access servers, which required them to be at ease.
"Okay, 6 hours," Silas said.
The woman provided him with a payment ID. Rion scanned it in an instant and transferred three hundred thousand credits to her.
"I have received it, sir," she smiled, tapping a bell on the table.
Soon, a huge, bulky man approached, dressed in a black suit.
He understood his job immediately and acted on it.
"This way, sir," he said, pointing towards the back of the reception.
He led Silas at a measured pace, just enough for Silas to follow comfortably behind him.
They reached the room, a small room with a wooden door.
The man inputted some codes into the pad and it clicked open.
"Here you are, sir," he said, gesturing for Silas to enter.
Silas peeped in, nodding in satisfaction.
Although the place was not as luxurious as his own room, it was good enough, considering he was not going to enjoy it himself.
The place only existed to protect his vessel when he went into a server.
He stepped in calmly and the door closed behind him.
Silas walked towards the bed, his hand pressing against the mattress before he sat on it.
He adjusted until he reached the headboard, then lay on his back.
With a thought, he opened a tab.
[Virtual Dungeon]
[Virtual Arena]
[Order of Truth]
The list of servers stretched further but Silas clicked on the one he wanted, the Order of Truth.
His body froze for a brief moment before the light in his eyes died out.
