Michael was relaxing in the villa when suddenly, Onyx informed him that someone was here to see him. This made Michael raise his brows slightly.
Despite his curiosity about who was here to see him, he did not bother to ask Onyx about that. Instead, he just headed towards the door, before opening it.
As the door opened, Michael’s eyes shone with surprise as he looked at Kate, who was looking back at him with a big smile on her face.
Kate stood tall with her 173-centimeter frame, her long blonde hair falling smoothly over her shoulders in loose waves. Her warm brown eyes carried a striking softness that contrasted beautifully with her refined features.
She wore a fitted cream sweater beneath a light tan coat, paired with dark jeans that outlined her slender figure. Brown ankle boots completed the autumn outfit, outlining her beauty.
Truthfully speaking, Michael was in the dark about Kate’s return. Even though he had already known that she would be given a break to come back, he had not anticipated that she would come this fast.
Additionally, how come he was in the dark about this? After all, with Onyx, he should have been able to know that she was in the city. In fact, before she even left the training camp, he should have been informed.
As much as he was puzzled about this, he understood that this was not the time for him to ask about this. Instead, he revealed a smile as he asked, "Wow, I didn’t anticipate that you would be here so soon. Could it be that some changes have occurred at the training camp?"
Kate on the other hand was quite excited. That was especially when she saw the surprised expression on Michael’s face.
"Did you miss me?" Kate asked as she opened her arms wide, as if she was expecting something.
While responding, Michael moved forward and gave her a hug. "I did, even though it was just a month. You know, once you get used to someone, their absence for a day could as well be an entire year."
After hugging for a few seconds, the two parted, before Michael welcomed Kate into the house.
"So, how come you got here without informing me? You know, if you had told me that you were leaving the training camp today, I would have come to pick you up." Michael said as soon as Kate sat on the couch in the living room.
And as he asked that question, he headed towards the kitchen, to bring Kate a drink. It was already afternoon, so, Michael returned moments later with a steaming mug of warm apple cider, the faint scent of cinnamon and fresh apples trailing behind him.
As Kate received the mug, she took a sleep of the apple cider, before she responded with a cheeky smile, "This was a surprise. And judging by the expression on your face when you saw me, you were definitely surprised by my presence."
"I admit that. I am indeed surprised in a positive way." Michael easily admitted.
But at the same time, internally, he felt that there was something wrong. Quickly, he asked Onyx about this, but for some reason, Onyx played deaf.
With such a reaction from Onyx, Michael immediately understood that Onyx might have been part of the plan. But how was that even possible? After all, Kate did not know about Onyx’s existence.
Could it be that someone else was also involved in this scheme? And as he thought about this, Kate continued speaking.
Just after Michael had sat down next to her, Kate leaned her head on his shoulder, a small smile etched on her lips as she said, "Actually, at first, I was also pranked.
Adrian came to pick me up, claiming that you were the one who had sent him. So, I thought that you were already expecting my arrival.
But the moment that we got into the city, instead of directly bringing me here, Adrian took me to the company. There, he informed me that you actually did not know about my return. He thought that it might be a good idea for me to surprise you.

Michael was left stunned at those words. Unexpectedly, this was actually Adrian’s plan?

But as he thought about this, he realized that it seemed that he did not understand Adrian that well. While it might be true that Adrian was a bio human, he had his own personality.
