Chapter 349 349: Michael's Decision

Upon hearing Matthew's question, Michael was silent for a while, as he took a few deep breaths to stabilize himself.

At this moment, he was not sure how to react. The information that he had received from Onyx clearly pointed towards the fact that the Santos family might not be the ones behind the death of his parents.

While it was someone who was within the Santos family, the action taken was not due to the orders of someone from the Santos family.

And all this time, Michael had been blaming the Santos family, for the death of his parents. That was especially for Newton, who was Bob's direct superior.

But now, having realized the truth, Michael was not sure about how he was supposed to react to this.

Initially, after confirming that it was Bob was involved with the death of his parents, Michael did not bother to investigate Bob anymore. After all, it was enough to know that Bob was Newton's right-hand man.

Considering that Bob was not a direct member of the Santos family, for him to take action against someone from the Santos family, it had to be under the approval of someone above him.

But now, with the truth revealed, Michael understood that he had made a mistake. But of course, that did not imply that the Santos family would be completely free of some blame.

It was because of their recklessness that Bob, who was working for the Santos family, was a spy. If they were careful, they might have noticed the moves that Bob was making, and perhaps prevent the death of his parents.

Of course, Michael was not unreasonable as to blame the Santos family entirely on the death of his parents. Instead, having realized who the true enemy was, Michael's killing intent shifted.

While he might not be directly involved in the killing, he was the one who had instructed for the death of his parents. Regardless of the fact that he was also instructed by someone else, he was involved in the scheme nonetheless.

So, Michael decided, he would start with those at the top. But of course, Bob would be the exception, as Michael would go for him, even before he went for Amos.

On the other hand, after Newton and Matthew heard Michael's words, they were left shocked and infuriated at the same time. They had never anticipated something like this.

The two of them did not doubt Michael in the slightest. They felt, there was no need for Michael to lie to them about this.

Additionally, clearly, looking at Michael, it was visible that he no longer displayed the same indifference as before. Initially, every time that he gazed at Newton, Newton nearly felt suffocated.

But now, there was no longer any killing intent coming from Michael, implying that what Michael had said was true.

Additionally, even if Michael was lying, so what? At the end of the day, the two of them could carry out their own investigation.

"Okay, you can leave now. I have no any intention of associating myself with the Santos family. Ever since my parents left, it means that I, who was never born in the Santos family, and never received any benefits from the Santos family, I have no obligation to come back with you." Michael broke the silence, bringing the two shocked people back to their senses.

But as they heard Michael's words, the momentarily felt despair. At the same time, Newton felt immensely regretful.

Looking at the condition that the old man was in, it was clear that even though he was saddened by the death of Zachary, it was not to an exaggerated extent.

If he had known that the old man would not overreact to the death of Zachary, he might have informed him earlier on. That way, they would have brought Michael back to the Santos family, to avoid something like this from happening.

And that was to be expected, considering that Michael had not received any benefit from the Santos family. Already 18 years old, he was considered an adult.

Simply put, the Santos family only appear in his life when he was an adult. And at the time that he needed them, they ignored him. Now, they want him back, just because they realized that he was not simple.

Clearly, Michael would not go with them. But since that was the case, Newton was willing to make sure that there would no longer be any misunderstandings between them.

It was impossible to bring Michael back to the Santos family, but he had to make sure that Michael did not blame the Santos family for anything.

It would be even better if they could become friends, so that in the future, in case the Santos family was in trouble, maybe Michael would lend a hand.

Having already known about Michael's existence, he thought that he might be able to bring Michael back with him this time. Unexpectedly, Michael had no any intention on going back to the Santos family.

The old man, just like Newton, did not try to persuade Michael. With his years of experience, since Newton could notice, the old man of course noticed it too.

Even though he was extremely emotional, he ended up letting out a helpless sigh as he said, "Okay, I understand. But, I would like us to clear any kind of misunderstanding between us.

While you are not willing to acknowledge the Santos family, we will still consider you part of the family. We will not bring you any trouble, but in case there are any benefits, we will definitely give them to you, as you deserve them.

I don't want my own grandson to hate me and the other family members because of any kind of misunderstanding. So, please, if there is any grudge that you hold, please, could you tell me what you would like us to do, so that we can clear that debt?"

Newton was not that much surprised when his father said those words. The person that he respected the most in this world was his own father, who had managed to build the silent order syndicate from scratch.

This kind of decision, the one that avoided creating enemies, or turning enemies into allies, it was one that Matthew had taught him several times already.

"Since the misunderstanding has already been cleared, there is no need to linger on this matter anymore. The Santos family can continue with its life, just like before, and I will continue with mine as well.

Let life be just like how it was before We knew about each other's existence. Or, even if you knew about my existence, you could just ignore my presence just like before." Michael shook his head as he responded.

The two simply sighed, as they thought, they would have to find other methods to make sure that they boosted their relationship with Michael.

"Then, if I may be presumptuous and ask, about Gregory, who came with Bob, his disappearance, is it also related to the Blood Reapers syndicate?" Matthew hesitated for a while before he asked.
