Infinite Classes in the Apocalypse

Chapter 85: Siege of the Citadel 3

Chapter 85: Siege of the Citadel 3

"We can’t keep this up much longer!" One of the twins screamed and gritted his teeth.

Damon couldn’t blame them. The enemies were at least twenty levels above them. The fact that they were able to hold on this long was all thanks to Nyla, who created multiple mana relics for them to use.

The girl was truly a gem to have around, which would only become more apparent in a second as they arrived at the massive gate of the castle.

The sheer number of humans made it impossible to cover beneath the walls, so the barrage of arrows continued, although significantly slower than it came.

"Here you go, boss!" Nyla exclaimed as she passed over the massive golden hammer to Damon.

Immediately, he felt the bonus take effect.

[+100% Strength]

Damon was surprised when, after comprehending and copying the girl’s class, he didn’t get the hammer ability. But after using it once, it made complete sense to him. It was an ability unique to her.

He took a quick step backwards and, with a terrifying force, swung the hammer forward.

Even the walls seemed to rattle from the impact, but to his surprise, the gate remained standing.

Without wasting a second, he took another swing, just as one of the twins collapsed to the ground.

"Damon, we’re running out of time!" Ivy yelled from the back, urging her own group members who had shield-like abilities to cast them.

BANG! BANG!

Damon frowned as the gate refused to falter under the weight of the hammer.

Then an idea struck him. He activated his black ice manipulation, freezing the entire gate, and with a final step back, he swung the hammer with all he had.

CRACK!

The frozen metal bars shattered into pieces as the hammer struck them.

Immediately, Damon passed the hammer back to Nyla and dashed forward.

The tunnel leading away from the gate was a perfect refuge from the arrows.

Of course, it wasn’t without challenge. Three Dark Elves stood readily ahead of them, but Damon wasted no time meeting them head-on.

He blocked the blade of the first enemy before stepping between the shadows and striking another in the back.

The blade of the third Dark Elf was already mid-air, but before it could reach him, Damon had already sent a mental command.

"Come."

In an instant, the Dark Knight materialised.

The force of its longsword shattered the blade of the attacking Dark Elf, and before it could retaliate, it severed its entire arm.

"Isn’t that-?!" A realisation flashed across Elias’ face at the enemy they had seen before.

Damon’s entire group froze midstep as they watched their leader fight alongside the enemy he had slain inside the rift.

With the help of the Dark Knight, Damon’s battle against the three Dark Elves took less time than even he would’ve anticipated, and before anyone else could even join for a strike, the enemies were already dead.

Notifications flooded Damon’s head, but he ignored them for now. He instead turned to his group, realising their surprise to see the Dark Knight.

"Don’t worry, he’s under my command," he said.

They blinked in almost unison, but there was no time for their surprise as the other humans found their way into the small tunnel.

"Can you keep the shields up for a little longer?" Damon asked the twins, who were visibly exhausted.

"Few minutes at most," one of them replied through ragged breaths.

Damon nodded.

That will have to do. Although they were basically already inside, a good number of the Dark Elves remained on the walls, ready to shoot them the second they step out of the cover.

"We move according to plan, those with range capabilities take out the archers, the rest..." his gaze moved across the crowd. "Kill as many as you can."

With that, he turned toward the other end of the tunnel and charged out of it.

Immediately, he was caught off guard by the enormous number of enemies.

There were at least two dozen Dark Elves waiting for them on the other side, and as they stepped out, the chaos of the battle unfolded.

The air quickly became filled with battle screams and painful cries as humans clashed against the elves.

Damon moved as quickly as he could, trying to take out as many enemies as possible to minimise the deaths on their side, but as he took a quick glance at the back of the human army, he could already see the mingled flesh and a pool of crimson blood spreading across the ground.

Ivy’s flames soared through the air, engulfing enemies with a terrifying speed. Her expression was different now, there was no doubt or hesitation, just pure focus as the girl moved swiftly across the battlefield.

Countless sounds of gunshots and arrows cut through the air, aiming for the enemies among the walls, but even after striking down some of them, the barrage of enemy arrows never faltered, and the shields were slowly beginning to wear down.

The thing that made the most difference across the battlefield was the Black Knight. He moved like a nightmare given form across the open field. It had already torn through three enemies and was now on its way toward a fourth one before a loud crack cut through the air, and the shield above them faltered.

Immediately, the next barrage of arrows fell upon the humans.

The sound of dying allies filled the air as many were caught completely off guard.

"Move the injured into the tunnel!" Damon shouted a command as he clashed with another opponent.

Between him and the Dark Knight, they had already slain seven Dark Elves. But with the number of dying humans increasing with every moment, it was hard to tell which way the battle was going.

And as if to make it even worse, the massive double doors from the main hall of the castle, several meters to his right, opened up, and a figure with a terrifying presence stepped forward.
