Chapter 224: Unprecedented Take Over (9)

Chapter 224: Unprecedented Take Over (9)

Everyone’s expression sank to an absolute degree until only Rise was the one standing. He swept his eyes around and met Zarilan’s eyes filled with despair and regret.

The whole world was shrouded by darkness and resentment, just as the world felt at its final moments. The weakness overwhelmed them.

If one looked at where the people gathered, one could see them collapsed on the ground, and only those strong enough to resist were still awake. However, none of them had the strength to move, much less speak.

If this happened before Kamille had taken over the most notable monster dens and gates, then every one of the population here would be wiped out as the monsters began to celebrate the world’s origin being taken over by a noble.

After all, the weakness of the natives had become the strength of the monsters. They thrived in the despair, the chaotic atmosphere, and the darkness, which made it better.

This had not happened because Kamille sealed off everything when he took over them.

Rise did not want an empty pocket. The most valuable thing in this world was still the people.

They all looked at him the way one stares at someone so heinous that his evil aura seeped through his whole being.

In a way, they were not wrong. Rise’s soul was probably too dark by this point. Maybe? How many times have they reset? Rise did not even know if his soul was still complete.

It made him think, how many parts of him were actually left at this point? How many of him were left behind? Rise might never know the answer.

"Do you resent me?" Rise asked casually, not hoping for an answer when it was already written all over their faces.

The final stage had begun, and Rise had the time to talk with them while waiting for Kamille to return.

His emotions were not stirred at the slightest. There would only be a few people in this world who could make waves in his emotions. Maybe, it was for the best?

Rise took a chair, turned, and straddled it as he faced everyone.

"What’s there to resent?" Rise shrugged, his voice echoing from how heavy the silence was. It was as though the world had truly come to an end. "This world’s already finished. You know it too. Everyone here is planning their escape."

He pointed at the Three Nations forces. "You can even collaborate with the nobles you hated. So, what’s so different here?"

The Three Nations leaders and those privy to their plan widened their gazes, startled. Some wanted to refute, but they could not do so.

The clan forces were also surprised by this. Yet, they had not wasted their strength on looking at the Three Nations’ forces. Somehow, they already assumed that long ago, it was only a confirmation.

Rise stared at the Three Nations forces.

"You even collaborate with a minion of someone I loathe the most. And you’ve been tainted because of it. I don’t need you."

He fully showed his disgust in his expression. The author was his biggest enemy, and he never liked to use their trash.

With the words, it somehow clicked to them that at this moment, Rise had their lives in his mercy. If he decided to kill them, then he would be able to, as everyone was powerless to fight back.

Rise let out a chuckle at the predictability. The eyes that looked at him as if he were the demon lord himself were now pleading with him, their gazes filled with the same despair that once tainted his eyes.

It was annoying.

Rise did not enjoy it, simply because it came from the most disgusting individuals he knew. The author’s minions. Whether then or now, they have never changed.

He had not bothered in this world’s last reset, but he still knew that they would become Epsilon’s minions, which meant they belonged to the author camp.

This was why Rise chose the clan side. Despite Zenos being the second male lead, the clan had not entered the fray. They were still secluded, becoming harder to approach than their current state, which still welcomed outsiders.

Rise propped his chin on the back of the chair, looking at them. He did not look intimidating but more like silly, yet somehow they all felt that oppression from him.

"Give me one reason to spare you." This was a joke.

Rise was purposely provoking him when he had no reason to spare them at all. Sure enough, everyone looked at him in despair and resentment, and forced themselves to speak, but could not do so.

"I’m waiting. I’ll give you... three seconds. Oops, it’s done. You’re all mute, or what?" Rise’s lips curled as his eyes glinted with mischief.

He turned to the clan side.

"You’re all feeling betrayed. I get it." His tone was softer. Since they were only looking helpless, none of them looked at Rise with resentment and rage. At least, they held it in.

So that was extremely commendable.

He was not there to play with his subordinates’ hearts. Rise might be cruel to his enemies, but he chose not to be to his own.

"Don’t worry. We’re only entering a new era. Something you’ve all been hoping for." Rise did not make a grand speech or a promise; he did not need to.

Just like how he wanted results from his subordinates and not their loyalty, Rise also wanted to show the results of his plans and not give them empty promises.

There was no need to say more; they would understand it soon. If they still felt betrayed and resented him, that was on them. Rise was doing all of this for his grand plan, and did not need validation.

Rise glanced at them before he shifted his attention again to the Three Nations side. Of course, not every one of them needed to be killed.

The others were genuinely clueless about what the higher-ups were doing. It was also extremely simple to filter them out. But if he missed one, they could only blame their bad luck.
