In the Years When I Was a Father

Chapter 13: The Playboy Dad (13)

Chapter 13: The Playboy Dad (13)

After dinner, at Qi Wenfeng’s strong insistence and Qi Wenyan’s hopeful gaze, Qi Wenyu dutifully took them to the entertainment center. The place was fully equipped with various facilities, including game halls, archery ranges, laser shooting ranges, and other thrilling activities, all of which quickly became Qi Wenfeng’s top choices. Qi Wenyan was also curious about the games, so he stayed with them as well. Qi Wenyu, though not particularly interested, still accompanied the two of them.

At first, things were fine, with the three of them playing their own games. But soon, a few more people arrived, and the previously harmonious atmosphere was disrupted.

Since deciding to bring Qi Wenfeng back to the Qi family, the Bai family had not been very calm. They were well aware of how much Qi Sheng favored Qi Wenfeng. Even when Qi Wenyu was around, Qi Sheng had clashed with the old man for this boy. Now that Qi Wenyan and the others were in the picture, the Bai family couldn’t help but worry.

Especially since the Bai family also had a son, Bai Chengfei, who was about the same age as Qi Wenfeng. Due to their differing social standings, the two had been bitter enemies at school. When they heard that Qi Wenfeng was being brought back to the Qi family, they were furious. Besides cursing Qi Sheng behind his back, they were determined to teach Qi Wenfeng a good lesson.

Upon hearing that the Qi family was coming to the resort, Bai Chengfei immediately contacted a few friends from his circle and brought them along.

Qi Wenfeng and Bai Chengfei had been at odds for many years, with each one always balancing the other out. Unfortunately, today, one had come well-prepared with helpers, while the other only had two indifferent older brothers, one of whom had even walked away. So when Qi Wenfeng saw a group of people walking towards him, he couldn’t help but curse under his breath.

He wasn’t one to back down. Even if it was just one person, he’d still confront Bai Chengfei on sight.

“Wow, isn’t this the illegitimate child who can’t even get on stage?” One of the group sneered and deliberately got close to Qi Wenfeng’s ear, maliciously calling him, “A bug in the stinky gutter!”

“Bai Chengfei, how come it’s you again? A filthy turtle that I can’t get rid of!” Qi Wenfeng remembered a time when he had trapped Bai Chengfei in a restroom, drawing a turtle on his face and taking a photo. Since then, the two had been sworn enemies, unwilling to rest until one of them had the last word.

Bai Chengfei glared and sneered, “I’m not in the mood to argue with a bug today. What do you say? Dare to compete? Whoever loses has to say ‘I’m a bug!’ ten times.” “What did you say?” Qi Wenfeng asked deliberately, but unfortunately, Bai Chengfei didn’t fall for it and shot him a dismissive look.

“I’m in a good mood today, I’ll let you have one round. Let’s play the game you just played. Dare to do it? Best of three!” Bai Chengfei challenged.

Qi Wenfeng raised an eyebrow, “You want to play with me?”

“Of course not. Do you think you’re worthy of competing with me?” Bai Chengfei retorted, then pointed behind him at four others, “I’ll let you choose one of them.”

Bai Chengfei had purposely brought a few skilled people with him today, wanting to humiliate Qi Wenfeng.

Qi Wenfeng scoffed, “So you’re too scared to compete with me? A filthy turtle, always looking for others to help!”

Unfortunately for him, after years of fighting, Bai Chengfei had become immune to such verbal jabs. Today, he was just here to see Qi Wenfeng lose, and he even planned to record a video of him insulting himself. With a smug look, he said, “If you want to find someone, go ahead. I’m feeling generous today, I’ll give you ten minutes.”

He raised his eyebrows and grinned maliciously, “If you’re too scared to compete, just say it. We’re all familiar with each other, just say it ten times and I won’t bother you anymore.”

“What if I don’t compete?” Qi Wenfeng wasn’t stupid. While he was slightly better at the game than Bai Chengfei, he wasn’t sure he could win. Agreeing to something uncertain would only backfire on him.

Bai Chengfei didn’t respond but gestured for the four people behind him to surround Qi Wenfeng. Qi Wenyan, noticing the situation was about to escalate, quickly stepped in, “Chengfei, stop messing around. If you want to play a game, go find somewhere else.”

But Bai Chengfei didn’t listen to Qi Wenyan, “Cousin, stay out of this. This is between me and him, it has nothing to do with you.”

Honestly, Bai Chengfei had come when he knew Qi Wenyu wasn’t around. He still respected Qi Wenyu, who was a true cousin in his eyes. If Qi Wenyu had been here, he wouldn’t have dared act so boldly.

Qi Wenfeng glared at Bai Chengfei, then turned to look at the four people surrounding him. He sneered, “This is still Qi family property, do you dare lay a hand on me here?”

With that, he pushed one of the people in front of him aside and charged straight at Bai Chengfei. He had figured out that this guy had come specifically to provoke him, so he might as well strike first. If things got messy, it would only work in his favor.

Bai Chengfei was caught off guard. Not only did Qi Wenfeng land a solid kick on him, but he also punched him in the face. Bai Chengfei quickly recovered, and in the blink of an eye, the two were in a heated scuffle.

The four people Bai Chengfei brought were used to following him around, so Qi Wenfeng’s words didn’t have much effect. Seeing Bai Chengfei on the ground, they rushed forward and pulled Qi Wenfeng away. However, they didn’t lay a finger on him. Just as Bai Chengfei was about to get up and try to fight again, Qi Wenyu returned.

“Stop!”

Bai Chengfei, panting heavily, looked at Qi Wenfeng, who had a swollen face, and grinned mockingly, but he didn’t continue the fight. The four people behind him also loosened their grip.

“Xiaofei, take your people and leave,” Qi Wenyu said with a frown, unable to stop himself from being irritated. These two just couldn’t stop fighting whenever they met.

Bai Chengfei made a face, feeling that today was enough. With a snort, he swaggered off.

Qi Wenfeng glared at the group leaving, picked up his phone, and immediately dialed Qi Sheng’s number. If he’d been wronged, he was definitely going to complain!

So, when Qi Sheng returned to the courtyard where he was staying, he found the three children sitting on three separate sofas.
