In the Years When I Was a Father

Chapter 12: The Playboy Dad (12)

Chapter 12: The Playboy Dad (12)

In the blink of an eye, the college entrance exam and high school entrance exam were over. After a few days of accompanying the exams, Qi Sheng, the doting father, could finally relax, and the plans for a trip were also back on the agenda.

Thinking about picking up Qi Wenfeng soon, Qi Sheng decided that this time, he would take all three kids with him. It would also be a good opportunity for them to get to know each other better.

He also thought about how his poor old father had been working hard for so many years and was still worrying about everything. Qi Sheng decided to take the whole family to a resort for a few days of relaxation.

When the decision was made to bring Qi Wenfeng back, the old man had already talked to Qi Sheng and his wife in the study. If there were no surprises, the heir to the Qi family would be Wenyan. Bringing Wenfeng back would allow them to keep an eye on him and prevent his mother from influencing his temperament. Bai Ruoqing didn’t say much in the end, and it was considered that she agreed with the old man’s decision.

Qi Wenyan had almost finished his exams too, so the Qi family happily headed to the Greenery Resort. This resort was also one of the Qi family’s properties, but it was not open to the public. It was generally reserved for family members, close friends, and business partners.

With the June weather not too hot, the three cars set off: Qi Wenyu drove his sports car, leading the way with Qi Wenyan in the front, while the extended Bentley in the back carried the old man, Uncle Zhang, and Bai Ruoqing. Qi Sheng had first picked up Qi Wenfeng, following behind the Bentley at a steady pace.

After six months of getting along, the relationship between Qi Wenyan and Qi Wenyu was fairly harmonious. However, one of them wasn’t good with words and the other was naturally quiet, so although they didn’t talk much, the atmosphere was still comfortable.

On the other hand, in Qi Sheng’s car, after Qi Wenfeng got in, he chattered non-stop. “Dad, will Grandpa like me? Will the two brothers bully me? Will Madam give me a cold shoulder?” A string of questions were thrown at Qi Sheng, making him laugh out loud. “Aren’t you fearless? Why are you getting nervous before you even meet them?”

Qi Wenfeng pouted, and Qi Sheng stopped teasing him, responding patiently, “Your grandpa likes obedient, sensible, and diligent children. He knows how hard you’ve been working these past six months. Don’t worry, both your brothers have good temperaments, so you don’t need to be afraid. As for Madam… She doesn’t give me a good face either. Her personality is a bit cold. As long as you don’t deliberately provoke her or bully Wenyan, she won’t make things difficult for you. After we get out of the car, make sure to get along with your brothers, especially Wenyu. Don’t think I don’t know that you’ve been badmouthing Wenyu behind his back over the years!”

Qi Wenfeng wrinkled his nose, quite discontent. “Dad, I think you should understand me. Would you like a ‘perfect child’ who’s always better than you? It’s because of him that my childhood has so many shadows!” Well, the “perfect child” was indeed a destructive force. Having once been a “bad student,” Qi Sheng found his son’s complaint quite reasonable. However, he thought it but didn’t say it, instead giving him a lecture: “What perfect child? That’s your brother! His excellence is a good example for you. Don’t make trouble for him, or I’ll deal with you!”

“Got it, biased!” Qi Wenfeng muttered under his breath, and Qi Sheng didn’t say anything more. After all, he was watching, and the little rascal would have to think twice before causing trouble.

This was Qi Wenfeng’s first time visiting the resort, and he was very curious about what the place had to offer. The entire journey, Qi Sheng kept telling him about all the fun activities, successfully diverting his attention to the resort’s entertainment options.

After more than two hours of driving, they finally arrived at the resort. The old man and the others went to rest first. Qi Sheng casually tossed the car keys to a servant and led them to their rooms. The old man stayed in a single-story garden villa at the back, while they each had their own small garden villa. The villas weren’t small, each with an area of over 200 square meters, and there were private courtyards filled with rural greenery.

This residential area was specially planned for the family, with the interior decor tailored to everyone’s preferences. Although it was their first time here, Qi Wenyan and Qi Wenyu had their rooms set up according to Qi Sheng’s instructions. Qi Wenyan was very happy, looking around his room left and right. After six months of hard study, he finally felt a bit of the luxury of being a third-generation rich kid. He couldn’t help but sprawl out on the bed and relax.

Qi Wenfeng had been to many resorts, but this was his first time visiting with the Qi family. He was nervous, but staying in his own private room helped him feel much more at ease.

Qi Wenyu, who had been here often, reflected on how different things were now. Back then, he was the legitimate eldest grandson of the Qi family, with both his parents’ separate courtyards. Now, everything had changed, and his relationship with the others had shifted greatly. He couldn’t help but feel a bit sentimental.

The three kids had different thoughts, but Qi Sheng was much more relaxed. After changing clothes and resting for a while, he went out to find Qi Wenfeng. After all, it was the first time the old man was meeting this child, so it was better to take him to greet him first.

Fortunately, Qi Wenfeng had adjusted his mood. He was good at being coquettish, and although he didn’t act as casually as he did in front of his father, he still earned the old man’s praise. He secretly gave a thumbs-up and happily followed Qi Sheng out.

“He’s quite clever,” the old man was somewhat satisfied with Qi Wenfeng. Though there were some small thoughts, as long as he didn’t make mistakes, everything was fine.

During dinner that evening, Qi Sheng specially introduced Qi Wenfeng to everyone, but didn’t say much after that. He only reminded Qi Wenyu: “You’re more familiar with this place, so make sure to show your two younger brothers around.”

The three kids were all grown up, and Qi Sheng decided to let them move around freely. The resort had plenty of entertainment options, so there was no danger of them causing too much trouble.

As it happened, one of his drinking buddies was hosting guests at the resort, so Qi Sheng took the opportunity to meet him for a drink. After dinner, he hopped onto the resort’s electric cart and headed over.

Enjoying the breeze and the beautiful scenery, he couldn’t help but feel that more tasks like this would feel like a vacation. Unfortunately, just as he was about to enjoy a couple of drinks, he received a phone call from Qi Wenfeng complaining about something.

Qi Sheng couldn’t help but feel a headache. Those little troublemakers just couldn’t let him have some peace and quiet!
