Chapter 124: Afraid He Has Feelings for Me
Chapter 124: Afraid He Has Feelings for Me
"Is this the result of your calmness?"
Su Lingzhi nodded, only by doing this could she feel a bit more comfortable.
"What if I don’t allow it?"
The words were particularly forceful and overbearing, in the dimness, one could vaguely feel the cold aura emanating from him.
"You don’t want to touch anything from the Fu Family, not even willing to accept my kindness to you. Then what’s the meaning of our relationship? We’re doing pretty well now, I don’t want anyone to change our current emotional state. You don’t need to prove to anyone you’re worthy of me. My girlfriend, my future wife is my choice; no one dares to look down on you."
For a moment, Su Lingzhi found herself in a dilemma.
"Zhizhi, come back with me."
"I’m not going." Su Lingzhi said stubbornly.
Fu Yinli took a deep breath; of course, he could forcefully bring her back, but he didn’t do that.
He had already stood up from the sofa and began turning on the lights in the apartment one by one, then made a call to Housekeeper Zhao to bring clothes over, and also ordered food.
This situation was definitely going to lead to staying here for the night.
Actually, the apartment had long been tidied up, with various toiletries prepared anew, quite complete, even the potted plants were newly placed.
Only the change of clothes was missing.
Su Lingzhi gazed at the busy figure, her eyebrows knitted tightly into a frown.
Such an arrogant and noble person, lowering himself to stay in this small apartment with her, how could he...
She walked towards him and hugged him from behind, her arms tightening inch by inch, apologetically she said, "I’m sorry, I put you in a difficult situation."
The light from the living room shone on that cold and handsome face, those dark eyes were deep as if no light could penetrate them.
"Zhizhi, it’s not you who needs me, but me who needs you."
...
The next day, Su Lingzhi returned to work at the company.
Hearing the sounds, Pei Xu came out of the office and paused at her office door, trapped in hesitation.
Secretary Yao carried a cup of tea, watching him from a distance, then walked towards him, "President Pei, do you need me to help you with anything?"
"Yesterday, she wasn’t in a good mood; I came to check on her."
"There are so many employees at this company, but I’ve never seen you take such an interest in any of them." The jealousy was spilled everywhere, and the voice carried some resentment.
Pei Xu didn’t respond.
Secretary Yao knew when to stop, after all, she’s the only one in the company daring enough to joke with him like this.
"Alright then, I’ll go and see what’s up with our Lindxu’s little princess."
Saying that, she proceeded to knock on the door.
Su Lingzhi moved her gaze away from the numerous design drafts and looked at the visitor, "Secretary Yao."
Secretary Yao placed the cup on her desk, glanced over her desk, and asked, "Looking at design drafts?"
"Yeah, just had them submitted, I want to see the design styles of each person."
"Any thoughts on the show now?"
"I currently have a preliminary idea, series elements should be ready in two days." Su Lingzhi looked at her puzzled, "Did you come to see me for something?"
Secretary Yao paused for a moment, "I just wanted to ask you out for lunch together, is that okay?"
"Okay."
After Secretary Yao went out, she saw Pei Xu was still sitting at the tea table outside waiting.
She said helplessly, "I found that the little princess seemed quite good; fully focused on work. It’s not too appropriate to talk about anything else, so I’ve arranged lunch and will ask her then."
"Okay."
Pei Xu stood up, placed a kiss on her forehead, then took strides back into his office.
Secretary Yao instinctively looked around, reassured that no one saw this, before relaxing.
If it wasn’t for knowing his relationship with the little princess, the sourness might never dissipate...
By noon, Secretary Yao came on time to call for her.
Indeed, her state today was somewhat different from last week; deeper, with determined light in her eyes.
She led the person to the usual restaurant downstairs, picked up the menu, and asked her, "Lingzhi, do you eat spicy food?"
Su Lingzhi nodded.
"Then we’ll order a medium spicy blood duck, some greens, and a soup."
"Okay, I’m not picky with food."
After ordering, Secretary Yao looked at her porcelain-clear face, asking, "You don’t seem right, are you in a bad mood?"
"It was President Pei who asked you to inquire, right?"
Secretary Yao stiffened for a moment, not expecting to be discovered by her.
Last night before sleep, Lili helped with her eye patches, and by the time she woke up this morning, the swelling had subsided, her state didn’t seem off.
Su Lingzhi spoke, "Yesterday I was upset, which President Pei noticed, but it’s fine now, no need to worry."
"Can you tell me what it was about? Don’t worry, I promise not to tell him."
"The sad things are over, plus I’ve already moved on, don’t want to bring it up again."
Secretary Yao didn’t press her, instead, she reached out and patted her head, "Whether you want to talk or not, as your colleague, I care about you."
Su Lingzhi countered, "How long have you been beside President Pei?"
"Less than a year since joining Lindxu."
"So do you know his relationship status?"
Secretary Yao’s expression froze, tactically taking a sip of water, "That’s not something I can talk about."
"You know, I have a boyfriend; President Pei’s care for me is excessive sometimes, crossing boundaries, I’m worried he might be interested in me."
Upon hearing this, Secretary Yao was suddenly choked and flushed by her sip of water.
Su Lingzhi left her seat, worriedly patting her back to soothe, "Are you okay?"
Secretary Yao took a deep breath, shaking her head, "I’m fine."
Seeing her recover, Su Lingzhi was reassured and returned to her seat.
Secretary Yao assured her, "Rest 100 assured, he absolutely isn’t interested in you."
Seeing her speak with such certainty, Su Lingzhi doubted if she was overthinking.
A subtle, ambiguous smile appeared on Secretary Yao’s lips, and she asked, "What did he do to give you this impression?"
Su Lingzhi pondered for a while before shaking her head, "Nothing, probably me overthinking."
"Don’t think too much, President Pei is very upright, knowing you have a boyfriend, he’d certainly never act like a homewrecker."
"Yeah."
Soon after, the food arrived.
Su Lingzhi tasted the blood duck, this dish she tried for the first time, couldn’t help but feel the novelty, "So tasty, very rich flavor, not the least bit of duck’s gamey taste."
"Is this your first time trying blood duck?"
Su Lingzhi nodded, "Yeah, is it a specialty somewhere?"
"It’s a southern specialty, this place is quite authentic, if you like it, we can come often."
"Secretary Yao is from the south?"
"Yes."
"Then it must be far from home."
"Very far, I studied university in Beijing and stayed here after graduating."
