Impossible to Resist: Mr. CEO Falling In Love

Chapter 123: Calm Down

Chapter 123: Calm Down

The old man couldn’t help but doubt his words, he hummed lightly, "Could it be that after being her mentor for a few days, you’re just saying these sweet words to coax me?"

"Everything I said is true, it’s you who haven’t understood the situation and singled out Miss Su."

The old man remained stubborn, "No matter what, Yinli offended the Shao family several times for her, and did things so absolutely, that’s wrong. If she truly cared for Yinli, she should have held him back a little."

Housekeeper Zhao continued to persuade, "I believe the master is not someone who acts impulsively. Since you’ve already given him the power, you should trust his capability. Why not let go, and enjoy your twilight years?"

One sentence had the old man fall into silence.

Recently, because of his second son, he was heartbroken and worried, fearing that Yinli might deviate because of it. And since then, there was a rift between them, grandson and grandfather.

Thinking of the rift, the old man’s brows furrowed slightly as he stood up with his cane and walked out without a word.

Housekeeper Zhao watched his back in confusion and asked, "Aren’t you going to see the master?"

"Next time."

Watching them leave by car, Housekeeper Zhao sighed and turned back into the living room.

After thinking for a while, just as he was about to go upstairs to find Fu Yinli, the man already appeared at the staircase, coming downstairs with a tall stance.

He took the initiative to say, "Sir, the old man just came by."

Fu Yinli glanced at the table which hadn’t been cleaned up yet and asked him, "Left?"

"Just left."

He picked up the pack of cigarettes on the table, took one out, lit it, and sat silently in the single sofa.

As the smoke rose, his dark eyes became a bit more profound.

After a few seconds, he asked, "Where’s Zhizhi?"

Housekeeper Zhao showed a troubled face and honestly reported, "Miss Su was scared off by the old man."

"What did he say?" His tone instantly became cold.

"The old man wanted a match of social status. Miss Su couldn’t withstand it and just left."

Seeing the situation wasn’t right, Housekeeper Zhao quickly added, "The old man is old and muddled, afraid that he realized his mistake, so he didn’t dare to see you again."

Fu Yinli took a deep drag on his cigarette, took his phone out from his suit pants, and called Su Lingzhi.

She wouldn’t answer.

Immediately, a message was sent over.

[Lili, I’m fine, I just want to calm down alone for a while]

Fu Yinli’s eyes grew darker, suddenly clutching the phone tightly. He extinguished the remaining half of the cigarette, took the car from the garage, and went out to find her.

Su Lingzhi was walking alone on the tree-lined path with her head down, watching her skirt flap at her ankles repeatedly, her gaze unfocused with no boundaries.

Leaving the Jing Garden, she really felt like a homeless person, unable to think of anywhere else to go.

Perhaps it’s because she lived in Jing Garden relying on Lili’s assistance, depending on others, which caused his grandfather to have a prejudice against her. Of course, she also understood the old man’s desire for a match of social status, but looking at it this way, her identity indeed couldn’t match a family like Fu’s.

No wonder the Shao family was persistently chasing after Lili because, in the eyes of those powerful people, she would eventually be kicked out.

However, being kicked by Lili’s own family hurt so much that she could hardly breathe.

At this moment, she truly realized how sensitive and fragile she became, without a family or kin as her support, she was easily shattered.

A warm mist clouded her eyes, Su Lingzhi raised her head, trying to control herself from letting the tears fall.

But she eventually couldn’t resist the surging emotions, and tears gushed out uncontrollably, no matter how she tried to block or wipe them away.

At this moment, a handkerchief appeared in front of her.

She looked up at the person beside her, hurriedly turned away to wipe her tears, and said with a muffled voice, "President Pei, why are you here?"

Pei Xu frowned as he looked at those eyes streaked with tears, handed her the handkerchief, and asked, "Were you bullied?"

Su Lingzhi took the handkerchief and wiped her face, responding, "I’m fine, just a bit sad."

"If you want to cry, just let it out."

Su Lingzhi bit her lip hard, suppressing her emotions, "I’m fine."

Her voice was choked up badly, and tears wouldn’t stop falling.

Pei Xu frowned tightly, suddenly stepped forward, pulled her into his embrace, gently stroking her head, trying to comfort her emotions.

"Just cry it out, you’ll feel better afterward."

Not knowing what happened to her to feel such grievance, seeing her so upset caused a dull ache in his heart.

But the little girl pushed him away.

"President Pei, I’m fine, thank you."

After she finished speaking, Su Lingzhi ran off and flagged down a taxi at the intersection.

Fu Yinli found Su Lingzhi at the single apartment that Lindxu had arranged for her.

Su Lingzhi kept her head down, not daring to look at him, not wanting him to see her in such a mess.

She didn’t know how he found her or how he knew exactly which floor and room she was in, but he just wouldn’t stop ringing the doorbell for a long time.

Fu Yinli held her hand, brought her to the sofa, and embraced her as they sat down.

For the entire afternoon, he didn’t say a word, just held her without letting go, until night fell.

He could give her time to calm down, but her space for calmness couldn’t be without him.

"Come back to Jing Garden with me." Fu Yinli broke the silence.

Su Lingzhi’s body was already numb, her facial skin taut, she got off him and sat beside him, speaking softly, "I’ll pass. I have work tomorrow, and it’s closer to the company here."

"Then come back to Ziwei."

"I don’t want to leave."

"I’ll carry you over."

Su Lingzhi was at a loss for words. She drew a breath and said honestly, "I don’t want to rely on others anymore; it’s more comfortable in my own space."

"Who says you’re relying on someone?" Fu Yinli furrowed his brows, his tone becoming a bit sharper.

Su Lingzhi kept her head down, not looking at him.

All in all, she didn’t want to touch anything related to the Fu family.

Fu Yinli held her into his arms, comforting her gently, "Zhizhi, you don’t need to take my grandfather’s words to heart, leave everything to me to handle, okay?"

"But he’s not wrong; I really can’t match up to you. Since knowing you, I’ve always felt this way; I’m afraid one day I might get lost in your world and never be able to come out, I’m also afraid, without you, I won’t do well in anything."

"We won’t be apart, I promise you."

"That’s not what I mean." Su Lingzhi sat up, looking at him in the dim light, "Lili, I never thought of separating from you. I just want to realize my value by relying on my abilities, to stand by your side. I don’t want to be looked down upon by your family anymore."

Fu Yinli’s brows furrowed tighter, his throat inexplicably choked.
