I'm an Undercover Witch, Not a Bed-Warming Witch!

Chapter 74

Chapter 74

74. Illusion Heart God

Tao Yao's state was strange. Her expression seemed to be reminiscing about something. As she rested on Meng Lian's thighs, the corners of her eyes seemed to glisten with tears.

What was this? It felt like a widow's memoir.

Meng Lian's legs had gone numb. She didn't dare move a muscle.

As expected, having a beautiful girl rest on your lap was only enjoyable for the one doing the resting. For the beautiful girl being used as a pillow, it was torture.

Meng Lian sighed inwardly. She looked down at Tao Yao's small face. Well, she could only see half of it.

She didn't know how long Tao Yao planned to rest. Hopefully she wouldn't fall asleep.

Wait.

Meng Lian faintly heard Tao Yao's even breathing. The corner of her mouth twitched.

You bastard, you actually fell asleep?!

……

Tao Yao was woken by a ringtone. She opened her eyes, somewhat displeased.

She had been having a wonderful dream. This ringtone was truly killing the mood.

When Tao Yao opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was a beautifully curved woman, then Meng Lian's expression of utter despair.

You're finally awake.

"How long was I asleep?"

"An hour."

Meng Lian rubbed her now numb thighs, her small face resentful.

You slept comfortably, but I've been suffering here.

"Is that so? Haah. That was quite a good sleep."

Tao Yao sat up, yawned, and ignored Meng Lian's resentful gaze. She picked up her phone and froze when she saw the incoming call.

"Something happened. Get to Return Star Port immediately. Bring as many people as you can."

When she answered, a cold voice came through. Tao Yao's heart skipped a beat.

"What happened? I'm alone right now. Where am I supposed to find people?"

"Can't explain over the phone. Just bring whoever you can. Get here now!"

Beep beep.

The call ended. Tao Yao was so frustrated she wanted to throw her phone onto the sofa.

The only person beside her was a golden-haired, big-chested beauty. Where was she supposed to find people?

Tao Yao looked at Meng Lian, who was still rubbing her thighs and wondering where to go for dinner. Just then, she sensed an ill-intentioned gaze.

"What? I'm not playing tentacles with you."

Meng Lian hurriedly hugged herself and shrank into the corner, looking at Tao Yao warily.

Tao Yao rolled her eyes beautifully. "What goes through that little head of yours all day? Come with me first. I'll pay you ten thousand credits afterward."

"Where?"

Hearing ten thousand credits, Meng Lian's eyes lit up, but she quickly grew alert again.

She remembered she was only worth ten thousand credits. Was Tao Yao finally showing her true colors?

"Return Star Port. It's a legitimate place. Maybe clear out some of the garbage in that brain of yours!"

……

Return Star Port was one of the major ports where the Witch Academy docked their spacecraft. Normally, cargo ships would depart from here tonight. But now, Return Star Port was bathed in red light. Alarms blared continuously. Fires raged everywhere, and explosions echoed without end.

By the time Tao Yao brought Meng Lian there, chaos had already erupted. Various cargo robots had begun attacking indiscriminately. Timer bombs seemed to have been planted in warehouses throughout the area, sending pillars of flame into the sky at random intervals.

"Ye, I'm here. What exactly is going on?"

The ground was covered in firelight. Tao Yao took out a peach blossom-shaped metal badge. Under Meng Lian's astonished gaze, the badge instantly expanded into a flying vehicle. Tao Yao carried Meng Lian and Ye into the air, looking down at the devastation below with tightly knitted brows.

"They acted ahead of schedule."

Ye was a red-haired girl with golden highlights at the ends of her hair. She looked like a blazing flame, but her entire demeanor was cold and detached, creating a strange contrast.

Ye glanced at Meng Lian. Seeing this, Tao Yao quickly explained, "She's not on the list. Don't worry."

What list? And who were "they"?

Meng Lian had an ominous feeling. She sensed she was overlooking something important.

"Good."

Ye nodded. She pointed in a direction, signaling Tao Yao to fly toward a certain warehouse.

This warehouse hadn't caught fire. Ye descended from the flying vehicle and walked inside.

"I've already checked here. No fire bombs."

The warehouse was stacked with cargo covered in white cloth, forming small mountains marked with numbers.

Batch 0523...

Meng Lian looked around. Just then, Ye pulled out a folding table from somewhere, then produced a teapot and three cups.

"Biluochun. Try some. My family roasted it."

Ye always seemed to wear the same expression. Only when drinking tea did she reveal a hint of enjoyment.

"No way. Since they've already made their move, we should act too."

Tao Yao couldn't sit still, but Ye looked completely at ease, showing no sign of urgency.

"Tao Yao, don't panic. They moved early, but the big fish hasn't appeared yet. Anything we do now would be useless. Better to wait for the Dean's instructions before acting."

"Then why did you call me here? And told me to bring more people."

Tao Yao knew they could only wait and see, but seeing Ye leisurely sipping tea made her blood boil.

"I wasn't worried they might get desperate and come after me. Having more people gives me a sense of security."

Ye glanced at Meng Lian, who was sitting properly beside her, a teasing look in her eyes.

"Your little girlfriend is quite easy on the eyes though. Not bad."

"She's not my girlfriend. Her name is Meng Lian, a new Junior Sister. Be serious."

Tao Yao couldn't take it anymore and flicked Ye on the forehead.

"Senior, what exactly is happening right now?"

Meng Lian watched the two of them bantering and finally couldn't help asking.

She had an intuition that something here definitely concerned her.

"This..."

Tao Yao froze. She looked at Ye, but Ye just shrugged.

"Why are you looking at me? You decide."

"Fine. You'll find out about something this big sooner or later."

Tao Yao thought for a moment, then turned to Meng Lian. "Do you remember Chen Li from before?"

Chen Li?!

Hearing this unexpected name, Meng Lian's pupils shrank. She never imagined this matter would be connected to her.

The unease in her heart grew rapidly. Tao Yao continued, "Chen Li is an undercover agent sent by the Galaxy Alliance. Not long ago, our undercover agents infiltrated the Alliance's upper ranks and stole a list of undercover agents within the witches. We planned to wait and watch, hoping to catch them all in one net. We didn't want to alert them prematurely. But unexpectedly, they acted ahead of schedule tonight. This chaos is probably their doing. They're trying to escape in the confusion."

Tao Yao looked at Meng Lian's dazed expression, assuming she was just short-circuiting from the explosive information.

After all, Meng Lian had just enrolled. How could she have encountered something like this before? Her reaction was understandable.

Tao Yao didn't think too much of it. Her tone suddenly grew excited.

"But since they decided to act early, that means the big fish couldn't sit still either. Haha, finally time to close the net. These past few days have been exhausting."

……

"Kill you? What do you mean?"

In the private room, Zi Yan looked at Bai Wei, who was smiling at her, and her heart sank. The intuition of a Great Witch suddenly erupted.

At that moment, the Bai Wei across from her began to darken.

"Senior Sister, literally what it means. Please kill me later. This is my final request."

The words "Senior Sister" made Zi Yan's pupils contract. Then, Bai Wei's figure dissolved into points of white light, gradually fading away.

[Illusion. Third Stage] Illusion Heart God

"I knew your talent would reach Great Witch level. Illusion Heart God. Illusion Heart God. The only spell the teacher passed on to you, and you never abandoned it. You even fooled me with it."

Zi Yan's voice trembled. She had already realized what had happened.

Ring ring ring!

A piercing alarm sounded throughout the Witch Academy. Everyone looked terrified, staring at the electronic devices throughout the campus flashing red, completely panicked.

This was a Level One Alert. It only triggered when the academy suffered an attack at the Great Witch level.

In the private room, Zi Yan sat frozen in place, listening to the blaring alarms all around her. She didn't move an inch.

Kill me!

Bai Wei's voice exploded in her ears. Zi Yan raised her head, her eyes flashing with determination.

I won't let you die!

Purple light burst from Zi Yan's eyes. She grabbed a white thread from the air. The other end of the thread seemed to be guiding her somewhere.
