Chapter 32: Landing
Chapter 32: Landing
The ship slowly descended on a cliff side air port while giving the magnificent view of the Academy City. Dozens of other ships also slowly descended towards the airport. It was situated on the wall of a massive valley.
On the deck, few students have gathered while most looked at the view from the compartment below.
There were many building scattered around a massive area. Those where the Academies. And the place near the valley is where there is most population is. This is the market place of Academy City.
The Academies of the Academy City was territorial. The founders have set up their Academy in the place they saw most suitable.
All the Academy were situated near each other. In an area of more than a thousand kilometers in diameter.
But the actual Academy City is over 100,000 Square kilometers. The reason being, there are many zones for the students to stumble upon various opportunities that could change their lives. This area may seem like a peaceful place but it was a war zone of an forgotten era.
There are many inheritances left by ancient experts which the students can find. If fate allows them.
There are secret dungeons, ancient ruins, buried under ground civilisations scattered around this area, all for the students to explore.
Despite the long time passed since the foundation of Academy City, students still stumble upon opportunities that changes their course of life greatly.
Many power around the world eyes this place but doesn’t dare to make a move because of only one man,
Saffron Fruma.
’Tck. That old man is seriously a monster.’
Quash couldn’t help but feel a bit chill in his heart. This was the safe heaven of growth. The only place in the world that allowed commoners with no background to grow and rival the top geniuses.
Anywhere else, it’s all racism, exploitation and what not.
Though people co exist, the underlining racism is still there.
But regardless of that, Quash felt slight excitement boiling up inside his heart. He was finally here. Towards the first step to establish himself in this world.
The ship landed and he got off the shop with Alan and Elina. All three of the marveling the level of architecture required to built this.
The airport had constant announcements ringing. Clamours of excited students filled the air. Anticipation, nervous, hopefulness married the students faces.
Students from all over the world has come here. From different races that normally can’t be seen.
Dragons, Demons, Elves, Dwarves, Ogres, Humans and many more races.
Quash breathed in and out to calm his excited heart. A smile involuntarily formed on his face.
"Quash! Where is your Ranking Bandge!?"
Alan suddenly asked him. He was talking loudly because his voice was getting drowned in the clamours atmosphere around them other wise.
"Oh, right."
Quash suddenly remembered it and pulled out a dark brown coloured, circular badge from his Spatial Ring. It was ancient looking, but smooth with intricate patterns coiling around the edge. And at the center displayed a number.
[503,474]
"Holy hell! Dude! How come your so far behind!? I’m ranked 108,578th! And Elina is 78,858th! What kind of crime did you commit in your past life to get such bad start!"
Alan suddenly screamed near his ears which made his ears ring. He frowned in irritation and lightly shoved him away.
"I can hear you just fine from here idiot! You’re going to busrt my ears! And Ranking now doesn’t matter! If I can have multiple winning streak, I can get into top thousand without a problem! So shut your trap!"
"Yo, yo, yo! Why you being so salty man! It’s not that deep! Chill!"
"Tck."
Quash just frowned and didn’t say anything. Elina giggled softly from the side whole Alan looked like he had the most satisfying meal of his life. His expression estatic.
Quash snorted and started walking ahead of them. Slowly walking into the airport with the swarm of crowd. The interior of the airport looked more like a metropolitan train station back on earth before he had flipped everything on the technology slate.
There was no reason for them to get checked because they all have the Ranking Badge on. Anyone without it will be immediately marked by the Formation aroundthe air port.
And if they don’t have any other forms of permits, the Formation will activate and security will arrive to escort them to... some questionable place.
The trio slowly climbed their ways up towards the surface. Quash noticed that students Ranked in various numbers.
The reason was simple. Because it was random. In the final year of the high school, the students sends their application to the Academy City and they process all the application, register their information and they courier the badges to the given address two months prior.
But the Top 100 is a bit different. It is not random. The Academy City Council carefully reviews all the best applications and issues them ranks in accordance under the watchful gaze of Saffron Fruma.
And because of that, the whole world keeps tabs on the Ranking notice published by the Academy City to know who are the Top 100 prodigies of the world this year.
And mot so surprisingly, almost all the time, the Top 100 is filled with students from Kingdoms, clans or big corporations.
As Quash was thinking, the brightness of the world around him changed significantly that he had to squint his eyes and shield it with his hand. The Sun blazed above the sky brightly, the blue sky with cotton candy like clouds flowing through the sky.
The scent of fresh air mixed with dense Natural Energy felt like tingles to his brain. The Natural Energy here was so dense that Quash could feel his Aura increasing as he circulated.
He wasn’t even actively thinking of pulling the Natural energy into his Vains, the air was so full with Natural Energy that just by circulating, he was experiencing passive increase.
But he quickly stopped circulating. Least he spread some misunderstanding that he has some Spacial Condition that was very Attuned to Natural Energy.
He could already see few heads turning towards him when they sensed the anomaly. But they couldn’t pin point it because he had stopped at before they could.
