I Don't Want To Be An Omega In My Sister's Trashy Reverse Harem [BL]

Chapter 203: The Night She Chose To Steal!

Chapter 203: The Night She Chose To Steal!

Dinner at the D’Amaris house was usually a loud thing with both father and daughter chatting about their day, servants moving and music playing softly in the background,

But tonight, the grand dining room was painfully quiet.

Her father had ordered her favourite dishes... soft lamb stew with herbs, cream soup, warm bread, and even the sweet red fruit drink she had loved since childhood. The long table was full, almost ridiculous for only two people.

Yet Seraphina barely touched anything.

She sat there, chin resting on her palm, eyes unfocused. Her spoon dipped into the soup once, then stayed floating there.

She wasn’t thinking about dinner. She wasn’t even thinking about her father even though he had hit her.

She was thinking about Rin. Everything about him replayed in her mind like a loop she couldn’t stop.

She tapped her nails on the table, annoyed.

"How am I supposed to sit here and eat when Mirielle is living under the same roof as him?"

Meanwhile, her father was watching her with concern. He thought he understood the reason for her silence... and he was terribly wrong.

He slowly placed his fork down. "Seraphina?"

She didn’t look up.

He cleared his throat and tried again, voice softer. "Seraphina... about this morning."

He paused, rubbing his forehead. "I should not have slapped you. I lost my temper. I was worried."

There was still no response.

He sighed heavily. "I only want the best for you. I know you’re upset about the idea of me remarrying but..."

Still no reaction.

He continued gently, trying to reach her.

"I do not want to bring another woman into this house, not without you knowing who she is. I only... I only thought maybe if you and Elyria spoke more, you would see she is kind. She likes you. She—"

Seraphina blinked slowly, not even hearing his words. Her mind was somewhere else entirely.

How to get Rin.

How to get him before Mirielle did.

How to keep him.

Mirielle had the advantage. The access to the Vortellion estate made it convenient for her.

She imagined Mirielle getting Rin before she does.

Her jaw clenched at the thought.

’No. Absolutely not!’

Mirielle already held the upper hand. Seraphina needed to make a move, and quickly.

Think. Think. Think.

What should she do? Anything that would claim her as the winner.

Then something clicked in her head.

Her eyes sharpened, and she sat up straight.

Her father noticed the sudden movement.

"Seraphina? Did you... hear what I said?"

But she wasn’t listening. An idea had just flashed into her mind... a reckless one, but she didn’t care.

"I’m going to bed early," she said abruptly, pushing her chair back.

Her father stood up before she could reach the door and caught her arm. "Are you still angry with me?"

Seraphina paused.

Then she gave a soft laugh... A practised one, gentle and harmless.

"No, Father. I’m not angry. I’m just tired. I spent too much time with the ladies at the tea party today. My head hurts."

He touched her forehead out of concern.

"Then don’t stress yourself. And stay indoors for now."

His voice lowered.

"The demons are already making moves."

She nodded obediently like a perfect daughter. "Goodnight, Father."

She kissed his cheek and walked away with a polite smile.

The moment she turned the corner and he could no longer see her, the smile dropped like a mask thrown aside.

Her eyes hardened.

"Prepare the carriage," she ordered her maid the moment she entered her room.

The maid blinked. "My lady? A carriage? You mean, at the back of the mansion?"

"Yes. And quickly."

The maid hesitated. "Are... you going out?"

"Of course, I am." Seraphina walked toward her dressing screen and began removing her jewellery. "It’s urgent."

The maid helped unfasten her gown’s lace. "Should I inform the marquis?"

"No." Her tone was sharp for a moment, then softened. "Father will only nag if he finds out."

She slipped into a light, simple dress that was easy to move in. Then she pulled a travel cloak from the wardrobe... a dark one that would blend into the night.

As she tied the ribbon at her throat, the maid asked carefully, "May I ask... why do we need a carriage?"

Seraphina brushed her hair aside and picked up her boots. "Because," she said calmly, "I have to steal something."

The maid froze. "S-Steal?"

"From Mirielle."

The maid’s mouth fell open. "My lady... what do you mean by steal? And from Lady Mirielle? What would you steal from..."

"Rin," Seraphina said simply.

The maid looked like she might faint. "My lady, please..."

"Stop questioning me already and prepare the carriage."

There was no room for argument.

Once the maid left, Seraphina climbed out of her bedroom window instead of using the door. She moved with surprising speed and slipped into the shadows toward the small carriage waiting near the back gate. The maid helped her inside, trembling slightly.

After the carriage began moving, the maid finally dared to speak. "My lady... are you sure? Even if Lady Mirielle hands Rin over to the Hertford family... the result is the same."

Seraphina didn’t answer.

The maid continued, with a small voice.

"Either way... Rin will be taken. And both of you will get what you want. Why risk everything tonight?"

Seraphina stared out the window at the dark forest path, eyes cold and focused.

"I don’t like the idea of Mirielle getting the victory," she said softly.

"Victory?" the maid whispered. "Is this... a competition?"

Seraphina said nothing. Her silence was the answer. To her, it was.

They arrived at the Hertford path... an isolated route leading to the Hertford sisters’ estate.

They stopped in the dark, wheels settling quietly on dirt. The air was cold. Mist crawled low across the ground like a thin blanket.

They waited ten minutes.

Then fifteen.

Then twenty.

The maid began shivering. "M-My lady... no one is coming."

"Wait."

"But—"

"I. Said. Wait. Even if they don’t come today, tomorrow, we’ll come back and stand here."

Another ten minutes passed.

And then... they heard it.

The distant gallop of horses.

Seraphina straightened. "Here they come."

A carriage appeared, lantern light bouncing off its polished sides.

Seraphina stood up and stepped into the road, raising one hand.

"Stop."

The horseman panicked, pulling the reins sharply. The carriage halted a few feet away. He stared at her, sweat trailing down his neck.

"My lady!" he stammered. "You... why—"

"What is inside?" Seraphina asked calmly.

He looked nervous. "It’s... a present. For the Hertford sisters."

Her eyes narrowed. "A present?"

He swallowed hard. "Yes, my lady."

"Open it."

He hesitated. "I was instructed to deliver it personally..."

Seraphina’s expression sharpened dangerously. "Are you refusing a noble’s order?"

The horseman’s face went pale. He jumped down from his seat immediately and bowed so low his head nearly touched the ground.

"M-My lady, forgive me! I didn’t mean... I would never— Please spare me!"

Seraphina stepped aside. "Of course, I will spare you. I am merciful, after all. Stand there, my servants will handle it."

Her blade-eyed servants moved quickly. They opened the carriage, lifted the unconscious person inside, and placed them into Seraphina’s carriage.

The maid held her breath.

Seraphina turned to the horseman with a chilling smile. "Tell Mirielle you delivered the package properly. Nothing will happen to you."

The horseman nodded rapidly. "Y-Yes, my lady! Thank you, my lady!"

Seraphina shrugged, climbed back into her carriage, and let out a small, satisfied laugh.

"Finally! Let’s go."

.

The Hertford mansion was dimly lit, quiet, and heavy with an atmosphere that felt wrong.

When Seraphina’s carriage stopped before the front steps, the servant knocked. Soon after, the main door opened.

Jane stood there.

Her eyes were red and swollen. She wore a simple black dress, plain and unfamiliar on her usually fashionable figure.

"Hello, Lady Jane," Seraphina frowned. "Why are you dressed like that?"

Jane lowered her head. "My father... Marquess Hertford died this afternoon."

Seraphina gasped dramatically. "Oh... did I come at a bad time?"

But before Jane could respond, Audrey’s voice cut through the air.

"I’ll handle it, sister. You should go inside."

Jane hesitated, looking between them. But Audrey’s expression was firm... cold even. So Jane bowed slightly and stepped back inside the house.

The door closed behind her.

Audrey turned back with a sharp glare. "What are you doing here, Seraphina?"

Seraphina flinched slightly at the tone. Audrey’s usual smiles were gone. Her eyes were colder than snow.

Seraphina swallowed and tried to look composed. "I... brought Rin."

Audrey blinked... and something in her eyes changed instantly.

"That fast?" She stepped closer. "I gave you two days."

"I... I couldn’t wait," Seraphina lied smoothly. "It was easy."

Audrey glanced toward the mansion, then pulled the door mostly shut behind her and stepped outside fully, her cloak around her shoulders.

"I want to see him," she said quietly.

Seraphina hesitated. "Why?"

Audrey’s eyes turned dangerous for a beat.

Seraphina immediately raised her hands slightly. "Never mind. Come."

The two of them walked together to the carriage.

The maid quickly turned on the mana light when they approached, illuminating the interior with a soft blue glow.

Inside, Rin lay unconscious... peaceful, unaware of any danger.

Audrey froze. Her breath left her chest in a slow, trembling exhale. Seraphina watched her closely.

Audrey stepped closer, her hand shaking slightly as she lifted it.

She touched Rin’s cheek with her fingertips... softly, almost reverently.

Her lips parted. Her eyes widened with something wild... something hungry. Then a wicked grin slowly curved across her face.

"...So this is Rin."

Her voice dropped to a whisper, dark and delighted.

"He’s really... beautiful."
