I Became the Villainess, But My Beast Husbands Can Hear My Mind?!

Chapter 220: Burning Our Pain

Chapter 220: Burning Our Pain

Roxanna blinked several times, pressing her lips together as she watched the warriors and even the elders of the tribe destroy the black hut with all their strength.

Children threw rocks at it. Beastwomen swung stone axes, smashing the wooden walls without holding back. Some of the beastmen had already climbed onto the roof, ripping apart the frame with their bare hands.

The situation unfolding right before her looked like a mass protest, and Roxanna could understand it on a deep level.

After all, who wouldn’t be furious after being oppressed by their leader for so long?

"Hey, Calen! Don’t burn it yet!" Luan shouted after kicking the walls with his leg. "You’ll ruin the fun if you burn it into ashes too quickly!"

"Azul, what the hell are you doing?" Luan protested when he saw Azul only snapping the wooden beams that had already been loosened by others. "Don’t you want to do something better, like ripping off the walls with your own hands? Where is your damn anger?"

Azul hissed softly. "I don’t want wood splinters getting stuck in my fingers. It’s annoying to take them out."

Luan rolled his eyes. "Seriously? That woman tortured you for so long, and instead of getting angry, you’re worried about your damn hands?"

Azul only shrugged. "She’s already dead. Who cares?"

Luan and Azul continued their small argument, while Roxanna simply shook her head. Even in the middle of chaos, her husbands still had things to argue about.

"If the evil Roxanna were still alive and you freed them from their oath, what do you think they would do to her?" Cyrus suddenly asked.

Roxanna had been sitting on a large rock not far from from the black hut, while Cyrus and Zeir stood right beside her.

"I... can’t even imagine it," she admitted softly. "With this much anger... I’m sure they could do anything."

"I would tear her apart and feed her body to Azul’s crocodile friends," Zeir said calmly. His tone was flat, almost emotionless, but that only made it more chilling.

"That... that makes sense," Roxanna murmured.

[When I first came to this world, Zeir also pointed his sword at me—no, I mean at the evil Roxanna’s body.] she thought. [I was so scared of him back then, but well... who wouldn’t want to cut off the head of someone as awful as that woman?]

If she were in his place, she would have done the same.

[But why isn’t he joining them in destroying the black hut?] Roxanna wondered in confusion. [Cyrus isn’t joining either. Why?]

Since she couldn’t stop thinking about it, Roxanna finally asked, "Don’t you want to destroy the black hut as well?"

"There’s no need," Zeir replied right away. "The source of my rage is that evil woman. And since she’s no longer here, I don’t care anymore."

"The body you’re using doesn’t count," Zeir continued. "It’s only a vessel, something used to hold a soul. That’s why I won’t vent my hatred on the vessel or on you."

Roxanna looked at him quietly. It felt like he was trying to reassure her, making sure she wouldn’t feel afraid just because she was in that body.

"I believe you, so... don’t worry, I’m not afraid of you." Roxanna then turned to Cyrus. "And what about you? Why don’t you want to join them?"

Cyrus sighed. "They’re too noisy." He added, "And just like Zeir, my anger is only for my ex-wife, not for an empty building." He paused, then added, "Still... it’s satisfying to watch them tear it apart."

In the end, the three of them simply watched from a distance as the others tore the hut apart and finally set it on fire.

The sky had turned completely dark, but the flames lit up the entire settlement, spreading warmth through the night.

It was kind of strange, though.

That building had been a symbol of the evil Roxanna’s cruelty for years, and it had always been the source of their fear, so much so that most of them didn’t dare go near it.

But who would have thought that one day would come when they no longer had to be afraid to walk near the black hut, and could even destroy it into ashes without facing any consequences?

At that moment, they finally understood something.

If they wanted to truly heal from their painful past, they had to move forward. They needed to start over by building a new home and creating new memories there.

[Ding! Ding!]

The sound of the system’s notification echoed clearly in Roxanna’s mind, but for a moment, she didn’t react.

Her gaze remained fixed on the burning remains of the black hut.

The flames danced wildly, swallowing the last traces of that place, along with the fear, the pain, and the memories that had been tied to it for so long.

"Do you feel good after watching it burn?" someone asked the others.

"Yeah, you’re right. It feels like a big stone in my heart has disappeared!"

"What? How can you have a big stone inside your heart?"

"It’s just a metaphor, you idiot!"

A few people burst into laughter at that.

"Hey, don’t call me an idiot!" the man protested, scratching his head. "I was just asking!"

"Then use your brain a little!" someone else chimed in, still laughing.

"Ah... whatever. The point is, I do feel better," he admitted after a moment, glancing at the burning hut. "It’s like... I can finally breathe."

"Same here," another added. "Every time I passed by that place, I felt like something was pressing down on my chest."

"Yeah... me too."

For a brief moment, the laughter faded, replaced by a softer kind of silence.

Then someone suddenly clapped their hands. "Alright! Enough talking! Tear it down completely! Don’t leave a single piece behind!"

"Yeah!"

"Burn it all!"

The group’s energy rose again, and they threw even more burning pieces of wood at the black hut, making sure nothing would be left of it.

Meanwhile, Roxanna’s husbands moved closer to her. Tearing down the black hut felt satisfying, but seeing their wife looking so sleepy somehow felt even better.

"Careful," Zeir said softly as he caught her just in time when her head suddenly tipped forward, her body almost falling with it.

"Ah... she must be really tired." Azul stepped in and gently took over, replacing Zeir’s hand. "And she’s been nervous this whole time too."

He let Roxanna lean against him, guiding her until her head rested on his chest.

Roxanna could still hear their voices faintly, like they were coming from far away. But for some reason, she just couldn’t bring herself to open her eyes again.

[I feel so sleepy...] she thought, her mind already growing hazy. [Even though I already took a nap earlier...]

But when she thought about it more, it wasn’t just the tiredness.

She had been nervous for too long... and more than that, she hadn’t truly rested at all. Her body might have stopped moving, but her mind never did. It kept worrying, thinking, stressing over everything.

No wonder she felt this exhausted now.

"Alright, I will bring her back to our hut." Azul then carried her, and out of reflex, Roxanna wrapped her legs around his waist and hugged his neck tightly.

Her head rested on Azul’s shoulder now, and she briefly opened her eyes just to look at her other husbands.

They looked somewhat annoyed that Azul was the one carrying her, but they didn’t say anything, as it seemed they didn’t want to accidentally wake her up.

Roxanna let her eyes close again, her grip on Azul tightening slightly as she relaxed against him.

Azul adjusted his hold carefully, making sure she was comfortable. His movements were gentle, almost instinctive, as if he was afraid even the slightest shift might disturb her rest.

"Walk slower," Cyrus muttered, glancing at Roxanna’s peaceful face. "You’ll wake her."

"I know," Azul replied quietly. "I’m not in a hurry."

Behind them, Luan clicked his tongue. "You’re enjoying this too much."

Azul didn’t deny it. "Of course I am."

Luan scoffed, but his gaze softened as he looked at Roxanna. "Next time, it’s my turn."

Zeir simply said, "We’ll decide that later."

For once, no one argued further.

The night was calm, filled only with the distant crackling of fire and the quiet sound of their footsteps.

As Azul walked back toward their hut, Roxanna remained asleep in her husband’s arms, completely unaware of the small, silent competition forming around her.

When Roxanna woke up from her sleep, she was already on the floor mattress in their hut. The sun had appeared, almost above her head, a sign that she had slept until near noon.

When she sat up, she couldn’t find any of her husbands beside her, but she could hear a crackling sound from the kitchen.

"Cyrus?" Roxanna called his name. "Is that you?"
