Chapter 341 - 340: Lost in Thought

Chapter 341 - 340: Lost in Thought

"How long do you plan to stay here?" Tian Qiu asked.Anyway, she couldn’t help at home, so she might as well accompany them.

"Three to five days, I suppose." Beisitian wasn’t sure either. She was thinking of taking a look at Zhou Biwu’s illness. The Tian Family had helped her, and she wanted to see if she could help them. Moreover, she was very interested in the illness that even the Tian Family couldn’t cure.

That’s how practicing medicine was—seeing more patients would increase her experience. Encountering such a case, Beisitian naturally had every reason to take a look.

But how to get a look was a big problem. Beisitian found herself wondering why it was so difficult to treat and save people.

Tian Qiu said she was accompanying them, but in reality, she was keeping an eye on her. Although Beisitian knew she meant well, she still felt troubled.

They didn’t have much time; every day delayed was another day wasted!

"Xiao Wu, let’s go, Sis will take you shopping for clothes!" Tian Qiu said enthusiastically. There were many department stores in Beijing, with every kind of clothing imaginable.

Beisitian had little interest. She wanted to shake her head as she thought about Tian Qiu. Luo Xudong hadn’t returned after saying he was going out to meet friends that morning.

"Let’s go." Tian Qiu wouldn’t take no for an answer, dragging Beisitian along with her.

Beisitian felt helpless, but without Tian Qiu to guide her, she couldn’t get to Zhou Biwu. That place must be heavily guarded by now.

"After buying clothes, Sis will take you to eat," Tian Qiu said with great enthusiasm.

Beisitian, dragged to shop for clothes, sighed as Tian Qiu insisted on paying for them, leaving Beisitian smiling wryly.

"Cousin, that’s not how you should spend money!" Beisitian sighed.

"And how should I spend it then? The money I earn, I can spend it however I like!" Tian Qiu said confidently.

Tian Qiu bought Beisitian a pair of pretty boots, a knitted dress for winter, a knitted sweater, and other miscellaneous items. Altogether, this shopping trip cost over one hundred, nearly two hundred, which was equivalent to a month’s salary for some!

"Sis is loaded!" Tian Qiu said in the tone of a nouveau riche.

"Loaded? I think you should save some, lest you can’t even afford porridge!" a mocking voice came.

Upon hearing the voice, Tian Qiu’s face fell. She turned to see two men and two women walking over together.

It was a man speaking, dressed in a suit but with hair styled like a rooster’s comb. He wore a pink shirt under his open suit jacket, dressed up nicely but with a frivolous gaze, looking Tian Qiu up and down before his eyes lit up at the sight of Beisitian by her side.

"Oh, who’s this little sister? Never seen her before. Sister Qiu, aren’t you going to introduce us?" Ma Tiankui said with a grin.

Tian Qiu sneered, "I’m not brain-damaged. Why would I introduce a fine person to animals?"

Beisitian giggled; she wasn’t one to take a loss.

Ma Tiankui’s expression changed, his eyes narrowing in anger. "I’m calling you Sister Qiu, don’t be ungrateful. You really think you’re still that rich lady from before? You know better than anyone the state of the Tian Family now. Isn’t it true that even the Weng Family is about to drop you? Let’s see how arrogant you’ll be as a discarded woman!"

"Even if the Tian Family falls, the Ma family won’t rise, so don’t even dream!" Tian Qiu snorted coldly.

Both families were considered medical families, with family members practicing both Chinese and Western medicine, mostly in military hospitals, having some connections and influence in this circle. But compared to the Tian Family, they were nothing.

With rumors of General Zhou’s severe illness, these clowns began to jump around.

"Once you’re discarded, I won’t mind. You can come into my arms, hahaha... er, puff!"

Ma Tiankui’s arrogant laughter was abruptly cut off. A man kicked him in the stomach, causing him to grimace in pain. Looking up, he discovered it was Weng Yong’an!

Weng Yong’an’s eyes were icy cold, lips pressed tightly. Not satisfied after a kick, he reached out to grab Ma Tiankui by the collar. Seeing this, Ma Tiankui’s face changed dramatically. He hurriedly retreated, moving so hastily he fell but scrambled away.

"Yong’an..." Tian Qiu gazed at Weng Yong’an’s broad back, her eyes flashing with various emotions.

Weng Yong’an turned back, his captivating eyes showing a hint of a smile. "Xiaoqiu, you’re out shopping?"

He had heard Tian Qiu was taking leave and thought she returned to the Tian house, rushing over. Unexpectedly, he ran into her being bullied by the Ma and Xie families.

Tian Qiu quickly lowered her gaze, avoiding looking at the concern in Weng Yong’an’s eyes. She couldn’t help but wonder if it was real. Now was absolutely not the time to get deeper, to avoid future heartache should things change.

Seeing Tian Qiu’s evasiveness, Weng Yong’an’s brow furrowed, his mood sinking. He glanced at Beisitian and paused, surprised. Clearly, this girl looked very young, and he didn’t remember Tian Qiu having such a friend.

"Who’s this?" Weng Yong’an asked.

Tian Qiu pulled Beisitian over, smiling as she said, "She’s my little sister, Shitentian. Yong’an, where are you headed?"

Weng Yong’an shook his head, "Nothing much, just happened to wander here. You continue shopping; I’ll head back now."

Watching Weng Yong’an leave, Tian Qiu felt distracted for a moment, then returned to normal, continuing to shop with Beisitian.

Beisitian also watched Weng Yong’an, lost in thought, her brow slightly furrowed, as if puzzled by something.

"Cousin, how long have you two been married?" Beisitian casually asked.

"Two years, why?" Tian Qiu looked at her, puzzled by the sudden question.

"You haven’t had children?" Beisitian asked, looking up.

Tian Qiu suddenly fell silent. It wasn’t that they hadn’t tried but couldn’t. If they had a child, things might not be as they were now.

Seeing her silence, Beisitian guessed what happened and refrained from asking further, shifting the conversation to the clothes they bought.

Changing the topic, Tian Qiu soon regained her cheerful demeanor, chatting and laughing with Beisitian.

"You’d better stop calling me cousin; just call me Sister Qiu," Tian Qiu said, playfully pinching her face, finding it smooth and tender. She couldn’t resist.

Covering her face, Beisitian thought, "..." You’re an adult, can’t you keep your hands to yourself?

At noon, Tian Qiu treated Beisitian to lunch before finally letting her go, mentioning she had to return to the Tian Family.

Beisitian showed a wry smile immediately. It would have been best if Tian Qiu had taken her along, but she adamantly refused.

Was coming to the Capital City just a vacation? She almost forgot a crucial person—Wu Yuekai!
