Husband you've abandoned me. Fine, I'll focus on raising my son

Chapter 309: Settle the score

Chapter 309: Settle the score

"You can’t go in there Keith not alone. If he wants Keith to enter and give him what he wants," Louis warned.

I ignored him and and focused on the officer. "What do you suggest?" I asked him.

"We can’t allow him to gain the upper hand. If you fall into his hands with those documents which are fake you nothing will progress. We would need someone to go in there and back you up."

I was just about ready to end this all. I just wanted to get my son and Jasmine and bring them all home.

"Perhaps we can ask Marco, Kolton’s son," Louis spoke up. "He’s lived here for a long time. Perhaps he knows a few ways around the place."

I looked towards the small boy and saw him staring at us with the blanket wrapped around his shoulders. I realized his eyes were focused on me in particular.

JASMINE’S POV

From the car parked in the drive way, Kolton took Tony and I inside his home. Two of his men were pointing guns at us. The I held onto Tony. I was really regretting jumping out of the car like that earlier.

From the mansion entrance were were led to the dining room.

"Sit down," ordered us. I continued to hold Tony closely as I did as he said.

I looked around the house taking in the place that had been my son’s prison for the past few weeks. It different in design from his mother’s home.

I had to get my son out of here.

"What are you planning, Kolton? You’ve been found out you can’t possibly continue with your plan now?" I demanded.

His phone rang and he took it out looked at and back at me.. A wide smile appeared on his face.

"Look it’s your husband, Jasmine," he informed me as he turned his phone my way for me to see. My eyes widened at the sight of Keith’s name.

"Let’s see what he has to say." he said. "Hello, Keith," he answered. he kept his eyes on me as he did so.

"...If you want to see you wife and child again. You know what it is you have to do..." he replied. He was still keeping that ransom going.

"... But I can you can call off the the charges..." he went on.

I internaly scoffed. So that’s why wasn’t worried at about the fact we knew he was the culprit. He was planning on Keith bailing him out from having to face any charges. Ridiclous.

Once the call ended, Kolton turned back to me. "I suppose now you know what I want," he told me.

I shook my head in disapproval.

His brownish/gold eyes stared into mine with an unsettling smirk."Sit and hug your son tight as I handle the situation. Will you and your son make it alive? We’ll find out how your husband handles this."

"You’re a psychopath," I said to him.

My tongue clicked. He was making a joke out of this. He didn’t care at all.

"What have my son and I done to deserve this?" I demanded. "It’s Keith and your father that you actually resent, isn’t it?"

I had died in my previous life because of all this. I had gone through so much. Diana taking my place, Keith abandoning me, my ’illness’ or rather poisoning. My son being left alone after my death. So much and

"Fortunately for you it’s actually nothing personal Jasmine. However, unfortunately, you just happened to be married to the wrong person. I don’t have access to Keith or my father but I could target the people closest to him," he told me.

I scoffed at that. I can’t believe that my son and I suffering was just collateral damage.

One of Kolton’s men entered the room. "A word please, sir," he asked. He and Kolton went to the doorway of the room. They were still within earshot.

The two guards in the room watched us. Holding their guns.

"Mum," Tony then called me.

"Mmhm?" I replied looking down at him still in my arms.

"So Dad’s coming to get us?" he asked me in a whisper.

"I don’t know Tony," I answered him in small voice. I wanted to give him a clear answer but I was still trying to figure out our situation. My eyes focused on the guns the guards held. I kissed tony head as I contemplated.

I also listened to the conversation between Kolton and the guard that asked to speak with him.

"The police are here and they’ve surrounded the area around the property," I heard the man say to Kolton. My eyebrows perched up at that. Had Louis called them? I’m sure it was him. Thank goodness.

"Is my brother there?" Kolton asked.

"I’m not sure. The men can’t get closer to see everyone present."

"Tell them it’s a hostage situation and of they want me to release the Chairman’s wife and child he should come up here and speak with me."

My jaw clenched upon hearing that. How can Kolton be so sure sure Keith will fight for Tony and I? I fucked up when I ran from Keith only yesterday. I can’t rely on that, I’m sure he wants to kill me.

"I want you to make a perimeter around the property make sure nobody slips through," Kolton informed them.

"Yes, sir," he accpeted the order and then left.

Kolton then spoke to some other men in the next room.

Tony and I continued to wait in the dining room in silence. Not being able to move as we waited helplessy for the next situation to unfold. I looked out the window of the room and saw the distance purplish glow of the horizon in the night sky letting me know dawn was approaching. I felt Tony trembling beside and realized he was cold.

"You feeling cold?" I asked him.

"Yes," he replied as he slowly nodded his head. I took off my cardigan and draped it over his shoulders. I remained with the T-shirt that I wore underneath.

"Better?" I asked as I rubbed his shoulders.

He nodded in response. I had to speak with him to reduce some of the fear he probably had.

"You saved Marco. That was so brave and kind of you," I told him.

He gave me a small smile. "I wanted for atleast one of us to make it. But I didn’t want you to get with kidnapped with me. I’m sorry," he apologized.

"Hey, that was not your fault so don’t blame yourself at all," I reassured him. On the contrary that was my fault. I was too reckless.

"I really missed you mum," he said again as he hugged me once more. "I knew you and Louis would come and find me."

"I missed you too." I replied. "If it hadn’t been for that picture you drew at the other house I wouldn’t have seen it.

He looked at me with tears glistening in his eyes. "You found the picture?"

I nodded.

"Oh, thank goodness. I was worried," he continued to whisper.

"What were you doing outside?" I asked him wondering what that had been about.

He slowly explained how he and Marco had escaped from the property earlier in the night. I was shocked but also impressed. Tony was so smart. From escaping to thinking of leaving the drawing at the other house. I couldn’t be more proud of him.

"What are you two speaking about?" Kolton’s annoying voice asked as he entered the room once more. Tony and I stopped talking and looked at him.

I thought of the first thing that came to mind. "Where’s Diana. Shouldn’t she be helping you?" I asked.

"Who answers a question with a question?" he told me as he approached the dining table Tony and I were seated at.

A moment later another one of Kolton’s men re-entered the room.

"Sir, Chairman Acland said he is ready to enter and wants to begin the negotiations with you," the man informed Kolton.

"Good," he replied. "Make sure you search him for weapens before he comes through and that the police and everyone around dont try anything."

It was about ten minutes later when Keith entered the room. He was escorted by the two of Kolton’s men who pointed the gun at him. Keith’s eyes immediately met mine and I my heart was hammering in my chest.
