Chapter 4 Opening Ceremony
Chapter 4 Opening Ceremony
The Beijing Film Academy went to great lengths to recruit her this year. In order to avoid making it too obvious and to ensure she wasn't last in the rankings, the acting department, which originally planned to recruit 30 people, expanded its recruitment to 42.
At least 11 people should thank Little Yellow Duck; without her, these people wouldn't even have gotten into the Beijing Film Academy.
"Look at this, this is the treatment celebrities get," Li Chao remarked, looking at the reporters surrounding them in layers. "Unlike us, we couldn't even get a chance to 'crash' them."
"That's how a real man should be?" Lin Yu leaned against the tree and chuckled as he teased.
"Yes, that's how a real man should be," Li Chao continued, following Lin Yu's lead, without realizing what was happening.
"If you want things to go this way, I'll get you a plane ticket to Thailand," Lin Yu said, stubbing out his cigarette and giving Li Chao a suggestion: "As the first student from Beijing Film Academy to be expelled, you're sure to become a sensation."
Li Chao was stunned for a moment before he realized what he meant. He slapped Lin Yu on the back angrily and said, "I could tell at a glance that you're not a simple guy. Your head is full of crooked ideas."
The slap wasn't hard, but Lin Yu still rubbed it. "Isn't this what you wanted it to be like? Not only should your fame be like this, but your lower body should be too. Don't worry about whether it's crooked or not, just tell me whether the goal has been achieved or not."
Hearing Lin Yu tease Li Chao, the other two grinned and laughed. Wang Yanyang laughed the loudest, slapping his thigh and chuckling.
The four of them walked towards the roast duck restaurant, joking and bickering all the way. Along the way, Wang Yanyang kept stirring things up, insisting that Li Chao say whether or not they were going to Thailand.
Li Chao was so amused that he said he could sponsor a plane ticket for Wang Yanyang if she wanted to go.
Upon arriving at the roast duck restaurant, Lin Yu waved his hand and ordered two ducks along with some other dishes.
When the roast duck is served, the duck carver performs a live demonstration, his knife skills are nimble, the thin duck skin with a little bit of meat is neatly arranged on the plate, it looks very appetizing.
Wang Yanyang was right; he devoured quite a few pieces by himself, leaving the other three dumbfounded. "I told you, you don't understand the appetite of Northeasterners," he said, as he rolled up another pancake and stuffed it into his mouth.
The four young men ate until they were stuffed, then ordered several bottles of Yanjing beer, chatting as they drank. They talked about everything from the college entrance exam to the art exam, from their hometowns to Yanjing, their conversation venturing further and further afield.
When we finally settled the bill, it came to a little over 300 yuan, which wasn't too expensive.
"Brother Lin is so generous!" Wang Yanyang said, holding up a bottle of wine. "If you ever need anything in the future, just let us know, and we brothers will definitely do our best to help."
"Alright, alright, stop with the formalities," Lin Yu waved his hand. "We're roommates, and we'll be spending a lot of time together in the future."
After resting for a while, the four of them strolled back to the school. There were fewer people at the gate than when they came out. After all, the most famous people this year had already arrived, and some media outlets had left, leaving only a few still waiting, hoping to try their luck and catch some more scoops.
Looking at the small entrance of the Beijing Film Academy, with the words "Yanjing Film Academy" shining brightly in the sunlight, Lin Yu couldn't help but feel a sense of emotion.
"Beijing Film Academy, a new beginning!" he murmured to himself.
-----------------
"Welcome to No. 4 Xitucheng Road. This is not the end, but the starting point of a career for Chinese filmmakers."
Principal Zhang delivered his speech with great passion while holding his prepared remarks on the stage.
Lin Yu, wearing the school uniform issued by the school, sat below the podium, half-asleep. The uniform was of good quality, but the style was a bit outdated, not as fashionable as it was when he was in high school.
To be honest, Lin Yu felt that he slept quite well yesterday, but as soon as the leader started speaking, he couldn't help but feel sleepy.
The only thing that could cheer him up was Gulnazar sitting in front of him.
Unfortunately, from his current perspective, all that can be seen is the back of his head with his hair tied in a ponytail, and occasionally, when he turns his head to the side, one can catch a glimpse of his profile. His features are truly three-dimensional, and the lines of his profile are so smooth and natural.
I wonder if she's started dating yet. This girl's love-obsessed nature is incurable; she's only met scumbags along the way.
If it weren't for her stunning looks, she would have disappeared from the entertainment industry long ago.
To combat his drowsiness, Lin Yu gradually began to let his mind wander. He started to think about his script, what kind of cinematic language to use, and how to direct the actors.
As he was thinking, he suddenly heard enthusiastic applause around him. Only then did he realize that the principal's speech had ended, and he clapped along a beat late.
After the principal finished speaking, it was time for the teacher representatives. Lin Yu looked at Wang Jinsong walking to the podium and found that he was quite different from the person he remembered.
When he filmed that movie, he still had hair in the middle of his head, but now he has a standard Mediterranean hairstyle.
The spotlights in the auditorium shone obliquely on his head, the reflection almost blinding. Lin Yu couldn't help but squint.
Watching Dean Wang on stage reading his prepared text with such dramatic intonation, I had a feeling he was about to pull his rubber band off himself any second.
I touched my waistband with some unease, and then, thankfully, I felt relieved; I was wearing a belt today.
The leader's speech was always boring, so Lin Yu's eyes started to scan around again, looking for any familiar faces.
Tsk, he's sitting too far back; all I can see is the back of his head. It's going to be too difficult for him to recognize people by the back of their heads.
Why is the little yellow duck's spot empty? Oh, she's this year's freshman representative and she's going to give a speech.
Why am I so focused on the little yellow duck? Lin Yu wondered to himself. No way! A smaller one is acceptable, but one that's concave is absolutely unacceptable! He shook his head, banishing these random thoughts from his mind.
The little yellow duck on stage spoke quite well, with a clear and crisp voice, articulate pronunciation, and gestures. It was obvious that she had prepared in advance, unlike some people who get so nervous on stage that they stutter.
After a series of tedious and boring speeches from various people, the ceremony finally came to an end.
Lin Yu let out a long sigh and prepared to return to his dormitory with his head down. He had already chosen a film and was ready to start writing the script. Time was tight and the task was heavy, so he couldn't waste any more time.
As they were walking forward, Wang Yanyang grabbed them, saying, "Why are you running? We still need to take a picture together."
Lin Yu then realized that her classmates weren't in a hurry to leave; they were all standing at the auditorium entrance, ready to take photos. Some were adjusting their clothes, some were touching up their makeup, and others were discussing their positions.
Looking at the little yellow duck surrounded by its classmates in the very center, these classmates haven't even entered the entertainment industry yet, but they've already started to have a sense of being in the center position.
It took quite a while to get into position. Lin Yu stood in the back row, flashing a fairly standard smile, and finished taking the photo.
After taking the photos, the homeroom teacher, Ms. Wang Chunzi, called everyone back and reminded them to be in the classroom on time the next morning to prepare for the orientation training.
Ms. Wang is a female teacher in her forties with a gentle voice. When she was 8 years old, the movie she starred in won the Golden Rooster Award for Best Children's Film.
After watching his classmates disperse, Lin Yu followed his roommate back to the dormitory. Wang Yanyang was still excitedly discussing the photo incident, saying that he hadn't stood in a good position and that he would definitely squeeze forward next time.
Before he could take two steps, Lin Yu was stopped again.
Looking at the person in front of him, he felt that something was wrong.
