Chapter 81: Entering the Beginning of the Novel
Chapter 81: Entering the Beginning of the Novel
[???'s POV]
"Are you sure about this?" my wife asked me.
"Never been more sure about anything in my life before," I answered.
She was worried about me but I needed her to know that her worry was futile.
It didn't matter what happened to me on this mission. As long as I did what needed to be done, that was more than enough.
"How are you going to get past the headmistress's eyes? Ever since our king has announced his return, she's been extremely paranoid about everything that enters and exits her academy."
"Don't worry about that. She should be preoccupied with a little gift I had prepared for her. That'll give me plenty of time to infiltrate and kill a few students."
I don't know why my king wants me to put my life on the line just to kill some weaklings when my talents could be used elsewhere but as a loyal subject, I do not question nor doubt his judgement.
Whatever he's planning, I know that it'll result in the victory of our realm. I just need to do my part... even if it means I die. All of it will be for the greater good.
The previous attempts had resulted in our loss but that was because the demon king had relied on nothing but our number and his naturally gifted strength.
This time around, he has not only trained himself but also hired a strategist for the upcoming war.
"Daddy, do you have a clue who you're going to aim to kill yet? Or will it be random?" asked my son who had been listening in on our conversation.
Unlike my wife who knew the danger of the task that I was given, my son only knows the human as these weak creatures that can be squashed with one pinky.
I couldn't bear to tell him that I was heading towards my death.
I only hope that when I'm gone, the anger and pain he feels will make him stronger and that one day — he'll get revenge in my name.
"I have a certain person that I want to kill. According to your uncle, he's been making a name for himself in the human realm. What was his name again?" I asked my wife, snapping my fingers as his name was on the tip of my tongue. "He's... uhm, the son of that extremely powerful lightning user."
"Are you talking about that Bell Agnus boy?"
"Yes! Him. Bell... Bell Agnus. Out of all the students, his death should be worth the most."
If I manage to kill a future hero of the human race before he enters his prime, that should be one useful pawn removed from the chessboard.
I hope this satisfies you, my king.

[Bell's POV]
New semester.
I've already registered my classes for the second semester to perfectly align with every class that the main character was taking except for two which never mattered in the story.
Most of the terrible events that occurred during the main character's time at the academy always occurred where he was. Being in the same classes and courses as him would make my job a thousand times easier.
I knew I shouldn't have let Quentin roll me that much.
I was feeling extremely sore so I grabbed a recovery potion from my drawer and chugged it.
Over the past few months with Quentin, I have learned parts two and three of his five-part training regime.
Part two was about parrying, countering, and the use of footwork to attack and defend.
Part three was more focused on a single weapon which was the sword. He taught me the art of drawing the blade and well as using the sheath as a secondary weapon.
Part four was the step that I was currently on and it was all about using my sixth sense to see my surroundings rather than my eye itself.
I was barely ten percent of the way to mastering it and without Quentin's skill that allowed me to practice in the dreamworld, I reckoned it'd be a few years before I mastered the skill.
Thankfully, contrary to what Quentin had told me before about no longer training me once school resumes, he was willing to train me at the dojo he'd opened up a month ago.
That's one positive that came from him losing his arm.
There weren't that many students because he was very picky about who got accepted.
Right now, I could confidently state that I had mastered the very basics of all the weapons that he had taught me which included the battle axe, mace, bow, halberd, daggers, whip, shield, tomahawks, and the one that I was most talented in, the spear.
My bedroom door opened and it was Eloise.
She saw me sitting on my bed and immediately frowned.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Brother, I was going to wake you up," she said as she ran over to me.
I picked her up and apologized, "Sorry about that Ellie. Would you like me to go back to sleep so that you can wake me up?
She shook her head and said, "It's too late."
So freaking adorable.
I would've pinched her round cheeks right then and there but I didn't want to ruin her mood even further.
Ever since she'd been with us, it felt like she was becoming more and more like a human. She showed more emotions, especially negative ones.
Most of that could be attributed to Rubi who was by her side almost every second the two of them were awake.
"What about your sister? Is she still asleep?" I asked.
Eloise nodded her head.
"How about the two of us go and wake her up together? How does that sound?"
With an adorable smile on her face, she nodded and without even brushing my teeth yet, I headed over to the sisters' shared bedroom.
I placed her back on the floor and she ran over to Rubi's bed. Eloise leaped into the air and landed on Rubi's body.
The impact was reduced by the blanket and Eloise was extremely light because she was an angel so it's not like Rubi was hurt in any way.
However, she could still feel it and with a soft groan, she opened her eyes and saw her sister lying on top of her.
"Morning," Eloise greeted her sister with a smile that revealed her perfectly white teeth. Almost too white that they looked like veneers.
"Morning. Can you get off me now, Ellie?" said Rubi.
She pushed Eloise off the bed and sat up, yawning which caused me to yawn.
"Brother," she said as she raised her arms, gesturing for me to pick her up.
"Yes yes."
I picked her up and obviously, Eloise would also want in.
With both of them in my arms, I carried them over to the bathroom where their toothbrushes were.
As an angel, it was impossible for Eloise to get dirty so she didn't need a shower or to brush her teeth but because Mother wanted her to feel included with the rest of us, she was made to do it regardless.
After they washed their teeth, their tongue, and their faces, I set them loose and they ran down to the living room to watch the newest episode of their favorite show that aired in the morning.
Receiving a phone call in the middle of a shower, I quickly dried my hands to answer it.
"Yellow?" I said as I used my spare hand to rub soap all over my body.
"Good morning dummy. Ready for school?" asked Diana.
"Yes ma'am."
"Why won't you tell me what classes you're taking? Do you hate me so much that you don't want me to copy them?" she asked, annoyed at me.
Yes, over the last couple of months, the two of us had gotten closer because of certain — circumstances.
I didn't tell her about my classes because I didn't want my decision to influence hers.
Her schedule needed to remain the same as it was in the novel so that certain events that needed to happen to her would happen.
"Yes Diana, I hate you so much that I would rather swallow a watermelon in one gulp than let you know my classes," I joked.
"Whatever. Are you going to pick me up or should I go on the bus?" she asked.
"Have I ever broken a promise before? If I say I'm going to pick you up, I'll pick you up."
"If you break the promise, you know that your mother's back will break, right?"
"Please don't curse my mother like that. She's a very sweet lady."
"Hahaha. Are you taking a shower right now?" she asked.
"...H-how do you know that? D-do you... do you have cameras in my bathroom? Listen, Diana, I'm flattered but I think—"
"No, you dummy. I hear the sound of your shower running water," she chuckled.
The conversation went on for a few more minutes before she had to hang up because she needed to wake up her siblings and prepare them for school.
"Alright. See you soon."
"Yep. Bye."
"Bye."
I got out of the shower, dried up, then looked at my reflection in the mirror.
My hair had gotten quite long over the break and I honestly needed a haircut but had been too busy getting rolled by Quentin to find the time.
Taking a razor, the least I could do was clean up the mess that was my facial hair.
Diana, Rubi, and even the sweet Eloise had been complaining about how ugly it was.
Might as well get rid of it now.
After washing away the pieces of hair and the remaining shaving foam, I checked out various angles and then nodded.
"That's better."
Heading downstairs, I was greeted by a dining table full of pancakes, bacon, fried eggs, and a glass of apple juice.
I preferred orange juice but I couldn't complain when Mother had spent her time cooking up breakfast for me.
One of these days, I need to convince her to just hire a family chef so that she no longer has to spend her time cooking.
Grateful for the breakfast, I kissed her on the cheek before digging into the food.
Contrary to last semester when I returned, there was no concern on my mother's face.
There was no stress or worry about my safety.
The only emotions she showed were happiness and excitement for what the new semester had in store for her youngest son.
"Remember Bell, if anyone dares mess with you, just beat them up and I'll help you deal with it later," she said with a wink.
"Will do Mom."
"Bye bye Brother," said Eloise who was waving at me, sending me off at the front door.
"Bye Brother!" yelled Rubi who was too engrossed in her show to leave her seat for even a second.
If I wasn't aware of what was in store for me, I'd think that today was going to be a peaceful day.
I chuckled to myself and entered the back of the car.
Jerman was already in the driver's seat. He had grown an extra inch since I initially met him and although I didn't know when he found the time to train when he was by my side almost all the time he was stronger than before.
He even acquired a new scar that ran down his left eye.
Where he had gotten it?
I had no clue.
"Where to, young master?" he asked me.
"Pick up Diana first then send us to the academy."
