Hold On Mr.! Your Sweetheart is a Real Queen

Chapter 814: I Never Expected to Marry Him

Chapter 814: I Never Expected to Marry Him

"He was never mine to begin with." Charlotte said calmly, "There was no connection between you and me. If you hadn’t come to find me, your marrying him would have nothing to do with me."

Charlotte’s words left Janet Madison dumbfounded; she never expected her to say that.

"Then, then why did you decide to have the baby?" Janet questioned hoarsely, not believing her. "Aren’t you trying to secretly have his child to marry him?"

With Robert Stephens’ status, many women around the world wanted to marry him. As long as she had his child, given Charlotte’s status, she would surely become the young mistress of the Stephens family.

Charlotte was silent for a few seconds; her expression briefly appeared lost, then she gently shook her head and replied, "I never expected to marry him."

Janet’s eyes widened slightly as she looked at Charlotte’s face, seemingly struck by her words, unwilling to accept it as she muttered, "No, I don’t believe...you..."

Charlotte fell silent, ignoring Janet’s emotional outburst, and told her, "I’ll hold onto your phone for a few days. We’ll be staying here for a while, so let’s get along."

With that, she took the dishes and left the room.

*

Janet had come alone, but she was about to get engaged to Robert Stephens. If the fiancée went missing during the engagement period, the Stephens family and the Madison family wouldn’t just let that go.

Or perhaps, it would be easier to just kill her.

Charlotte lowered her eyes, looking at Janet’s phone, and took a deep, calming breath.

She needed to muster all her strength to suppress her murderous intent, to avoid losing her mind and doing something she shouldn’t.

...

Janet’s mother had intermittently called a few times over the past week.

Perhaps, as a mother’s intuition, she sensed something was off with her daughter’s condition, but she had been fended off with various excuses.

After all, Janet was young. The wound on her wrist, from a knife cut, had scabbed over within a week, and Charlotte applied medicine to it daily; the scar was not very noticeable.

Whatever she ate, Janet ate too, and possibly due to a lack of exercise, Janet had even gained a bit of weight.

About this, Janet seemed a bit ashamed.

The locals were notoriously tough. Aside from necessary shopping trips, Charlotte rarely went out. Inevitably, the two talked in the room. After the initial shock, Janet surprisingly began to adapt to her captive life, occasionally pulling Charlotte into idle chatter.

Charlotte didn’t know what Janet was thinking, only feeling the woman was somewhat irrational; perhaps she really didn’t know Charlotte once harbored thoughts of killing her.

But her hands had remained clean in this life, and she didn’t want to be tainted with another’s life.

That’s why she abandoned the thought of killing her to settle everything once and for all.

"Charlotte, your cooking seems to have improved quite a bit."

That midday, while eating the steak Charlotte had grilled, Janet even praised her.

Lacking appetite, Charlotte, who couldn’t eat much, gave her portion of the steak to Janet.

Janet, looking hungry but hesitant to eat, coughed lightly. "That wouldn’t be proper."

"If you like it, go ahead and eat," Charlotte said softly. "I can’t eat anymore."

Janet didn’t hold back, finishing her meal and licking her fingers, before studying Charlotte’s face with curiosity, "What’s wrong with you? Are you feeling unwell?"
