Chapter 798: Incomplete development
Chapter 798: Incomplete development
Charlotte’s rented apartment only has one bedroom and a living room, but it does have a small balcony with pretty good lighting. At the moment, sunlight fills the entire wooden gray floor, making it look quite cozy.
Nicholas said to her, "If you need anything, just give me a call."
"..." Charlotte said speechlessly, "Just leave already."
Don’t make it sound like she’s actually going on vacation!
Nicholas gave her a smile, very amicably leaving.
Charlotte stood alone in the empty bedroom, feeling quite overwhelmed.
What the heck, she seriously wants to move out and live independently, okay?

The diamond ring on her ring finger indeed sparked the landlady’s curiosity.
"So you’re engaged already?" The landlady saw her wearing a ring today and sounded a little surprised. "Isn’t that diamond ring expensive?"
Charlotte only then realized she had forgotten to remove the ring Robert Stephens had given her. She hurriedly said, "It’s not expensive, bought fake diamonds from a discount store, just for fun."
The landlady smiled at her, "I saw you wearing it on your ring finger, thought you were engaged."
Yeah... wearing a ring on the ring finger typically means engagement.
Robert might not care about these things, casually buying her a ring as a gift, but other people seeing it wouldn’t have such simple thoughts.
Charlotte secretly took off the ring, tried wearing it on other fingers but it didn’t fit as snugly.
She sighed lightly and tucked the ring into her pocket.
She wouldn’t mistakenly assume that Robert giving her a diamond ring meant anything significant, but it definitely did make her... secretly happy.
That man...
He was the most beautiful dream of her youth, even though she woke from it later, she couldn’t forget how he once gently said he wanted to marry her.
She remembers how well he treated her, although she understands it was just his fondness for a little pet.
At night, it was another late shift.
Close to twelve o’clock, off work after standing all day, her back aching, she bought a pack of instant noodles at the supermarket and biked home.
Just when she was about to push the door open, Charlotte paused.
She looked down, her eyes opening wide.
Warm orange light seeped from the gap under the closed door.
Someone was in her house!
Charlotte suddenly pushed the door open, holding her breath as she looked inside, finding a man lying on her lazy couch, reading.
She looked incredulously at Robert Stephens lounging there in gray home wear, with legs crossed, holding a book, appearing as if he owned the place.
"Why are you only coming back now?"
The man heard the door open, put down the book and looked up, seeing the instant noodles in her hand, his handsome face showed displeasure.
"What is that thing in your hand?"
Charlotte: "Why are you here?"
Robert: "I got off work."
"..." Off work means you can come here?
The man stood up from the lazy couch, strolled over to her, threw a glance at the instant noodles in her hand, then reached out and tossed it in the trash right in front of her.
"You’re already not fully developed, if you keep eating this stuff, I suggest you forget about development."
His gaze swept over her flat chest, his tone filled with disdain.
Charlotte’s chest tightened, instinctively covering her neckline, flustered and enraged: "Where are you looking!"
