Chapter 573: Don’t make me wait too long, okay?
Chapter 573: Don’t make me wait too long, okay?
Daisy Ginger listened in confusion to everything Ryan Smith was saying.
Her pale face gradually lost all its color because of his words.
The chaotic thoughts slowly pieced together the past and present changes of Edward Stephens. She remembered him looking deeply at her, somewhat helplessly saying to her——"Daisy, you will never know what I have sacrificed for you."
Why didn’t he want to tell her?
Did he feel it was meaningless to say it?
She trembled as she lowered her head, burying her face in her knees, her thin shoulders shaking helplessly.
She knew why Ryan Smith chose to tell her at this moment.
Because if he didn’t say it now, there might not be a chance later...
"It’s good that you’re all okay." Ryan stood up, his voice sounded different than usual, more subdued, he glanced at Elena Raven and said, "The situation is urgent now, I can’t stay here for long. Once there’s news about Edward, I’ll call you."
Daisy looked up, her voice hoarse: "Ryan."
Ryan looked down at her.
"Whether it’s good news or bad, don’t hide it from me."
Her pitch-black eyes met Ryan’s gaze, he gave her one last deep look, answered with a word, then turned and left hurriedly.
Elena saw Ryan off, then returned, hugging Daisy’s frail body. She felt that Daisy was entirely cold, her very breath icy.

During the days when there was no word from Edward Stephens, Daisy also had a severe fever.
The fever came on so fiercely that she began to fall unconscious the next day.
Elena was terrified, called an ambulance, and rushed Daisy to the hospital for emergency treatment.
She wasn’t injured, nor was she ill, yet her fever wouldn’t subside no matter what.
After three days of treatment, during which Elena herself lost seven or eight pounds from worry, Daisy’s fever finally began to diminish.
Ryan received the news and came specifically to see Daisy in her hospital room.
He arrived downstairs at the hospital ward, and Elena went down to meet him.
In those days, Ryan had also lost a lot of weight. Dressed in a beige knitted sweater and jeans, he seemed less like a frivolous playboy, more settled.
Upon seeing Elena, he frowned slightly, studying her for a moment, then asked unhappily, "Why have you become so thin?"
Elena hadn’t slept well for days while taking care of Daisy, her throat was raspy: "Daisy is sick."
"You’re not the one who’s sick."
Elena pouted, "I can’t eat."
"Silly rabbit, why are you being so foolish?" Ryan chuckled, "Come on, after seeing Daisy, I’ll take you to have some grilled rabbit."
I’m not a rabbit. Elena whispered in her heart as Ryan took her by the arm and pulled her into the elevator.
"How is Daisy now?" Inside the elevator, Ryan stubbed out his cigarette and asked, looking down at her.
"She’s awake, still has a bit of fever, they can’t figure out what’s causing it."
"Too sad, I suppose." Ryan said flatly.
With a ding, the elevator reached the upper floor. Ryan walked out first, heading towards Daisy’s hospital room door.
As he pushed the door open, Daisy turned her head upon hearing the sound.
She was on an IV, her hair let loose, lacking luster. Her once delicate face was now so thin that only her cheeks carried a hint of flesh, looking pitiful and fragile like a porcelain doll.
If Edward Stephens were here, he would be heartbroken.
Ryan thought to himself as he walked over and said to Daisy, "Edward was sent back to Chicago today."
Daisy was momentarily stunned, instinctively asking, "Is he alright?"
"Tsing City’s medical level isn’t enough, he’s been transferred to a private hospital in the United States. I’m not clear on the specifics, I heard he’s still unconscious, but there shouldn’t be a threat to his life."
Daisy was silent for a moment, then finally some real color appeared in her face for the first time in days.
"I’m here to say goodbye to you." Ryan stood beside her, looking down, "Since he’s gone back, I have to leave too. If there’s any news, we’ll have to keep in touch by phone, I can’t come to tell you in person anymore."
In just a few sentences, there was a hint of sorrow in the air of farewell.
Daisy slowly nodded, "I’m alright here... as long as he’s alive, I’m at ease... he promised me he wouldn’t let me wait too long, I believe we’ll meet again soon..."
Ryan nodded, "Take good care of yourself."
"What about Emma Magus?" Daisy asked.
"Emma... didn’t make it." Ryan paused, a furrow forming between his sharp brows, "She was too severely injured, she died at the scene, the Magus family has taken her back for cremation."
Died at the scene...
Yes, with her crazed speed to crash into her, she was determined to perish together.
Daisy said, "I’m really not the one who uploaded those photos and videos."
Ryan chuckled, pulling a cigarette from his pocket and fiddling with it absent-mindedly: "Whether it was you or not, it no longer matters to her. As long as she believed it to be you, that was enough."
Daisy felt a bit indignant: "That person caused the deaths of so many people, will there really be no punishment?"
"There will be punishment." He didn’t know if he was comforting her, or if he truly believed it himself, "Just not now."
Not now, then when?
Hearing that Edward was out of immediate danger, the tension in her nerves relaxed, but her heart felt hollow.
She wished she could see him right now, to check how he was doing. Not being able to see him, she really couldn’t be at ease.
Daisy took a deep breath, feeling her nose start to sour again, she had become so fragile, every thought of that man made her want to cry.
"I’m taking Elena out for a meal." Ryan didn’t bother her further, "I have a flight this afternoon, sharing a parting meal isn’t too much, right?"
"Suit yourself." Daisy sniffled, "Besides, Elena doesn’t even like you."
That darn woman.
Ryan rolled his eyes in exasperation, "I really don’t know what Edward sees in you."
He grabbed Elena, pulling her away.
The ward quieted down.
Daisy lowered her head, took out her phone, and opened Edward Stephens’ WeChat.
She began typing again.
"Edward. Ryan came today, and he said you’re going back to Chicago."
"I’m glad to hear you’re not in any life-threatening danger."
"Heal well in Chicago, I’ll wait for you here in Tsing City to return."
"I kind of miss you."
"Don’t make me wait too long, okay?"
...
WeChat remained silent.
The conversation stopped three days ago.
She had sent him, "Wait for me to have dinner back home."
He had replied with an "ok" hand gesture.
Edward Stephens, I still owe you a dinner, you’ll surely come back to have dinner with me, won’t you? You certainly won’t keep me waiting here in Tsing City too long, will you?
You said you weren’t him, and I never considered you as him, I always knew you were two different people.
You certainly won’t be like him...
and make me wait too long for you.
