Hold On Mr.! Your Sweetheart is a Real Queen

Chapter 527: Old man

Chapter 527: Old man

Emma Magus hung up the phone, still in a daze.

She hadn’t expected Robert Stephens to be completely different from what she had imagined.

He turned out to be such an elegant and gentle yet reliable man!

With his help, she wouldn’t need to apologize to Daisy Ginger.

To be honest, the thought of having to swallow her pride, put on a brave face, and carefully ask Daisy for forgiveness, humbling herself before her, was something she truly couldn’t accept!

She really disliked Daisy, couldn’t even look up to her, a married woman still flirting around with Edward Stephens, absolutely shameless!

Emma wiped her tears and, seeing her red and swollen eyes and pale cheeks in the mirror, remembered that Thomas Woods was coming to pick her up soon, and quickly went to wash her face in the bathroom.

She quickly put on light makeup, then changed into a dress, waiting in the hotel for Thomas to come and pick her up.

Half an hour later, her phone rang, and she hurried to answer it, hearing the elderly man’s kindly voice: "Miss Magus, I’m right outside the hotel entrance now."

"I’ll be right down!"

Emma grabbed her bag, opened the door excitedly, and headed towards the elevator.

If she’d known Robert Stephens was so easy to talk to, she would have called him first! That useless idiot Ryan Smith had wasted so much of her time, causing her career to stagnate... She must ensure Robert Stephens persuades Edward Stephens not to blacklist her anymore. After all these years of friendship, to be at odds over someone like Daisy Ginger is just not worth it...

Emma opened the car door and got in, sounding somewhat excited: "Uncle Wood, will Brother Stephens really help me?"

Thomas glanced at her youthful face in the rear-view mirror, then withdrew his gaze, showcasing an unreadable expression: "Sir has always been very concerned with all matters regarding the younger Mr. Stephens."

Emma seemed to consider something, and this response made her smile in satisfaction. Her brows relaxed, and she appeared entirely at ease.

Given how much Robert Stephens cares for Edward, and since she’s a good friend of Edward’s, surely he wouldn’t stand idly by watching her and Edward remain in conflict.

Thomas witnessed the relaxed smile on her face and slowly looked away, as the car smoothly drove forward.

Over twenty minutes later, Emma followed Thomas into the apartment where Robert Stephens was currently staying.

The apartment followed a hotel-style design, with very cozy decorations. When Emma walked in, she heard the rather sharp sound of a child’s voice arguing.

"No! I’m going out to play tomorrow! If you keep locking me up, I’ll never speak to you again!"

"I hate you, you old man!"

"Old man! Old man! Old man!"

...

Emma remembered that it should be Edward Stephens’ son, who was always left in Robert Stephens’ care.

Hearing him rudely berate Robert made her opinion of this child drop even further.

"Miss Magus, please follow me," Thomas smiled and gestured for her to proceed, "Sir is in the study."

"Oh. Okay." Emma snapped out of her thoughts and followed Thomas inside.

The room had the central air conditioning on, and it seemed even warmer inside than the outside air. Although summer had arrived, it was still stiflingly hot, and yet the heating was on.

"Bang!" A loud door-slamming sound emerged from not far away, followed by the sound of footsteps running over—it was that child.

The young boy stopped in his tracks and glanced at her with those pitch-black eyes, causing Emma to shiver slightly. She didn’t know why, but there was something about those eyes that unsettled her.
