Chapter 473: Unwilling
Chapter 473: Unwilling
Edward Stephens wasn’t sure if he hadn’t been sleeping well these past few days.
Although he said he’d sleep for half an hour and leave as soon as Ryan Smith brought the car keys, Daisy Ginger sat by the bed for over half an hour without seeing any sign of him waking up and quietly opened the door to find Elena Raven.
Elena had an afternoon scene and was currently rehearsing her lines in the room. When she saw Daisy come in, she curiously asked, "Daisy, where did you run off to?"
"I have to go back to the city later," Daisy walked over to her and said, "I probably won’t be back for a few days. With you and the assistant here, if anything special happens, remember to call me."
Elena obediently nodded, "Got it."
Daisy looked at her and asked, "Is Ryan still pestering you?"
"Ryan?" Elena blinked, "He’s been having meals with me and taking me back for these past few days."
Daisy frowned. As expected, the moment she wasn’t around, that guy started getting restless!
"Don’t get too close to that guy." Daisy had no good impression of Ryan, "He’s no good. Don’t let him mess with you."
Emma Magus said Ryan was playing with her, and Daisy said the same. Indeed, Ryan was just playing with her!
Elena kept it in mind and nodded, "Got it!"
"Good girl." Daisy patted her face, checked the time, and planned to wake Edward Stephens up.
Little did she know that these few words would cause such a negative impact on Ryan’s future pursuit of a wife.

When Daisy returned to Edward Stephens’ room, the man was already awake.
He was sitting on the bed, still covered with a blanket, frowning slightly, and his face looked a bit irritable.
Daisy walked in and greeted him, "You’re awake?"
The man sitting on the bed slowly lifted his head. Upon seeing her, he seemed slightly taken aback, and the anger in his brows dissipated somewhat. His voice was hoarse as he asked, "Where did you go?"
"I went back to the dormitory for a moment." Daisy showed him the car key she got from Ryan, "I waited over half an hour for you to wake up, but you didn’t, so I went to tell Elena I’d be heading back to Tsing City in the afternoon."
"..." Edward uttered an ’oh’, rubbed his eyes, and his face returned to normal, as if nothing had happened, as he got out of bed, "I’m going to take a shower."
"Mm-hmm, you go ahead."
Daisy watched his figure gradually disappear towards the bathroom before finally letting out a breath of relief.
Just look at how dark his face was, it could scare someone to death!

At noon, after filming finished, Emma Magus went to have dinner in the cafeteria with Ryan Smith.
Seeing that Edward Stephens wasn’t there, she worriedly asked, "Brother Ryan, isn’t Brother Edward having lunch? His cold is so bad, if he doesn’t eat, he won’t be able to handle it."
Ryan was watching the movements of the little bunny in the crowd and casually replied, "Edward went back to the city."
"Went back? Why didn’t he tell me?"
"Daisy took him back." Ryan saw the lone little bunny walking through the crowd, lit up with excitement, and was about to approach but was pulled back by Emma.
"Went back with Daisy?"
Emma’s voice was somewhat loud, causing the surrounding people to turn their heads. Ryan snapped back to reality, glanced at Emma, and frowned slightly, lowering his voice, "Watch your image!"
Emma was fuming and didn’t care about her image anymore, "Isn’t Daisy married? Does Brother Edward not mind?"
Seeing her eyes turning red, unable to manage her expression, Ryan sighed lightly, set the little bunny aside for now, and pulled her to a corner.
"Brother Ryan, say something. Isn’t Daisy already married? I heard she even had a baby! Does Edward not care? That woman used to toy with him too. Don’t you hate her as much as I do?"
In the corner, Emma dropped her propriety, grabbing Ryan’s arm and firing off her questions.
"You’re asking me, who should I ask?" Ryan was less agitated than her, "If he wants to play with a married woman, I can’t stop him."
"You!" Emma knew he was unsteady, glared at him, released his arm, and pressed her lips together in anger.
Ryan squatted, grabbing a stalk of foxtail grass to play with, his tone calm, "Emma, just give up. Edward doesn’t even fancy Charlotte; why would he fancy you? Finish this film, then go back to the UK and build your career. I’ll give you another five billion in funding to back you as the Berlin Film Queen and let you shine, okay?"
"..." Emma glanced at him, "Will you marry me?"
Ryan raised his hands in surrender, grass in his mouth, "Spare me... You know I’m against marriage."
Emma pursed her lips, her expression filled with bitterness.
The families orbiting the Stephens weren’t just Ryan’s and Emma’s. When choosing companions, Charlotte Smith was picked by Robert Stephens, becoming the most favored woman around him. How many families’ eyes turned red with jealousy over the prospective Mrs. Stephens?
After learning that the Stephens had two boys, many family elders tried various means to ensure their daughters were pregnant, even resorting to artificial insemination in some cases. Emma was one of them.
Unfortunately, Robert didn’t choose her, and Edward didn’t have inheritance rights, so as he grew up, he could only assist Robert in managing the company.
Until that year, Robert was in a car accident, left disabled, lost his inheritance rights, and Edward, who had been overshadowed by Robert, finally had his moment of glory—yet, his companion still wasn’t her.
Charlotte Smith became the one to care for Edward.
Later, Edward was diagnosed with a genetic family disease and exiled by the Stephens’ elders, resulting in her losing contact with him too.
Afterward, she heard Edward had recovered and gotten married, so she gave up on the idea.
But now, Edward was divorced, and he had no suitable women around. Wasn’t it her best chance to step up?
Yet, despite being divorced from Edward for four years, Daisy reappeared.
Clearly married, yet still flirting in front of Edward...
Emma kicked a small stone on the ground and angrily walked away with her skirt held high.
Ryan watched her departing figure, somewhat tongue-tied.
He really couldn’t stand women with such strong personalities. Simple little bunnies were far cuter.
Thinking of Elena, Ryan immediately perked up, eagerly ready to flirt with the little bunny.

At that moment, Daisy was in the hospital accompanying Edward Stephens, who was getting an IV.
The man leaned back on the chair, a needle in his delicate hand, as the medicine dripped into his vein. His body temperature was very low, and even the skin on his face seemed paler than when he’d arrived, contrasting against his jet-black lashes and deep-set eyes.
