Chapter 388 - 415: "You won’t hurt him, will you?

She reached out and took the cup of tea that Charlotte Smith had left before she left.

The once warm tea had cooled, bringing a slight chill to her hands as she held it.

She lowered her head and took a sip, a faint fragrance lingering between her lips and teeth.

The tea was good, but drinking it in front of this man made it tasteless.

Steadying her mind, Daisy Ginger calmed herself and asked lightly, "Since you don’t want me to stay in the Stephens family, what did you want to talk to me about today?"

"Do you actually want to stay here?" The man countered, with a half-smile, "You’ve caused quite a lot of trouble in our family, making Edward spend a lot of effort to settle things for you."

Daisy lowered her eyes, focusing on the small celadon cup in her hand, and said softly, "Mr. Stephens, do you want me to refuse the marriage with Edward? Since you know me so well, you probably understand that I can’t really say anything on his side. If he decides to have the wedding, I can’t stop him."

She was speaking the truth.

No matter how kind and gentle Edward Stephens was to her right now, if he wanted to hold the wedding, she couldn’t seem to stop him if he didn’t agree to cancel it.

"Miss Ginger, you’re being too modest." Robert Stephens smirked slightly, looking at Daisy, "Given how infatuated he is with you at the moment, even if you asked him to give you half of the shares he holds, he probably wouldn’t even blink if it would make you happy."

Does Edward Stephens love her that much?

Daisy lowered her head, looking at the water in her cup, and remained silent.

As if to cover her mood, she slowly lifted her hand and took another sip of the cold tea before saying softly, "I want to leave. How do you want me to do it?"

"Aren’t you attached to this lifestyle?"

"Mr. Stephens," Daisy put down the teacup and couldn’t help but lift her head with a smile. She said, "Your family is indeed exceptionally wealthy, and I can’t compare to your family’s wealth and power, but money, when in such large amounts, doesn’t really make that much of a difference, does it?"

Even though she might be down and out, she was still the CEO of a billion-dollar company, and although she couldn’t compare to their thousands of billions, she didn’t feel that the disparity in living standards was enough to make her willingly stay in the Stephens family for life.

She had her own capabilities and didn’t want any more entanglements with the family that had ruined her own.

Robert Stephens studied her expression, seemingly satisfied, and leisurely played with the small celadon cup in his hand, speaking warmly, "Then prepare well for the wedding with Edward. Cheer him up in the coming days."

"..." Daisy was slightly stunned, frowning as she looked at him, "What do you mean?"

"Since we’re in agreement, you don’t need to worry about the rest of the matters. Just follow my requirements when the time comes, and I guarantee Edward will have a peaceful divorce with you."

His smile was calm and confident, powerful, as if everything was within his grasp, without any chance of surprise.

Daisy didn’t trust him and wasn’t taken in by his demeanor. She frowned, "What do you want me to do?"

"I only hope for you to divorce Edward." Robert Stephens smiled, slowly placing the teacup on the coffee table, looking at Daisy’s hesitant and heavy expression, and said lightly, "Don’t worry, as long as you behave, I won’t do anything to you. Do you really think I’m some kind of ruthless villain?"

"..." She saw that it was about time. Daisy lowered her head and thought for a while, then asked, "You won’t harm him, right?"

When she asked this question, her throat felt a bit dry, and her voice was hoarse.
