Chapter 387 - 414: I don’t want your blood to dirty my house

Daisy Ginger kept her head down but could still feel the man’s gaze on her.

He seemed to be smiling, yet not quite, laced with a certain indifferent chill, like a cold-blooded creature slowly gliding over its scales, making her fingertips go cold.

"Daisy, you are a smart woman," after a moment, as if deliberately giving her time to prepare mentally, he waited a minute before speaking again, "some things can be done, some things cannot, I shouldn’t have to explain that to you."

Daisy lifted her head, her gaze landing squarely on Robert Stephens’ face, and asked calmly, "Then what is it that I cannot do, Mr. Stephens, can you enlighten me?"

Robert leaned back on the sofa, with a hint of a gentle smile on his lips, yet his pitch-black eyes staring at her, deep and cold, being stared at by those eyes felt as if she was already as good as dead.

Daisy clenched her hands, refusing to show weakness.

"Daisy, you can’t outplay me." He suddenly snorted lightly, chuckling softly, "If it weren’t for Edward’s sake, you would’ve been dead eight hundred times over. I can’t bear for him to be saddened by your death; that’s the only reason I’ve kept you alive until now, do you understand?"

"Just like how you killed my mother?" Daisy asked bluntly.

Robert looked at her, a trace of amusement appearing in his eyes, and said softly, "—Isn’t it interesting?"

Daisy abruptly stood up, her expression cold, murderous intent already in her eyes.

The air suddenly became tense; unlike Daisy’s bristling hostility, the man’s demeanor remained leisurely. He leaned on the sofa, a blanket covering his knees, as composed and lazy as if he were sipping afternoon tea.

"You probably forgot that the United States doesn’t forbid guns." Robert calmly reminded, "Though I’d be glad if you hurried up and died, I don’t want your blood dirtying my house. Daisy, sit down, or I’ll turn you into a beehive the next second."

An inexplicable chill seeped in from all around, instinctively telling her that this room was unsafe.

She slowly sat down, her face pale, staring at Robert, gritting her teeth, "You will definitely get what’s coming to you."

"If something happens to me, you’ll probably not be around to see it." The man poured himself a glass of water, "You don’t need to hate me so much; I didn’t actually do anything. That woman already held a grudge against your mother... Besides, she’s the one who acted, isn’t it? The one who killed your mother is her, and she’s already faced her retribution, so you should be happy."

"..." Daisy didn’t say a word, just stared at him fiercely.

The man took a slow sip of water, looking at the intense emotions in Daisy’s eyes with some contempt, scoffing lightly, "Overestimating yourself."

The room fell into silence.

Who knows how long it was before Daisy finally forced herself to calm her near-breaking emotions.

She indeed...

Couldn’t do anything to him.

Ethan, Alice, even Emily...

This man had no regard for other people’s lives.

She had no doubt he would go after them.

She was too weak.

Even if the enemy was in front of her, she couldn’t strike them down.

She couldn’t even manage to escape.

In Robert Stephens’ hands, she couldn’t even protect her own life, let alone avenge Alice?

If it wasn’t for Edward liking her, she might have long ended up like Alice, inexplicably dead at someone’s hands.
