His Untold Lies

Chapter 47 I Didn't Mean To

Chapter 47 I Didn't Mean To

"Hey! You've been ignoring me for a while now. What's going on? Can you please pay attention?" Nate interjected. "I don't want to go back where I came from, or else Miaree will kill me. I was wrong the last time, and I apologize. I know I acted foolishly to avoid pressure from my parents to marry someone I didn't care about. I'm really sorry."

Kianna stopped and faced Nate, a hint of a smile on her face, indicating she was satisfied with his explanation. "Since you've acknowledged your mistakes and made an effort to make amends, I'll forgive you. But where's your car?"

"Are you serious? You walked all the way here, and now you're asking about my car?" Nate replied, catching his breath. "Let's go, it's over there."

They headed toward the parking lot. Once they were in the car together, Nate couldn't help but glance at Kianna. "What?" she asked.

"Are you still living in that residential neighborhood, like the last time I drove you home?" Nate inquired.

...I didn't realize he knew where I lived...

"Yeah," Kianna replied briefly.

During the drive, neither of them spoke, maintaining silence until they reached her neighborhood.

As they entered the subdivision, Kianna suddenly said, "You can drop me off here."

"But it's quite a distance from your place. Just stay seated, and I'll drop you off at your doorstep."

When they arrived, Nate kept the car running even though they had reached her house. Kianna swiftly exited the vehicle.

...

I'm home! Now I can relax. I wonder if Ares is waiting for me...

"Hey, why are you acting this way? Not even a thank you?" Nate yelled as Kianna made her way toward her house.

Kianna rolled her eyes, turned back to face her friend, and said, "Thanks for the ride. Need help with a loving goodbye?" she asked with a forced smile.

"Perfect. I'm out. Remember to gaze at me with those adoring eyes as I depart!" Nate teased, grinning at Kianna, who laughed as he drove away.

Kianna reached the doorstep and collided with someone. "Oops! Ares... I'm sorry, I'm late..."

Ares said to Kianna, "You look pretty happy with that guy," and he grabbed her wrist abruptly.

As soon as they were inside, Ares closed the door and pressed Kianna against the wall, his gaze intense. "Explain. Why were you spending time with that guy-"

"He just gave me a ride home, that's all!" Kianna tried to push Ares, but he blocked her hand.

"Tell me, why were you with him? He looked like Nathan Zac Ramirez, your supposed school crush."

"You started that rumor, and it's not true!"

"It doesn't seem like a rumor now, Kianna."

"Ares, let's stop this. Let's talk about it tomorrow. I have a class in the morning."

Ares chuckled, wearing a sly grin, and asked, "You do remember you have classes tomorrow, right? It seems like you've lost track of time. You arrived in another guy's car, and you seem to be in high spirits. Did you have a good time with him?"

Kianna summoned all her strength to try and move Ares out of her way. "If you want to discuss this matter, please do something constructive. I'm sorry for interrupting you, but I'm exhausted.

...Those troublemakers harassed me, pulled my hair, and tore my clothes, and somehow, he thinks it's because I had a great time with another guy. He doesn't trust me!

...

"Kianna, do you even know why I'm acting like this? - Do you have any idea why I'm behaving this way? I've been trying to reach you and have called you multiple times. Yet, it seems like you've silenced your phone. Where have you been? What have you been doing while I've been frantically searching for you? You're in a relationship with that man now, but is it possible that this claim is true? Are you actually having an affair with that guy while we're married? Ares was overwhelmed by his emotions, and all he wanted were the answers he sought.

"We got married by mutual consent and a legal contract. You have no right to judge my character. - But what about you?! Have you ever thought about how I felt when I saw you walk through the door last night, smelling of perfume and with lipstick smudged on your coat?

Ares squinted as he contemplated her words and what she meant by lipstick. But I..." Ares suddenly remembered the incident where his assistant had accidentally bumped into him. "Hon, I'm sorry, but you've got it all wrong. Why don't you ask me about it first? You don't even give me a chance to explain, and yet-"

"Explain?" What, you're going to give me some feeble excuses and deny that you cheated on me?

"That couldn't be further from the truth... Is that why, because that's why you're hanging out with that other guy? Are you trying to get back at me?!"

Kianna's ability to hold back her emotions crumbled, and she began to cry. "Hang around? It seems you see me as an easygoing woman-"

"Kianna, please don't think that way-" Ares attempted to approach Kianna, but she rebuffed his advances and ran away.

"Don't you dare touch me! Please, I beg you!" It's clear to me now. You see this as some kind of game, and all you expect from me is to play along, right? Get out of my way! Kianna shoved Ares aside and hurried toward the bedroom, her tears flowing uncontrollably.

"Kianna-" Ares followed her, but she quickly shut and locked the door behind her once she entered the room.

"Kianna, open the door. Please, let's talk this out. Kianna, I didn't mean for you to interpret it that way. Can we please discuss this before anything else? Ares knocked several times, but Kianna ignored all his attempts to get her attention. She rushed to the bed, letting out a scream as she did so.
