Chapter 35 Miaree Vs. Vera
Chapter 35 Miaree Vs. Vera
The following day, Kianna arranged to meet Miaree for lunch at a restaurant near the city. Since it was about a thirty-minute walk away, Kianna opted to take a taxi. As she stepped out of the taxi, a beggar approached her, asking for money.
"Excuse me, Miss. Can you spare some change?" the child inquired.
Kianna paused and replied, "How about some food? I'm heading to that restaurant. Would you like to join me? I'll buy you a meal."
"I can't... I don't want to disturb their lunch. I'm so dirty and smelly; they'll surely dislike me," the child said sadly.
Kianna looked at the boy with compassion and nodded. She reached for her wallet in her bag and said, "Alright, I'll give you some money instead, but promise me you'll use it to buy food, okay? Don't spend it on anything unnecessary."
The boy's face lit up with gratitude as Kianna handed him the money. "Thank you so much! I promise I'll use it to buy food!"
"Okay, make sure to get something to satisfy your hunger, and don't forget to share with a friend or family member."
---
Upon arriving at the restaurant, Kianna found Miaree already waiting for her inside.
"Sorry I'm late. Have you already placed an order?" Kianna inquired.
"No, I just got here. Come on, have a seat. I'm eager to hear what happened yesterday. You mentioned last night that you visited your dad's house, right?"
"Exactly. Alright, take a deep breath! Here's what went down..."
Kianna recounted the events of the previous day, sparing no detail, including Asteria's actions. While Kianna shared the story, Miaree appeared on the verge of exploding with anger. She listened attentively, her expression serious.
"Wow, that woman is something else! I can't believe how her mom managed to create a carbon copy of her. Oh my God! Asteria and her mom are utterly shameless! If I were there, I'd have torn into them! And why is your dad behaving that way? You're the eldest daughter, the original one! Yet, he sided with that woman! None of it makes sense!"
Kianna burst into laughter as she observed her friend's reaction. "I knew you'd react like that! I have faith that you could do it! I mean, I'd just stand there and watch while you tear them apart!"
"They've made fools of themselves. You know what? Let's not even mention those awful people! They'll just ruin our day!" Miaree suggested. "By the way, this restaurant belongs to my uncle's friend. I invited you here to try something delicious!"
"Oh, that explains why I've never seen this place before."
"That's right, they just opened last week... Ugh! I'm starving! I can't wait any longer!" Miaree complained as her stomach growled.
The two women entered the restaurant, drawing attention from other patrons due to their striking outfits. As Kianna and Miaree discussed their food choices, they failed to notice two women approaching them.
"What a coincidence! You dared to come here without a reservation. I'm afraid you won't be seated even if you wait here all day," one of them remarked.
Miaree and Kianna both turned their attention to the source of the voice, only to be infuriated by the sight of Vera and Asteria standing before them.
"Oh, hello Eunice! How unexpected to see you here... and you too, Asteria," Miaree said, emphasizing their names.
"Why do you keep calling me Eunice!"
Asteria halted Vera from confronting Miaree and attempted to keep her friend calm. "We have an available seat here. Which one of you would like to join us? Don't worry; it's on us!" Asteria offered.
"Oh, please, don't be delusional! Kia, did you catch that? I'm wondering where that unpleasant odor is coming from! It's like a decaying fish! Ugh, it's absolutely dreadful!" Miaree commented, covering her nose.
"No, it's not me!" Kianna responded.
"It must be emanating from you!" Vera retorted, laughing. However, her laughter was short-lived when Miaree suddenly stood up.
"Oh dear! Let me clarify, sweetie! I use eucalyptus body wash, Susanne Kaufmann oil bath, and Tom Ford Private Blend Oud Wood bar soap. Oh, and I almost forgot, Chanel Grand Extrait perfume. The combined cost of these items equals five months' worth of your family's income. Besides, the odor entered when the two of you arrived at this restaurant." Miaree interjected and pretended to sniff Vera, saying, "Yes, it's definitely coming from you!"
Suddenly, a tall man approached them just as Vera was about to confront Miaree.
"Oh, my noble missy! How could you come here without letting me know?!" the man exclaimed, his gaze fixed on Miaree.
"Uncle Mike! I decided not to bother you, but I've been waiting for quite a while now... We're famished!" Miaree responded, embracing her Uncle Mike, the restaurant's proprietor.
"No worries! I'll arrange a VIP room for you right away! By the way, are these two ladies your friends as well?" Uncle Mike inquired, gesturing toward Vera and Asteria.
Miaree squinted her eyes and directed a stern look at the two women. "No, uncle! I don't associate with these types of individuals. They've disrupted our mood, and now I've lost my appetite for lunch!"
"Is that so? Guards! Escort these two individuals outside! I suspect they're causing trouble for my dear missy!" Uncle Mike shouted, summoning two burly guards with well-proportioned, muscular physiques. The guards promptly removed Vera and Asteria from the restaurant. "Let's not pay them any mind! I'll treat you to a scrumptious meal! It's perfect timing as we've just added fresh seafood to our menu! It's going to be a feast!"
