Chapter 31 The Ex and The Husband
Chapter 31 The Ex and The Husband
KIA
The Ishii Residence
I am currently at Miaree's house, spending time together because it's Saturday, and I don't have any household chores to attend to. Ares left for work early and left breakfast and lunch money along with a note. He truly is a responsible husband. I thank my lucky stars that I met him.
"Marcy is always so busy... I wish he wouldn't run for the presidency in the next school year so that we could spend more time together," Miaree mumbled while reclining on the floor.
We're currently engaged in a painting session, working on a portrait of a girl. There are no other people around since her parents are away on a business trip to Japan. I've known Miaree longer than any of my other friends. Our friendship began when she joined our high school class as a new student. Initially, neither of us wanted to interact, but over time, we became close friends. The first time I approached Miaree, she rolled her eyes and expressed doubt about us getting along. To my surprise, by the end of the school year, we had become the closest of friends.
As we got to know each other better, we discovered our shared interests in music and clothing. After that, there was no stopping us. We spent all our time together, and our classmates even started noticing our bond. We visited each other's homes, helped with our studies, and made it a tradition to have lunch together every Sunday. We also watched cartoons and movies together.
"Kia, look at this!" she exclaimed, handing me her phone. "Nathan Zac Ramirez posted a denial regarding the dating rumors. He even apologized to all his fans for the misunderstanding. And today's news cycle is filled with other headlines. Finally, he's giving it a rest!"
I eagerly took the phone and read the post. "That's great. Now I won't have to explain anything to my husband."
"By the way, Kia, yesterday some reporters tried to bother you, but your ex-fiance stepped in to help you get rid of them. Although he's a bit dim, he seems to have finally come to his senses and did the right thing," Miaree added.
"Really? Well, that's good for him. Maybe I'll consider forgiving him if he continues doing the right thing and stops pursuing me. I'm already married, and I have no intention of going back to him. As if! Anyway, how's that guy you were telling me about, the one you met online?" I changed the subject.
"Next question, I don't want to talk about it."
"Why not? Did he ghost you?" I asked, curious. She didn't respond, pretending to read something on her phone. "Oh my, he did!" I exclaimed and burst into laughter.
Miaree mumbled, "You're such a terrible friend. Even though you have a handsome husband, you're already teasing me like this, and I'm already heartbroken." She pretended to cry, but I didn't stop teasing her until I was satisfied.
Yes, I know! I'm such a great friend!

After spending nearly two hours at the Ishii residence, Kianna decided to head home as Ares had texted her that he wouldn't have much work today. They had planned to meet at the mall, which was conveniently close to Kia's location. When she left the Ishii residence, she chose to walk since the mall was within walking distance. Upon arrival, she found that Ares hadn't arrived yet, so she opted to wait in the shade of a tree, given the hot weather.
She took out her phone and attempted to call Ares, but he didn't answer. Several minutes passed, and it had been nearly ten minutes since Ares was supposed to meet her. Kianna was about to call again when someone tapped her on the back. She turned around with a pout on her lips, ready to express her annoyance to Ares for making her wait. However, she soon realized that the person behind her wasn't Ares. Her expression turned serious.
"What do you want, Vince?" Kianna asked, her tone serious.
"Hey, calm down. I didn't follow you here. I just saw you standing alone, so I decided to approach you-"
"Okay, so?"
"Maybe you wanted a ride? I can take you home if you want..."
"No, thank you," Kianna promptly declined Vincent. However, Vincent suddenly grabbed her hand.
"But I helped you with the reporters yesterday. Didn't you appreciate what I did for you?"
"I did appreciate it, and I want to thank you for that. But please, Vince, have some self-respect. I'm already married. It's impossible for us. Let me make it clear-I will never, ever, get back with you, even if you leave Asteria. We are finished. Just accept it and move on."
Kianna winced as Vincent's grip on her hand tightened. Despite her repeated attempts to free herself, he refused to let go. "I know, but Kia... I've changed, and you can divorce him even though you're married! I don't mind. Please, let's talk about it. How about a meal today?"
"Let go of me! What's wrong with you, Vince?"
He inched closer, making Kianna shudder in fear. "I'll do anything to make you come back to me, Kianna."
"No! I don't want to be with you anymore! I won't be with a cheater like you!" Kianna shouted.
"I've truly changed. How will you know if you don't give us another chance-"
"Are you insane? Get off me!"
"Let her go!" Vincent was being pushed away by Kianna when suddenly a man intervened, pulling her away. The next thing she knew, Vincent had fallen to the ground.
"Ares?" Kianna said.
Vincent quickly got up and confronted the person who had intervened, still feeling the pain from the fall. "Huh? Where did this superhero come from? Hey, mind your own business! She's my fiancée!"
"Pfft-I'm her husband," Ares responded with a cold stare. "You're finished if you ever harass my wife again!"

A storm rages across his face, his brows like thunderclouds. His eyes crackle with lightning, and anger masks his features. I have to convince myself that his anger isn't directed at me. He looks angrier than I've ever seen him.
Vincent starts stammering in fear. "You... I-that... that..." I can see him shivering. He takes a deep breath and composes himself. "So what? Even though she's married, I still have the right to pursue her. I was her fiancé. I was the one who had her first! You just manipulated her into marrying you. You scum! Besides, she can divorce even if she's married! What are you proud of? Can you provide her with a happy and wealthy life?" Vincent starts laughing manically. "Look at your car! A Suzuki Swift? Really?"
"What did you just say..."
Oh no! Rage courses through his veins. He's seething with anger. I can't let them fight here! We might end up at the police station!
"Hon, calm down!" I interject, pulling his hand away to face me. "I'm hungry. Let's not mind him, okay? Let's go?" I ask, but he doesn't respond and clenches his teeth in fury. Vincent's words have infuriated him. I quickly guide him towards the car and leave Vincent behind.
"Kianna! Where are you going? We need to talk!" Vince shouts, but I ignore him and keep walking.
He remains silent after getting into the car... I sneak a glance at him to gauge his reaction, but he seems displeased with what he heard earlier. Is he angry?
"He's just my ex-fiancé. He keeps pestering me and wants us to get back together, but I refuse."
He looks at me and listens to my words, but then he averts his gaze. "I understand," he mutters, starting the car and driving away.
Darn it! He's definitely angry. Why is he suddenly acting like this? He must know what happened last time... That darn rumor! Ugh... it's so frustrating!
