Chapter 29 Commotion
Chapter 29 Commotion
KIA
As I glance at the gray, wall-mounted, round black clock, I realize there are only a few minutes left of class. Thoughts of the exhausting incident from this morning fill my mind as I begin to gather my belongings. Finally, it's time to head home. I collect my things and make my way to the classroom door. After descending a few stairs, I step outside through the main doors, greeted by the pleasant weather. A gentle breeze rustles through the air, and the sky boasts a serene shade of blue.
Earlier, Ares had messaged me, informing me that he wouldn't be able to pick me up from school today. Therefore, I decided to take the bus home. I've been waiting for what feels like an eternity, watching the passing cars. Then, I glance up and spot the white and blue bus approaching my stop. I quickly grab my belongings and rush towards the bus, which comes to a slow halt in front of me, eager to head home.
Upon arriving home, I promptly kick off my shoes and head to the bedroom for a much-needed nap. Sleepiness swiftly engulfs me, and within a few minutes, I'm sound asleep. An hour later, the door creaks open slowly, and Ares enters, clearly worn out from work. He collapses onto the sofa, resting his head against it. After closing his eyes for half an hour, he finally stirs and decides to prepare dinner.
Ares cautiously pushes open the bedroom door, ensuring not to disturb me as I lie in bed. He finds me sleeping peacefully, softly snoring.
"My wife seems exhausted today," Ares murmurs. He approaches me and plants a tender kiss on my forehead before making his way to the kitchen to start cooking.
In the kitchen, he retrieves ingredients from the fridge and embarks on preparing an elaborate meal. He prepares chicken cordon bleu, expertly rolling ham and cheese inside a butterflied and flattened chicken breast before breading and cooking it to perfection. As the dish nears completion, the delightful aroma wafts into the bedroom, jolting me awake.
Before I can even sit up, Ares enters the bedroom with our dinner.
"You're awake. Here, have this before you doze off again," Ares says, setting up the bedside table and placing the meal within reach.
"We're eating here?" I inquire innocently.
Ares nods, passing me a spoon and fork. "Give it a try. I'm not sure if I seasoned it right, but I hope it's good."
"You know I'll eat it even if it's not perfect, right? But let's see what Chef Ares whipped up for me!" I reply, starting to cut into the chicken. As I chew, I maintain a neutral expression, which seems to make Ares nervous.
"...Mhm... I didn't like it..."
Ares is taken aback, disappointment visible in his expression. "Maybe I didn't season it well enough. Don't worry, honey, I'll do better next time-"
"I didn't like it because I loved it!" I burst into giggles. "You didn't let me finish my sentence. I really loved it, dear. Thank you! Come on, let's enjoy our meal!"
Ares, unsure of what to believe, simply grins and joins me in savoring our delicious chicken cordon bleu. However, his mind is preoccupied with concerns about my apparent exhaustion from school.
"Hon, is there something that happened at school today? You look so exhausted. I mean, I've never seen you go to bed without taking a bath first, and this is the first time you've done it," Ares murmured while gazing at his wife.
"...I got into a fight with-"
"A fight?! Did someone hurt you at school?! Tell me who hurt you!" Ares exclaimed in panic. Kianna immediately took his hand to calm him.
"Calm down, take a deep breath... Don't worry, it's just a minor scratch from Asteria's nails."
"Isn't Asteria your half-sister?"
"Yes... She approached me this morning while I was having my early lunch. I was really upset when she suddenly insulted my mom. It triggered me, so I grabbed her hair, and things escalated from there. Dad was also called to the dean's office, and Asteria had the audacity to lie. Fortunately, someone kind filmed the entire incident, so she was held accountable by the dean..."
"That explains the scratches on your hands. Let's go see a doctor," Ares suggested, preparing to get up, but Kianna gently pulled him back into his seat.
"I'm fine. They're just scratches, nothing serious."
They continued to eat their dinner and later retired to bed after a long and exhausting day. The following morning, Ares insisted on walking Kianna to campus, but she declined.
"Don't worry about me. If she bothers me again, I'll be sure to call you. Okay? Go now. I don't want you to get in trouble with your boss for being late," she reassured, touching Ares's face.
Ares calmly nodded, saying, "Call me. I love you..." He tenderly kissed Kianna's forehead, causing her cheeks to turn as red as an apple.
"...Mhm... I love you!"
Kianna hurried into the campus, and as she approached her department, her friends Miaree and Marcy grabbed her arm.
"What's going on?"
"You need to see this, sis!" Marcy exclaimed as they guided Kianna into the gymnasium.
"Nathan Zac Ramirez is holding a press conference inside the gymnasium, Kia! He's gone public, saying he likes you!" Miaree added.
"What?!"
"Yes, and right now, his fans are in an uproar. They're furious with you for deceiving them by denying that you were his girlfriend!"
...
THE GYMNASIUM
"I'm incredibly fortunate to have fallen in love with her. I can finally see her. She's here!" Nathan announced, gazing in Kianna's direction.
Reporters immediately stirred, rushing towards Kianna and snapping pictures.
"The heir of the Ramirez Group is talking to that girl. Could she be the lucky one?!"
"Wow! This is the most exciting news today!"
"It seems she's a student at this university."
"The rumor from before must be true!"
"Oh my God! The perfect love story between an heir and an ordinary student!"
The crowd erupted into chaos, camera flashes blinding Kianna. People pushed to get closer to her, but guards swiftly stepped in to protect her. They escorted Kianna and her friends onto the stage.

What's going on with him?! Why does he keep spouting lies? People are going to misunderstand! Damn it! I need to leave before his fans come after me. I can't afford to be the center of attention after this!
I suddenly tripped over someone's feet, and in the blink of an eye, I found myself in their arms. They caught me.
"You're quite clumsy, aren't you? It makes me want to protect you..."
"Let me go! Don't involve me in your mess if you're set on ruining yourself!"
What's wrong with him?! Has he lost his mind? I quickly stood up and pushed him away. This whole situation is utterly ridiculous.
"It's her! It's definitely her!"
"Is this an official announcement? The heir of the Ramirez Group is finally in a relationship?"
"Mr. Ramirez! We heard you were going to marry someone from a prestigious family. Is she the one?"
"Of course not, you moron! Take a good look at her! She doesn't look like she's from a wealthy family!"
He stepped forward and hushed the crowd, "Ladies and gentlemen, I apologize for causing a commotion today. Let's call it a day. If you have any questions, please contact my assistant." He said and approached me.
"Thank you for your help," he whispered before leaving.
What does he mean by that? I can't believe he's just walking away like this! He's so heartless! Damn, there are so many people here. What should I do?!
"Excuse me, miss. Were you the girl in the restroom with Mr. Ramirez?"
"What are your thoughts on Mr. Ramirez's feelings for you?"
"Do you consider yourself lucky?"
The camera flashes are blinding. Please, can someone get me out of here? I was startled when someone suddenly grabbed my arms and pulled me away. When I looked to see who it was, I found my friends, Miaree and Marcy, my saviors.
"Kianna, let's go!"
