Chapter 13 Suzuki Swift

"Wow, you even look like an angel when you're asleep," Ares murmured as he stared at Kia, who was sleeping peacefully.

He blinked, his eyes adjusting to the morning light streaming through the blinds, which had caused Kia to stir. She slowly opened her eyes, taking in her surroundings. To her surprise, she saw Ares gazing at her with a serious expression. Uncertain if she was still dreaming, she blinked and looked again.

He's really staring at me... I thought it was just a dream...

Closing her eyes once more, Kia allowed her drowsiness to pull her back under. Usually, waking up was a breeze for Kia; she was a morning person, after all. She groaned when the first rays of sunlight hit her face.

A minute later, the alarm clock on their nightstand began ringing. Ares reached over, grabbed it, and checked the time.

"What time is it?" Kia asked innocently, blinking at her husband.

"Hmm? Oh, it's already eight in the morning-"

"What?!" Kia exclaimed, sitting up abruptly. Her head throbbed, and she held her hand to her forehead. "Why didn't you wake me up earlier? My class is at 8:30 am... I'm going to be late." Scrambling out of bed, she rushed to the bathroom to brush her teeth.

"I thought your class started at 9 am?" Ares said as he began to gather his things.

Realizing they were out of time, they decided to skip the shower. "Your school is quite far from here, and I have a car. I can give you a ride," Ares offered.

"Okay, let's go," Kia said, already dressed and ready to leave.

Ares approached her, kissing her on the forehead. "You're so dedicated. Make sure to eat something during your break, okay?"

Kia nodded, briefly wondering if he was always this gentle with people, especially his first love, whom he mentioned the previous night.

They got into the car and drove to Kia's university. When they arrived, Kia gripped the door handle, ready to get out, but Ares suddenly took her hand. "Give me a call when you're done so I can pick you up. I love you!"

"Hmm, I love you too!" Kia smiled at Ares before hurrying inside the campus.

Ares drove to his office once Kia was out of sight. He entered the VIP parking garage in his Suzuki Swift.

"Hey, babe! Check this out - it's the VIP parking garage. Only folks with an annual income of five million get a passcard for this place. Come on, I'll show you my new car that daddy got me," a man with a gold cross necklace said, his arm around his girlfriend's waist.

"Look, a Suzuki Swift!" his girlfriend exclaimed, pointing at Ares' car.

"What?! Is the garage access system malfunctioning?!" the guy exclaimed, looking shocked.

Ares expertly parked his car with a stylish drift before stepping out. Their jaws dropped when they realized who was driving the car.

"B-babe... Is that Ares France Vuertalejo, the CEO of this company? How is he driving a Suzuki Swift to work?!"

*Tick tick-*

"He looks so attractive even in a car like that..." the girl mumbled, drooling a bit.

"Here comes the CEO! Everyone, get ready!"

Ares entered the building at a leisurely pace, where his secretary awaited him by the entrance. Ares stood out in the crowd, not just due to his status but also his striking looks. His eyes held depth and expression that could captivate anyone who gazed into them for too long. His face bore a distant quality that defied description, and his smile, reaching all the way to his eyes, exuded humility and modesty.

"Wow, is that really him? It's my first time seeing him in person. Why is he so handsome?!"

"I can't take my eyes off him!"

"You know what they say? Boss Ares supposedly drove a Suzuki Swift to work today!"

"That can't be right! He owns countless limited-edition luxury cars!"

"Maybe he got tired of luxury cars and decided to change things up?"

Upon entering his office, Ares settled into his black leather chair, propping his feet on the desk.

"CEO Vuertalejo, here's your schedule for today."

"Kyle, I've told you countless times, call me 'boss.' Don't bring the corporate formality in here," Ares mumbled, his gaze stern as he glared at his secretary.

"Yes, boss..." Kyle muttered in compliance.

Ares scratched his forehead. "You seem different today. What's going on?"

"Boss! It's been bugging me! I can't stand it! I don't know who spread that ridiculous rumor about you driving a Suzuki Swift to work today! Who'd believe that? It's like someone who dines at fancy restaurants every day suddenly switching to fast food!" Kyle exclaimed, his face contorted with frustration.

"But Jollibee is pretty good!" Ares thought to himself.

"They've got it right. I drove a Suzuki Swift to work today," Ares declared proudly.

"What?! You really came to work in a Suzuki Swift?!"

"Shush!" Ares quickly covered Kyle's mouth.

"Umm!"

"Quit your noise. Do you want to work in the janitorial department?" A mischievous grin played on Ares' lips.

"No, boss. I'm your loyal sidekick! I won't do it again!" Kyle's eyes shone like a star-struck puppy.

"Any updates on the information I asked you to investigate?"

"Right..." Kyle grabbed his iPad and began presenting the collected files. "The individual's name is Kianna Myst Saavedra, 21 years old, currently studying at the University of Cavite. She juggles multiple part-time jobs to support herself. Her family is well-off, with her father, Mr. Richard Saavedra, serving as the chairman of the Saavedra Group. Unfortunately, her mother passed away six years ago, and her father remarried. Her stepmother has a daughter named Asteria Dayle Silvian, who later changed her name to Asteria Dayle Saavedra. Rumor has it that Asteria is Mr. Saavedra's biological daughter, and tensions between her and Kianna Myst Saavedra run high."

"Is that all? You've gathered minimal preliminary information. You wouldn't even get hired by Fabulous Magazine. Off to the janitorial department with you!"

Kyle's eyes widened in horror, and he hastily handed over his iPad to Ares. "Don't worry, boss; there's more to it... Kianna Myst Saavedra fell in love with her boyfriend, Vincent Rivera, and they've been together for five years. However, he turned out to be an unfaithful jerk and had an affair with Kianna's half-sister, Asteria. This could be the reason Kianna decided on a sudden flash marriage. Vincent Rivera even went to her university to cause trouble. Kianna publicly exposed his infidelity, which was quite impressive. But Vincent Rivera hasn't given up; he's been waiting by her school gate. This sums up her recent romantic life. Are you satisfied, boss?"

So, she's been through a tough time due to her ex-fiancé's betrayal.

"Get me more information on her ex-fiancé, and if possible, make life difficult for the Rivera Family. We need to stop Vincent Rivera from harassing Kianna. Got it?" Ares said, his arms crossed.

How dare he cheat on the person I have feelings for!

"Why involve the Rivera Family? That's not your usual style, boss," Kyle innocently inquired.

"Do you want your family to face the consequences instead?"

"Boss, don't worry! I promise to handle it perfectly!" Kyle exclaimed before hurrying out.

Kianna... you're the most beautiful thing in my life. I swear I'll protect you for as long as I live.
