Chapter 80
Chapter 80
"You want him for yourself. Do you think that you can do anything just because you are pretty? Annette, if I am not worthy of Alpha Connor, and so do you."
"I am indeed unworthy of him, so I have never had such a bold idea. I am different from a whimsical woman like you. I know myself. In terms of wealth and power, Connor is a hundred times stronger than you. In terms of appearance and character, it is the same. If you are satisfied with your face, you wouldn't have gone through so many plastic surgeries. You dislike yourself, yet you actually expect Connor to take a fancy to you. Stop dreaming. Don't call me with a high and mighty attitude again. You are nobody."
After that, Annette hung up the phone.
Jessica heard the busy tone from the other side of the line, and she was so angry that she lay on the bed and screamed.
"Damn Annette! This isn't over!"
Annette took a deep breath. She felt it was hard to breathe.
She stood up and went home. She packed her luggage and went to the station.
After she bought a ticket, her phone rang.
It was from Connor. Annette did not pick it up and hung up the phone.
She hesitated for a moment and texted him. "Don't contact me again in the future." Then, she turned off her phone.
She did not want to suffer any more grievances because of any man.
Everything would end today.
Connor saw the message and was confused.
When he sent Annette home last night, everything was fine. Why did she suddenly break up with him?
He drove to Annette's house. He kept pressing the doorbell, no one answered.
In the end, Connor got someone to break the door.
No one was home, and he was upset.
Sitting on the sofa, he called Hari. "Hari, find out where Annette is. Now!"
"Yes, I'm on it."
Connor gritted his teeth and thought, 'Annette, you want to get rid of me? No way.'
In less than half an hour, Hari called him.
"Mr. Norman, I found her. She bought a ticket to Canton. Moreover, my people also found out that this morning, Marcus went to see Ms. Hall. After that, Ms. Hall went to the park and went back half an hour later. Then, she packed her luggage and left."
Connor was furious. He ordered, "Send someone to stop Annette."
"Do we need to bring her back?" Hari asked.
"No. Just follow her for now and wait for my order."
"OK."
Connor went downstairs. He got in the car and left.
On the way, he called Marcus, his voice full of anger.
"Didn't I tell you not to provoke Annette? Did you turn a deaf ear to my words?"
"Connor, I..."
"Shut up!" Connor was furious. He said, "Marcus, if you disobey me again, I'll send you to Princeton right away. Before you are able to get me to quit the position of the Alpha, you better behave yourself. Otherwise, don't blame me for breaking off our relationship."
Marcus shouted, "You are doing it already! Connor, you've never shouted at me before."
"That's because you were reasonable before."
"I'm doing that for your own good."
"I don't need a child to tell me what to do!"
"Connor, she's a member of the Black Thorn Pack. She is just a hypocrite. She said that she never thought of becoming your mate. But then, she went to complain to you right away."
Marcus was angry. He had felt sorry for Annette in the morning, yet she let him down.
"Complain? If she did, I wouldn't be angry with you." Connor sneered.
"Impossible. Otherwise, how would you know that I met her?"
"Think about it, idiot! As long as I investigate her whereabouts, I'll know who she met with."
Marcus fell silent.
"You better pray that I can find Annette. If she escapes from Akron, you will be in big trouble."
"She left? Where did she go?" Marcus asked in confusion.
"What do you think? You chased her away. Are you satisfied now?" Connor said.
"I didn't chase her away. I just asked her to leave you."
"What else did you say? I told you to shut your mouth. Did you say anything about the two packs?"
"No."
Connor snorted and hung up the phone.
Roxanne picked up Annette at the station.
They hugged each other tightly. Annette felt wronged and her eyes turned red. "Roxanne, I miss you so much."
"I miss you too."
Roxanne let go of her. "Anyway, you can't leave this week. You have to stay here with me."
Annette laughed. "You have to keep your word. I came here hungry."
Roxanne looked at her watch and said, "Let's go. It's time for lunch. I'll take you to my favorite restaurant."
In fact, Annette had no appetite.
She did not want Roxanne to worry about her. Thus, even if she had no appetite, she still stuffed the food into her mouth.
Roxanne smiled at her and asked, "Do you like the food?"
Annette nodded and said, "It's good. I enjoyed it."
Roxanne said happily, "I knew you would like it. We like similar food. When you called me this morning, I was so happy that I jumped. Recently, I have been in the pack all the time and felt bored."
Annette smiled and continued to eat.
"Don't go back. My family also has a company. You can work here."
Annette shook her head. "I was indeed thinking of leaving Akron and living in a remote city."
"Why? Did Kyle give you a hard time? He also works at the school, and I know that it is not a good thing. I heard that Lena went to him several times, but Kyle did not see her. At that time, I thought that he was going to change. I didn't expect him to bully you."
Annette smiled bitterly and shook her head. "It has nothing to do with Kyle. I just want to start over again in another city."
