Chapter 65
Chapter 65
Getting Annette's promise, Marcus hugged her excitedly and then jumped up.
Annette patted him and said, "Well, stop acting like a child. Hurry up and call Connor to ask him out."
Marcus dialed Connor's number.
"Connor, come out and have lunch together."
"I'm busy."
"Connor, don't hang up. It's Luna Annette who wants to invite you for lunch. She said that she misses you," Marcus said with a smile.
Annette patted him on the shoulder, trying to grab the phone and speak to Connor directly.
However, Marcus ran away and did not let Annette reach the phone.
Connor was silent for a full ten seconds. He said over the phone, "Ask her to call me."
Connor then hung up the phone.
Marcus looked at Annette and sounded upset, "Connor asked you to call him."
Annette took out her phone and called Connor.
Staring at the incoming number, Connor's expression eased.
He let the phone ring for a while and then picked up the phone.
"Um... Connor, have you had lunch?" Annette said nervously.
"Not yet."
"Do you want to have lunch together?"
"Since you invited me with such passion, I guess I can spare some time to have lunch with you."
Annette thought, 'What a shameless man.'
"Then I will ask Marcus to tell you the address," Annette quickly said.
After hanging up the phone, Connor curved his lips into a smile and went downstairs to his car.
When he came to the restaurant, Marcus was sitting opposite Annette, chatting with her.
When Connor walked over, Marcus quickly got up and pulled out a chair for him.
Connor was about to say something when Marcus clapped his hands and said, "Oh, I forgot. I still have something to do. I won't be able to have lunch with you. Enjoy the meal."
Marcus stood up and gave Annette a look. Then he almost fled away.
Annette was dumbfounded.
Did Marcus just leave her behind?
The waiter brought the menu over. Connor opened it and asked, "Before talking about Marcus, do you have anything else to tell me?"
Annette asked in surprise, "How did you know that I was going to say something about Marcus?"
"You and Marcus said that you wanted to treat me to lunch. I knew why. These days, he has been asking around to get someone to persuade me, but no one dared to get into this issue. You are quite brave. You enjoy going against me, right?" Connor snorted.
Annette was a little embarrassed. She knew that it would be awkward.
"I..." She said at a loss, "Well..."
"Why? Cat got your tongue? Weren't you quite heartless when you drove me out last night?" Connor asked.
Annette frowned and looked at him. "Are you here to make fun of me?"
"With that attitude, aren't you worried that I'll refuse your plea for Marcus?"
"Don't make it sound like if I beg you, you will agree to it." Annette snorted and said, "I am here to reason with you."
"Well, other people can do the same. Why should I listen to you?"
"So, since you knew why I asked you out, why did you still come?" Annette asked.
"Well. Just say what you have to say for that brat. I'm all ears." Connor crossed his arms and looked at Annette calmly.
Annette thought for a moment. "Are you really not going to let him stay in Akron for university?"
"No."
"Why?"
"The universities in other states can teach better at the major I chose for him."
"But I think gold will glitter no matter how," Annette said.
"Marcus is not just any kid. He will be a senior executive in the Noman Group one day, and if people under him are all elites who are better than him, how will he feel at that time?" Connor asked.
Annette was utterly stunned at his words.
After all, it made perfect sense.
Connor looked at her and asked, "Anything else to say?"
Annette looked at him. "I can't be responsible for Marcus' future. Why should I change your mind when you are making the right decision for him?"
Connor smiled.
Annette was always so clear-headed.
That was what he appreciated the most from Annette.
"However," he said, "If you can persuade him to study at Princeton after graduation, I might consider changing my decision."
Annette said in surprise, "Really?"
"So? Do you think I came here just to tease you?" Connor's voice rose again.
"That's not what I meant. I didn't expect you to give in."
Connor looked at her with a doting smile and said, "I knew that you wanted to persuade me, but I still came. It means that I might change my decision. On the other hand, you don't seem to do a good job."
Annette looked at him with narrowed eyes and smiled. "I know. Because you are a good brother."
"I will let him study at Werewolf University in Akron. But, you've got to take care of him. After all, you are his future Luna."
She looked at Connor in surprise.
Connor looked at her and laughed.
Connor reached out and rubbed her head.
Annette dodged and snorted.
Connor looked at her with a doting smile.
Not far from here, Jessica, who was sitting in the corner, secretly took a photo of the scene.
She noticed Annette and Marcus the moment they walked in.
Fortunately, Annette didn't look around at that time, so she did not see Jessica.
Unexpectedly, Connor showed up soon after that.
Jessica remembered that Austin told his parents that Annette had cut off contact with the Blood Moon Pack.
She wanted to go back and threw the evidence at Austin.
If Lance knew about this, he would probably not let the bitch's daughter off easily.
Jessica looked at Annette's back and said to herself with malice, "Annette, a woman like you doesn't deserve Alpha Connor. You are not worthy of his love. Not at all."
