His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 52

Chapter 52

Thea had just gotten into the elevator when Annette arrived at the door of it.

  Annette quickly rushed in.

Thea wiped her tears stubbornly. She glared at Annette and asked, "What do you want now?"

The elevator doors closed, and Annette pressed the button for the ground floor.

"I'll just say two things. First, you're targeting the wrong person. Melvin's other lover isn't me. It's Catherine. Second, I did not speak ill of you in the cafeteria today. Think about it. Of all the things you heard at noon, which one came from me?"

Thea tilted her head to look at Annette. In the next second, Thea realized something and said, "You mean, that bitch is Catherine?"

  Annette didn't say anything.

Thea was anxious. "Then why didn't you say anything before?"

"First of all, you never said that the reason why you targeted me was that you thought I was Mr. Horton's lover. Secondly, I will only work here for one month, so I don't want to get myself into trouble. However, just because I don't make trouble doesn't mean I'm afraid of trouble," said Annette.

The elevator doors opened, but Thea didn't intend to go out.

Annette asked, "Aren't you coming out?"

Thea was silent for a moment before walking out.

Annette looked at Thea and said, "Wait a second."

Thea turned back to look at Annette.

Annette said, "Though you kinda got fired, because of me, I'm not sorry about it. After all, I didn't do you wrong."

Thea turned around and left without saying anything.

In Connor's office, he looked at Amanda.

"Tell me what is going on between that guy and Annette."

  "You mean Curtis?"

  "Yes."

Amanda thought, 'Curtis is going to be in trouble.'

"Mr. Norman, Annette is very pretty and also has a great personality. I don't think Curtis is the only one in the Training Department who has a crush on her, but compared with others, Curtis is more expressive," Amanda explained, choosing her words carefully.

"From now on, keep an eye on the men around Annette and keep me posted," Connor commanded.

"OK." Amanda had a bit of a headache.

She thought, 'This is a huge task.

It's a good thing Annette only works here for a month, or I can forget about doing anything else.'

When Amanda returned to the office, everyone immediately stopped discussing.

They gave Amanda a big hand.

She smiled at them and said, "Alright, everyone. Go back to work."

During dinner at Annette's place, Connor asked, "Were you hurt in the cafeteria today?"

  "No," Annette immediately replied.

"Because the knight showed up and saved the damsel in distress?" Connor's tone carried a hint of ridicule.

"Even if Curtis didn't show up, I wouldn't let Thea hit me. I didn't do anything wrong anyway," Annette said disapprovingly.

After she finished speaking, she looked at Connor and asked, "I mean it. I didn't speak ill of Thea behind her back. Do you believe me?"

He nodded without hesitation. "I do. Because I know you. You will never do such a thing."

Annette looked at him, feeling a little touched.

"Promise me two things, since I helped you today," Connor said. He noticed the change in Annette's expression and took the opportunity to make demands. Then he continued, "First, you are not allowed to have a relationship with any guy in the company. I am afraid I will lose control and fire the best employees I have for your sake."

Annette was a little helpless. She said, "Sure thing, but you are not excluded either. What is the second thing?"

"Give me a key to this place."

  Annette asked warily, "Why?"

"Because I have to press the doorbell every day. It's troublesome."

"No. This is my space, so I won't give you the key. Guests press the doorbell, and only the owner takes the key. I'm quite aware of that."

Connor rolled his eyes at her and said, "You are quite clear-headed, aren't you? I think you are just wary of me."

"That's normal for a rogue who lives alone," Annette said, spreading her palms.

While they were talking, Annette suddenly received a call from Roxanne.

It turned out that Roxanne was leaving the school to return to her pack. Therefore, she and Annette agreed to meet tomorrow.

Connor got up and prepared to leave shortly after Annette finished talking to Roxanne.

When Connor walked to the door, he suddenly said to Annette, "By the way, make time for me this weekend. We're going to the suburbs for a family reunion."

  Annette frowned and said, "No."

"That's not up to you. After all, you offered to marry me. In their eyes, you are my future Luna." Connor shrugged.

Annette gritted her teeth, while Connor smirked.

The next day, after getting off work, Annette immediately rushed over to meet with Roxanne.

Roxanne reminded Annette to watch out for Lena. Lena had already moved out of school. She didn't get a detention, and if she didn't want to be an Omega responsible for the cleanup work in Crystal Pack, she had to find work outside the pack.

Therefore, Lena was very jealous of Annette and hated Annette's guts.

Roxanne was worried that Lena might harm Annette.

"I see. Don't worry about me," Annette said to Roxanne.

"Also, don't patch things up with Kyle. Otherwise, I'm done being your friend," Roxanne said.

Annette shook her head and smiled. "Roxanne, do you know how hard it is to open up to someone after being let down? I hate complicated things. You know me, don't you?"

"But when it comes to relationships, no one can stay clear-headed. Even a smart person will become a fool."

For some reason, Annette thought of Connor.

She thought, 'His obsession with me seems a bit mad to me.

  Yet he doesn't love me.'

After Annette and Roxanne finished eating, they took a walk around the university hand in hand.

Roxanne leaned on Annette's shoulder and said, "Time flies, right?"

They looked at each other and smiled. The college days when they often teased each other were truly over.

That night, when Roxanne was leaving, Annette did not see her off.

Annette wasn't afraid to see Roxanne cry, but she was worried that she wouldn't be able to hold back her tears.
