His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 37

Chapter 37

The next morning, Annette arrived at the Noman Group on time.

Before she came, she had made an appointment with Connor that they should pretend not to know each other in the company.

So no one knew how she was recruited.

Like other new employees, Annette was busy breaking in.

Her job was to introduce the new products to the staff of the business department.

There were a total of four lecturers, and each of them was responsible for one product. Annette had to prepare carefully for the course in a week.

At noon, she received a call from Connor.

Connor asked, "Are you off work?"

  Annette whispered, "Not yet."

"Stop your work and come upstairs now. I'm hungry," Connor said.

Annette thought for a moment and said, "I'll put the lunch box at the front desk. Can you ask your secretary to get it?"

"Forget it. Come to me after you're done with work. I'm the only one on the top floor. Don't worry," Connor said resignedly.

"But our team leader just said that he would treat the four new lecturers to lunch. I can't refuse him on the first day of work," Annette said hesitantly.

"Then come to me after you finish lunch. Go back to your work." Connor hung up the phone.

He picked up the intercom and called his secretary. "Hari, check who is the temporary lecturer of the training department and send him to Las Vegas for a business trip."

Hari was stunned and asked, "Now?"

"Yes, right now. Ask him to set off ten minutes later," Connor said decisively.

  "Okay." Hari nodded.

Annette's team leader left the company quickly and couldn't treat the new employees anymore. Thus, Annette took the elevator to the top floor.

She walked along the corridor and saw the sign "President's Office" at its end.

Annette breathed a sigh of relief, pushed the door open, and walked in. She looked at Connor and said, "I was scared."

"Why? Is my office that fancy?" Connor joked.

"I was afraid that someone would see me, okay?" Annette rolled her eyes.

Seeing that she was a little angry, Connor stopped joking. He returned to his seat and began to eat the lunch Annette prepared.

The lunch box Annette prepared for him was not bad.

Connor was satisfied with the food.

When Annette went downstairs, she first walked to the 18th floor and then took the elevator back to the 12th floor.

Standing in the elevator, she smiled. She thought, 'It's like I'm having an affair with him.'

After work in the evening, Connor offered Annette a ride, but she refused. She went downstairs alone and took a bus home.

Under the apartment building, she saw Austin.

Annette walked over and said in surprise, "Austin, why are you here?"

"I always wanted to congratulate you, but I have been busy in the past two days," Austin explained with a smile.

He pointed at his car. "Let's go. Get in the car. I'll take you to celebrate."

They went to the restaurant they often visited. Austin looked at Annette and said, "Annette, didn't you want to stay in school to teach? How is it going?"

Annette nodded and replied, "The list has been made public. I can stay."

"You can try other jobs too. Your mother has passed away, and you don't have to fulfill her dreams," Austin said.

Annette shrugged and did not answer.

"Annette, why don't you work at the Fisher Group? I have a position for you and we can work together in the future. You don't have to worry about Jessica and my mother. I will persuade them. Alpha Lance has agreed," Austin said.

Annette shook her head firmly. "No. You know my relationship with the Black Thorn Pack."

"But Alpha Lance is your father. We will always be family." Austin tried to persuade Annette.

"I won't do that." Annette shook her head again. "I don't have a father."

"Annette. Alpha Lance cares about you," Austin sighed.

"Let's change the subject or I will go home." Annette said with a serious expression, "I told you not to talk about this again."

Austin was about to say something when he saw Lance being pushed in by the waiter. Leslie, Austin's mother and Luna of the Black Thorn Pack, was also there.

When Leslie saw Austin, she said unhappily, "I asked Beta where you went. He said that you were having a meal with Jessica. But Jessica is at home, sleeping now. And I figured that you might be here."

Austin was a little embarrassed, and Leslie continued, "Our pack has been stirred up by this woman, yet you are still in the mood to have a meal with her. Austin, what are you thinking?"

Austin's tone turned colder. "Don't blame everything on Annette."

"Did I say anything wrong? If she hadn't offended Alpha Connor, would the Norman Group have targeted the Fisher Group without warning?" Leslie said angrily.

"Enough!" Lance's voice was not loud, but it had a deterring effect. He looked at Austin and said, "Austin, go out with Leslie."

Austin took a deep breath and said, "Ann. Go home first and leave this to me."

"No need. Just go out for a moment." Annette smiled at him.

Lance had brought Leslie there. Even if Annette did not listen to him today, he would come to her another day.

Since that was the case, she should settle it today.

Leslie said unhappily, "Alpha Lance, what do you want to say to her? Why did you ask me to go out? Her mother is a bitch, and she..."

"Luna Leslie!" Annette interrupted Leslie coldly. "If you insult my mother again, I will tell the reporters about my identity tomorrow!"

"You bitch! Are you threatening me?" Leslie shouted angrily.

Lance cast a glance at Austin, and Austin immediately pulled Leslie out of the restaurant.
