Chapter 27
Chapter 27
Connor smiled disapprovingly. He looked at Annette and said, "It's up to you. Anyway, I can tell the truth at any time and don't mind others' gossip about us."
Although they were at loggerheads, the way they talked to each other looked intimate.
Alina walked in and ran into the scene.
Annette glanced at Alina and rolled her eyes at Connor in embarrassment. She said softly, "You are hurting me."
Connor kissed her on the cheek and said, "How about this?"
Annette's face instantly turned red. She pouted and said, "Stop messing with me. They are watching us."
Connor smiled at her lovingly. "Don't be shy. They are my family."
Alina stopped in her tracks because it had been a long time since she had seen Connor smile so gently.
Was Annette so special to him?
Marcus pushed Lucas in, and they sat down around the dining table.
Connor said, "Dwayne, go get a bottle of red wine."
Dwayne fetched a bottle of red wine and served it.
Dwayne was going to pour a glass of wine for Annette, then Connor raised his hand and stopped Dwayne. "Annette can't drink. If she drinks too much, she will make a fool of herself."
Marcus was puzzled. "How did you know that? Have you seen it before?"
Connor looked at him and asked, "What do you think?"
"Annette, are you hiding something from me?" Marcus asked.
"Marcus, a secret is something that you can't share with others. So, don't ask," Connor said.
"I am just curious." Marcus still wanted to ask more about it.
"Marcus, why do you care about Annette so much? Do you want to go on a date with her?" Lucas suddenly said, "If that's the case, I will support you."
"Lucas, don't make wild guesses. Annette is my girlfriend." Connor interrupted the conversation between Lucas and Marcus.
Connor's words were like a bomb and shocked everyone present.
Annette felt upset. She agreed to help him today to make him shut up.
However, the situation seemed worse.
Marcus clapped his hands in surprise and said, "I felt something was going on between you two."
Connor glanced at him and said, "You seem excited. Sit down."
Annette felt so embarrassed that she didn't know how to respond.
She stood up and said, "It's getting late. I need to go back and work on my thesis. Otherwise, I have to stay up late tonight. Enjoy your meal. I'll take my leave first."
She turned around and was about to leave, but Connor grabbed her wrist and pulled her back.
Annette lost her balance and sat on his lap unexpectedly.
Connor hugged her by the waist and said, "I'll send you back after dinner."
Annette had no choice but to sit down again. Alina looked at her from time to time.
Annette raised her head and met Alina's eyes directly.
They looked at each other for a moment. Alina smiled, "Connor, you have good taste. Ms. Hall is gorgeous."
"It's the arrangement of the Moon Goddess," Connor said.
Lucas put down his knife and fork and wiped the corner of his mouth. "I didn't know when the Luna of the Blood Moon Pack would show up. Now, it seems that we will have Luna soon."
Marcus hurriedly said, "What's going on? Lucas, what do you mean?"
Connor said, "It depends on Annette. I can announce Annette's identity to the pack at any time."
Everyone's eyes rested on Annette's face.
Annette was a little angry. Was he bullying her? Connor kept making things difficult for her.
He could explain it in a few words, yet he insisted on troubling her. Did he want to see her make a fool of herself?
Annette did not intend to help him. She smiled, "I'm not ready to become the Luna of a pack, but we can get married first."
Annette tried to pressure Connor and wanted to see how he would end it.
Connor was not flustered. He said calmly, "No problem. I will pick you up tomorrow. We can get married at any time."
Connor's answer was beyond Annette's expectations. For the first time, she felt that she was timid.
She had never been afraid of any man in her life, but Connor seemed to be an exception.
Alina's face turned gloomy.
Hearing that Connor was going to marry Annette, she could not even maintain her fake smile.
Lucas turned to look at her.
Seeing that her eyes were fixed on Connor, he retracted his gaze and raised his wine glass. "Connor, Ms. Hall, congratulations."
"Thank you." Connor drank up his wine and observed Alina's reactions secretly.
She looked at a loss.
Connor knew that she was in shock.
Over the years, he had brought many women back, but it was the first time he wanted to marry someone.
Connor didn't think there was anything wrong with this.
This day would come eventually. It was just a matter of time.
If Annette could solve the problem among him, Lucas, and Alina, it would be the best.
Connor put down his glass and asked Annette, "Have you finished? Shall I take you home now?"
Annette nodded and felt relieved. She got up and said, "Mr. Lucas, Ms. Grace, Marcus. I'll be leaving first."
After they said goodbye, Connor walked her out of the living room and left.
Now, there were just Lucas and Alina in the living room.
They looked at each other in silence.
Alina raised her glass and took a sip.
Lucas looked at her without any expressions.
Alina smiled, "Now, you don't need to worry anymore."
"Indeed."
Lucas said, "I think he is serious this time. I have never seen him indulge someone like this before. Do you see the affection in his eyes for Ms. Hall ?"
Alina put down her glass and said, "Let's go home."
Lucas smiled faintly. "Okay, sure."
