His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 264

Chapter 264

After a while, they finally set up the tent and the parasol.

Eden even brought ingredients and a grill.

Under the parasol, he enthusiastically barbecued for everyone.

Alanna went to the flower field to take photos with Eden's girlfriend.

After glancing at Sara, Annette took Connor's arm and said, "Let's go check it out too."

Connor readily agreed.

Not far away, Alanna lifted her camera and snapped in their direction.

Then she shouted, "Annette, Alpha Connor."

Hearing her voice, they looked over in unison. Just then, Alanna pressed the shutter release.

It was their first group photo since they met.

After finishing the shoot, Alanna lowered her head and glanced at the image on the camera. She couldn't help but exclaim, "Geez, they look so good together. Even my random snap feels like a wedding photo."

In the distance, Annette was excited to see Zachary and Sara together.

She grabbed Connor's arm and said, "Look, Zachary and Sara went over there."

"Why are you so excited?"

Annette grinned and said, "Of course I'm excited. I can't believe I forgot to invite Zachary yesterday."

"Do you still feel that I shouldn't have come?"

"I didn't mean that. I just worried that they'd feel awkward with you here. After all, they do seem less relaxed in front of you."

"Then you should take me out with you more often."

Puzzled, Annette asked, "Why?"

Instead of replying, Connor pecked her on the cheek.

Annette covered her face, blushing.

A while later, Alanna yelled, "Annette, Alpha Connor, the food's ready!"

Connor exhorted again, "You are pregnant. So no barbecue. Get it?"

Annette whispered, "Not gonna happen."

Connor stopped her and said, "If you don't behave, I will say it again in front of everyone."

"This is exactly why I told you not to be here. You're such a killjoy."

Connor snorted, "Well, I'm already here."

Annette had to agree.

When they returned to the tent, Eden said to everyone, "Dig in, guys."

Sara handed the kebabs to Annette.

Annette only passed one of them to Connor.

Noticing Connor's stare at the kebab in her hand, Annette pouted and gave it to him.

When Sara was about to give her another kebab, she waved her hand and said, "Sara, I'll pass. I kinda feel sick when I smell the barbecue."

Alanna exclaimed in surprise, "But haven't you never had morning sickness?"

"Yeah." Annette patted her chest and said, "I don't know what happened to me these days."

Zachary worriedly asked, "Do you wanna go to the hospital now?"

"It's okay."

Connor blurted, "I told Leonard to go get you some nutritious food. He'll be back in a minute."

Soon, Leonard returned.

Seeing the crowd enjoying the barbecue and beers, Annette couldn't help feeling jealous.

Alanna stood up and suggested, "Let's play a game. Aren't outings all about having fun?"

Everyone nodded in agreement.

"What should we play?" asked Annette.

Alanna chuckled, "I've prepared one."

She ran to the nearby makeshift table and took out a box from her bag.

There were many notes inside the box.

Alanna explained the rules, "Let's take turns to draw and then act according to the instructions on the note. If you can't do it, you have to drink a can of beer."

A smirk curved Connor's lips. He had never played a game like this.

Everyone nodded, including him.

When he saw the words on the note he drew, he couldn't help shaking his head and bursting out laughing.

Annette glanced at her note, frowning.

She turned to Connor and asked, "Why are you laughing? What did it read?"

Connor glanced at her note and asked her back, "What about you?"

"It's a secret." As Annette was about to put the note back, Connor caught her hand.

Her note fell to the ground.

Then Connor picked it up before she could react.

Eyes on the note, he raised a brow, saying, "What a brilliant idea. Why are you putting it back?"

He pushed the note back into her hand.

Curious, Alanna asked, "Annette, what did it say?"

Connor read it out loud, "Please go to the most crowded place, shout your boyfriend/girlfriend's name, and tell the world you love him/her."

"Wow!" Alanna clapped.

"How about we start with Annette?" she teased.

"No." Annette waved her hand in refusal. "It's hard to find a crowded place. Let's start with someone else."

She pointed at Alanna and said, "Since you suggested that we play the game, you should do it first."

"Sure." Alanna handed over the note and said, "My note says that I should talk about the most terrifying thing I've ever eaten."

"My answer is a spider," she blurted.

Eden shivered, feeling a chill down his spine. "How did you even swallow it?"

"Now it's your turn," said Alanna.

Connor handed his note to Annette, who was bursting with curiosity.

She looked down and read, "Talk about the craziest thing you have ever done in your life."

Then she lifted her head and fixed her eyes on him, awaiting his answer.

Connor replied calmly, "I smashed a shop to get a teddy bear for a drunk girl."

Annette's cheeks suddenly heated up.

No one made any comments.

After all, they had heard a lot of gossip about Connor and different girls.

So, none of them knew who the drunk girl was.

Annette shot him a glare.

Meeting her eyes, Connor deliberately added, "Guys, don't drink with Annette. Or you'll be sorry."

Annette covered his mouth and said in a hurry, "Shut up."

After everyone finished their rounds, they fixed their gaze on Annette.

She said bitterly, "Why are yours so simple?"

Connor replied in displeasure, "Do you prefer to talk about the merits of your first love?"

Annette sprang to her feet, looked around, and said, "That place seems bustling. I'll do it there."

Worried, Connor followed her.

As she was about to shout after taking a deep breath, she suddenly got cold feet.

Connor, who stood by her side, teased, "Am I such a shame?"

"Nonsense," Annette retorted, her cheeks flushed. "There are too many people."

"You should be glad that we're not in the downtown. Hurry up. Don't keep everyone waiting."

Annette remained silent.

"How about this? I'll do it for you. But you have to return me with a kiss," suggested Connor.

That was even worse!

With a wry smile, she said, "I'd rather do it myself."

She plucked up her courage and exclaimed, "Connor, I love you."

As soon as she finished shouting, the people around her cast curious glances.

She immediately grabbed Connor's hand and ran away.

The confession brought a content smile to Connor's face. He cooed in her ear, "I love you too, Annette."

Right now, Connor suddenly felt that happiness was at his fingertips.

He had his beloved by his side, and she was carrying his child. That was all he ever needed.

Wasn't that what happiness was all about?

Annette's confession of love made Connor's life complete. From now on, they would spend the rest of their lives together until death did them apart.

(The end)
