Chapter 256
Chapter 256
"Did I hurt you?" Annette looked puzzled.
"Why did you tell Connor what I said to you the night before? Did you think he should solve the problem between us?"
Annette pursed her lips tightly and then laughed.
Alina shouted, "What do you mean? Are you happy?"
"You said that my job would burden Connor, and I took your advice. So, I asked my mate's opinion. Is there anything wrong with that?"
"Annette, don't think you could just brush me off."
Annette raised her eyebrows and said, "Oh, I didn't, because I really don't care much about you."
Alina sneered, "Before he met you, Connor only loved me. Because of him, Lucas was crippled, and I ended up in an unhappy marriage. He should feel guilty because he ruined my life."
Annette felt that Alina's words were somewhat ridiculous.
"Alina, do you really know Connor? Before Lucas married you, Connor had many chances to make you his mate, but he didn't. That's because he wasn't sure if you were his true love."
"Shut up!"
"Besides, even if Connor did love you, so what? He had moved on. And I'm his mate now. You always said you didn't want to disrupt the peace of the Blood Moon Pack, but since I met you, it's always been you who disrupted this peace."
"Stop framing me. I've been doing my best to protect the pack."
"Really? Then why are you still bothering Connor? Why are you doing things that will ruin the relationship between Connor and Lucas?"
Alina said angrily, "Annette, you didn't think that with Connor's support, you could falsely frame me, did you?"
Annette looked at Alina and shook her head contemptuously. "Since you like to play dumb, I'll make it clear to you."
Annette fell silent for a moment. Then she said, "When you just got pregnant, you came back to live with us after a fight with Lucas. You were very friendly and even went shopping with me. But you used my name to buy clothes for Connor, saying that you wanted to improve my relationship with him. Do you remember that?"
"I was doing it for your good."
"Is that so? If I truly wanted to do good for someone, I would ask for his or her opinion. I would ask if he or she liked it or not, instead of just buying it without saying anything."
"I just wanted to give you a surprise."
Annette sneered and said, "Ms. Grace, whether or not you had good intentions doesn't depend on what you said, but on what you did. That day, if I had kept silent about your so-called help, Connor would have worn the clothes you picked out for him. In that case, you're the winner in the end."
"If you wanted to think that way, I couldn't do anything about it. You got me wrong."
"Is that so? Then what about that expensive coat?"
Alina raised her eyebrows and said, "I didn't know he bought it for me."
"Ms. Grace, after seeing that coat, I asked Connor. Connor said he never bought you any clothes. He also called the store and was told by the staff that the coat was ordered by Lucas."
Alina furrowed her brow and said, "Yeah. I didn't expect it either. Lucas bought that coat for me."
Annette mocked her and thought, 'Alina is so cunning.'
"Just now, you didn't say that the coat was bought by Lucas."
Alina said disdainfully, "Why should I explain that to you? It's your problem if you get the wrong idea."
Annette sighed, "You are really good at hiding yourself. Do you know that? Back then, Lucas didn't hate me because of my identity, so once at a dinner party, I accidentally mentioned the coat to Lucas, but he had no idea what I was talking about."
Alina furrowed her brow and said, "He often surprises me. So it was normal that he didn't remember that coat."
Annette sneered, "Really? Is it that Lucas doesn't remember, or is it you, Ms. Grace? After that incident, I began to suspect you, so I went to the store and asked about it. She said that the person who called to reserve the coat was not Lucas, but a woman. And, the bank card used to pay that day was yours. Do you want me to continue? Moreover, why did you only tell me about your pregnancy? And why did you give out the information that I'm Lance's daughter?"
Alina looked at Annette coldly, and there was no trace of shame on her face.
Annette was a little surprised. She didn't expect her to be so shameless.
As for Alina, she also didn't expect that Annette had investigated so much about her.
