Chapter 253
Chapter 253
"Perhaps you are right about getting along with mates. But when it comes to work, I still believe that I am right."
Annette looked at Alina with disdain and said, "I won't be a caged bird. Connor understands me, so he never asked me to resign. I love my job. It's my dream, so I won't quit. Regardless of who my mate is, I have the right to pursue my dreams. So, please don't belittle my job like this again since everyone has different thoughts about work."
"I want you to be accepted by the Blood Moon Pack. I know you are the source of Connor's happiness. That's why I said those things to you."
Annette couldn't help but think, 'Alina is using the same excuse again.'
Although she always says so, she does things that are neither recognized nor appreciated by anyone and make people feel disgusted.'
"I will take care of my life with Connor. Thank you for your concern.
Alina continued, "Lucas used to say that he didn't like your job. If one day, Connor doesn't love you that much anymore and he finds out about Lucas' thoughts, wouldn't you be worried that he would be dissatisfied with you? Would you still feel that you were right at that time?"
Alina looked at Annette and believed that she could definitely ruin Annette's relationship with Connor.
"There won't be such a day," Annette looked confidently at Alina and said, "Ms. Grace, since you say so, it already proves that you don't understand Connor. Connor is a noble person. Even if one day he doesn't love me anymore, he will tell me frankly instead of using despicable manners to attack and hurt me."
Alina sneered at the clothes on Annette's body.
"The outfit you're wearing is the latest season's collection and costs ten thousand dollars. With your salary, how long would you need to save up to afford it? Now, do you still confidently stand by your previous statement?"
Annette was taken aback by the price of the clothes.
"Ms. Hall, it seems that you are not ready to become Connor's mate," Alina continued. "If you don't change yourself, I think your future with him will soon come to an end."
Annette was filled with anger.
Alina didn't enjoy her life, so she cursed Annette's life.
Annette said angrily, "You are not Connor. What makes you think that Connor's feelings toward me will change because of my job? Do you think Connor is a despicable person?"
Alina said, "I didn't say that."
"Why do you have to make him sound so despicable? Connor and I are both adults and although we may encounter problems, we will solve them. You always say you have our best interests at heart, but you keep making me give up on myself. Is that really good for us? If I really quit, Connor will keep moving forward while I stay behind. The gap between us will only grow, and that will end our relationship. True love cannot be measured by money. Although I am not wealthy, I am willing to give everything I have to buy gifts for Connor, and he surprises me in return. That's how we get along. We trust each other. Alina, how do you feel about your relationship with Lucas? In my eyes, you are not qualified to comment on my life, and I don't want to become like you now."
Annette said angrily, leaving Alina speechless.
Alina gritted her teeth in anger, and her breathing became heavy.
After Annette vented her anger, she was actually less angry.
She said, "I'm an independent person and I don't like others controlling my life. This is my advice to you, and I'm also thinking of your own good."
Alina stood up and stared at Annette with a cold expression.
Annette was not afraid, she lifted her head and met Alina's gaze.
"Annette, you are a disgusting woman."
Alina threw the design catalog onto the coffee table.
"I'm busy. I'm afraid I don't have time to accompany you. After you finish choosing, just give it to Dwayne."
She finished speaking and walked out.
Annette leaned back against the sofa and said contentedly, "You should take the design catalog back with you. Connor will prepare everything for his child."
Alina turned around and glanced at Annette. She picked up the catalog and then left.
Not long after Alina left, Connor came back.
After he changed his clothes, he came downstairs to have dinner with Annette.
Connor noticed that Annette was not in a good mood and asked, "Dwayne said that Alina came to see you. What did she want? Did she want to pick out clothes for the kids with you?"
Annette glared at him and said, "No."
"What happened? Did she bully you?"
Annette put down her cutlery and said, "Would you think it's wrong if I continue working at the school?"
"How could you have such a strange idea?"
Upon hearing Connor's words, Annette felt relieved. She continued eating and said, "It's good that you don't think that way."
Connor glanced back at Dwayne. Dwayne shook his head, indicating that he didn't know what had happened.
Connor paused for a moment and asked Annette, "Did Alina comment on your job?"
Annette remained silent.
Connor believed he had guessed correctly. He looked at Dwayne and said, "Go get Alina. I want to ask her what makes her think that she can mess with my woman."
"Dwayne, don't go," Annette said hurriedly.
Dwayne remained still after hearing Annette's words.
"Annette looked at Connor and said, 'She said that I should resign, believing that my ordinary job would affect your status.'"
"She is annoying. What does your job have to do with her?"
Annette murmured, "Have you never thought that my job might embarrass you?"
"Why?" Connor said unhappily. "Let me tell you, you have the right to choose the life you want. I'm not that domineering, I won't control everything about you. Whatever you want to do, I will support you. You are working hard for your dreams, isn't that more commendable?"
Hearing him say this, Annette lowered her head and smiled, and her bad mood simply disappeared.
Connor looked at her and asked, "Do you think I'm a jerk?"
"I just don't understand the rules of your social class. I'm worried that I might affect you."
Connor smiled indulgently at her.
He thought, 'Although Alina and I already have our own mates, she still clings to our past and often provokes Annette.'
He looked at Dwayne and said, "Go find Alina and tell her that I want to talk to her in fifteen minutes."
Annette said in a hurry, "There's no need. I fought back. She didn't win."
"But she was the one who started it, so let me handle it."
Annette knew that she couldn't convince Connor and gave up.
Deep down, she didn't want Connor and Alina to get along.
She thought, 'But if I think like this, am I a terrible person?
I don't care, anyway, I just don't like Alina.'
