Chapter 231
Chapter 231
At noon the next day, Connor and Annette arrived at the restaurant early and waited for less than five minutes before Zachary and Sara arrived.
Connor and Annette sat on one side, so Sara had to sit with Zachary.
Connor and Zachary nodded at each other.
Annette said deliberately, "Sara, I'm sorry. I'm not on my way to your house, so I'll have to ask Zachary to pick you up."
Sara got her point. "I appreciate Mr. Joseph coming to pick me up."
Connor raised an eyebrow and thought, 'They are so good at acting.'
Zachary asked, "Ann, have Connor and you ordered the food?"
"Yeah, we did. We're not sure what you'd like, so check out the menu and see what you want."
Zachary took the menu and looked down at it.
Annette and Sara looked at each other and smiled.
Sara was in a good mood today.
Annette took a sip of juice and turned to say something to Connor when she saw Jennifer walking quickly toward them.
She nudged Connor quickly.
When Connor looked around, Jennifer reached their table.
Zachary looked up as he felt someone approaching him.
Jennifer was standing at the table, staring gloomily at Sara, who was sitting beside Zachary.
Zachary stood up and blocked Jennifer's view.
He said in an unfriendly tone, "What are you doing here?"
"Who is she?" Jennifer pointed at Sara.
Zachary's face darkened. As he expected, Jennifer showed up again, and he was so familiar with her provocative gaze.
"Jennifer, I'm having a meal with my friends. Please leave."
Jennifer looked at Zachary frantically. "I asked you who she was! I'm not going anywhere without the answer. You know my temper, don't you?"
Annette stood up and snapped, "Jennifer, what do you want?"
"Annette, it's none of your business. Don't be nosy." As Jennifer said, she grabbed Zachary by the collar and demanded, "Tell me who she is."
Sara realized that the woman in front of her must be Zachary's crazy ex-girlfriend whom Annette had mentioned before.
Zachary said coldly, "I broke up with you. Why should I explain it to you?"
Hearing Zachary's words, Jennifer looked at Sara and pointed at her face. "You bitch! How can you snatch Zachary from me? I'm telling you, even if I don't want him, I won't let anyone else be with him."
People in the restaurant turned to look at them.
Zachary closed his eyes and shouted in desperation, "Enough! Sara is just Ann's friend."
"Do you mean to say you have nothing to do with her? Impossible! The other day, you were together. You had a meal together, and she took your car. Zachary, you're lying to me."
Zachary's face turned gloomy. He took Jennifer's arm and dragged her out.
Jennifer, however, turned back and kept pointing at Sara. "Bitch! I will never let you make it."
"Shut up." Zachary pulled Jennifer out of the restaurant.
Annette got up to go out.
Connor stopped her and said, "Where are you going?"
"I'm going to reason with Jennifer. She can't humiliate Sara like that."
"Do you know why I didn't stand out just now?" Connor said coolly.
Annette frowned and asked, "Why?"
Connor looked at Sara and said, "Sara is interested in a man who has a crazy ex-girlfriend, and it's better for her to see the truth. If you help resolve the conflict, you'll keep her from seeing the truth."
Annette turned to Sara and frowned. "Sara, what Connor said is true. Jennifer is a possessive woman, and even if you're with Zachary, she won't stop bothering you. So, you should think about it carefully."
Sara clenched her fist. She had seen it all.
For some reason, she knew it was difficult, but she did not want to give up.
Outside the restaurant, Zachary dragged Jennifer to a corner at the end of the hallway.
He pressed her against the wall.
Jennifer struggled violently and shouted, "Let me go! I'm going to tear that woman's face!"
"Enough, Jennifer. Look at you. You are like a maniac now."
"What did you call me? That's right. I am driven mad by you. I spent my best time with you, and now you do not want me anymore."
Jennifer beat Zachary hard on the chest.
"Jennifer," Zachary growled furiously through gritted teeth and was almost on the verge of collapse. "What do you want? It was you who proposed breaking up with me. I'm fed up with the way you are, and am I wrong to agree to break up with you? It was your best time, well, wasn't it the same for me? What did you do to me? I proposed to you, but you refused to marry me. You made me quit over and over again because of the female colleagues around me. You destroyed my hope for our relationship and our future, and now you're accusing me. Jennifer, I didn't do anything wrong. And I want to ask you, on what grounds are you questioning me?"
Jennifer held her chin high and pretended to be reasonable. "I've been with you for so long. So, I'm always part of your life."
"No, you're not. Now, you're less important than a stranger to me. So, please stay away from me."
Jennifer gritted her teeth. "No way. If I'm not happy, don't even think about living a happy life."
"Am I breaking the law by talking to women? Why would you humiliate an innocent person I've only met three times?"
"She is wrong to be around you, and I have to scold her."
"You're out of your mind." Zachary shook his head, let go of Jennifer, and took a step back.
Jennifer looked up and laughed out loud. "You are right. I will get crazier in the future, so you'd better watch your manners. Don't think I will let you off after breaking up."
As she spoke, a soft voice sounded.
"Mr. Joseph."
It was Sara who came over.
Zachary was shocked. "Sara, why don't you go inside and wait for a while? I'll be..."
"You cheap woman, how dare you come out looking for him?" Jennifer was irritated immediately. She turned around and ran toward Sara.
Sara stood calmly where she was.
Before Jennifer could touch Sara, Zachary pulled Jennifer away.
"Enough!"
"I'll tear her face!"
Undaunted, Sara took out her phone, turned on the camera, and filmed Jennifer being pulled by Zachary.
Seeing what Sara was doing, Jennifer was even more incensed.
"Zachary, let go of me. I'm gonna kill her."
Sara smiled at Zachary and said, "Mr. Joseph, Ms. Burns should be aware that what she is doing is against the law. Just before I came out, Ann said that if I was hurt, she would send the person who hurt me to jail. So, just let Ms. Burns go, and let's see what she will do to me."
